I love doing this! You can see faint lights from a mile away and think it's some amusement park tucked away in the wilderness (I miss Wonderland!). Drive closer and you enter a carnival of sorts.
Every Christmas, the whole street comes alive, with houses decorated with rope and novelty lights, Santas, snowmen, inflatable characters, and even snow machines! You are encouraged to walk inside to the front yard of every house, where you can take snaps of the beautifully lit gardens; see the cute reindeers moving their heads on the lawn, or peer into the windows for gorgeous nativity scenes. The familiar melody of Greensleeves wafts through the air, as the ice cream man drops in at regular intervals.
The street has a great community vibe and attracts spectators right up until the decorations are put down. Just park your car and savour the atmosphere because the street gets too packed to drive.
When you're running out of steam towards the end of the working year, this is a great way to relax and catch some of that Christmas spirit.
Visit the street during the following times;
1-16 december: 8pm till 10.30pm;
17-27 december: 7.30-11.30pm,
27 december-5 january: 8pm-10pm
Note: Check out the cute reindeer in the picture gallery; he's been affectionately named 'Dopey' by my loved ones and I. read more
