Breakfast

Always consistent and friendly staff. Homemade yummy sweets that change with the seasons. The outside patio is so private and shaded

We had a delicious breakfast here. Food was very quick and overall excellent. Ordered a half order of French toast (4 triangles) a kids pancake (it was at least 10" diameter) and fruit cup. Also the two egg meal.

Excellent breakfast spot in downtown Redmond area. I had the eggs Benedict and they were terrific. Will be back!

We had breakfast here one Saturday morning. No wait and ate upstairs. There were four of us eating and we all started out with coffee and one ordered a cinnamon roll that was served hot with butter. Very good. My wife and I ordered hash with eggs, my son had the quiche special, and his girlfriend French toast with blueberries. The portion here are huge. I ate my eggs and about half my hash and potatoes. My wife was the same. My son enjoyed his quiche which was spinach and sausage with hollandaise sauce. His girlfriend didn't put much of a dent in her French toast. She did say it was very good. The service was friendly and prompt. Good breakfast experience.

We went during happy hour and got the fresh oysters, the pork belly, the albacore tataki, pork belly sliders, the Cuban, and the burger. So damn good, we were planning our next time back while we were still sitting there. We walked in to find a mostly empty restaurant (2 other tables seated). The atmosphere felt more like it was suited for a nice dinner date than a casual lunch but whatever - they're open for lunch. When I asked a friend about it later, he said he and his wife go there for dinner but had never been at lunch time. My buddy ordered the Grinder (essentially an Italian) and I ordered the Beef Sando (essentially their take on a French Dip). My buddy, who self-admittedly doesn't like focaccia, said the bread was awesome and sando in general really good. We both really enjoyed the fries, that were well seasoned in a savory and slightly sweet dusting. The abundance of fries was well appreciated as well. The beef sando was tasty and also a good portion. My only complaint was the thinly shaved beef was laid flat in layers instead of mounded on the sandwich (see pic). I hesitate to even say this, but it felt like I was eating Steak-umm. In general, the meal was good and filling. The service was good and value for price felt good.

The staff are very sweet and mellow, which is nice in the morning. The market is nice, decently priced, full of artisan gifts and trinkets, some hygiene supplies if you need them, and great grab and go snacks; a few highlights of the variety of options include Rogue CBD water (hard to find!), Justin's nut butter treats, Honey Mama truffle bars, pints of local ice cream (including one vegan flavor), and Kettle Chips in some of the best flavors! They also sell beer, wine, and cider, if that's your thing. This morning I got coffee elsewhere but had the Broken Top breakfast burrito in a GF wrap in the cafe and it was fabulous. I forgot to take a photo of the burrito until halfway through the other half of this thing but snagged one of the other side. Tomorrow I plan to try the coffee, smoothie, and breakfast sandwich on GF bread and will update! UPDATE: the sandwich and coffee are delicious! Not pictured is the blueberry basil smoothie. As a celiac, I made so that they have a dedicated fryer for their fries/tater tots, and they did, so naturally I had to get those. I decided on the sweet potato tots and they were just delectable. Once you step inside you are transported to a killer brew pub dimension. The place was moderately busy for 1:30 on a Wednesday and we were immediately greeted by the bartender. We analyzed the tap list and narrowed it down quickly to the 3 IPAs brewed by these guys. We ended up trying all 3 and overall I would give the beer an 8 out of 10. I love a Boneyard RPM or Ft. George 3-way. I have been away from Oregon Craft for about a year so I am a little off my game but I didn't leave a drop in those pint glasses. We both ordered the smash burger and fries with some jalapeño aioli sauce. The fries were maybe the best fries I've ever had. I literally put my head down and chowed through them all before realizing I had a burger too. Smash burger is true to form dressed with melted cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato. The bun had been fried in magic sauce to a crispy texture before they built the burger. We were blown away at how good it was!! We went to Sunriver Brewing on Wednesday night and think Initiative won our personal award for that day!! Highly recommend you check it out and I want to go again before I have to leave town!!

I arrived around 11am on a Thursday to find the place absolutely packed with people! As a lone diner, they were able to fit me right in at the counter seating. I'm not a big eater for breakfast, so I was very relieved when they said they could do a half order of biscuits and gravy. Thank goodness! When they brought out the "half order", the singular biscuit was HUGE. And the bowl of gravy was generous. The biscuit was like a giant version of my Southern born grandmother's biscuits, and the gravy was very traditional and tasty. I looked around at my fellow diners' plates, and the portions all seemed incredible, especially for the prices I saw on the menu. The guy waiting the counter was super friendly and fun to chat with, as was another local to my right. This is 100% that local favorite breakfast place, as evidenced by the packed restaurant at 11am on a Thursday. It's down home and real. Nothing fancy, but the food is honest.

They have a number of core staples, plus a bunch of small batch beers you can read about on the chalkboard near the door. The bartender was immediately friendly and welcoming; I said it was my first time there and she told me it's the oldest not-for-profit brewery in Oregon, donating all their post-bill/payroll profits to local charities. I was also here at lunch time and ordered maybe the best tuna melt I've ever had - rich, buttery, and delicious. They have lots of beers packaged to go as well.
