I LOVE this church. Truly!…read more I've been attending LifePoint Homestead for the past several years, off and on. Back then, I was coming in from out of town and just visiting with family. Over the past several months, since moving back to the 305, this has become my home church. What an absolutely amazing group of imperfect Christ followers. I feel so blessed to have this as my home church. It's about a 45 minute drive each way on Sunday and an hour and a half drive each way for first Wednesday, but I never miss. It's worth it. This is a Bible based church and Pastor Rich goes through the Bible verse Bible verse. No that messages, no tickling of the ear. Just a biblically based church full of loving and accepting people. My kids love the youth and children's ministries. And I am blessed to be plugged in with an awesome men's Bible study group. If you are reading this and considering a visit, do yourself a favor and go. It's one of the best churches I've ever been to. God bless!

Highly recommend this church to those looking for a traditional service…read more This is a Presbyterian church which is not apparent in the name and required me asking other congregation members. Everyone was welcoming, including the pastor who visited my house after our first couple of visits. The church offers a wide variety of activities to include children's church, Sunday school, vacation bible school, bible study, pot luck suppers, missionary activities, English as Second Language, and bible studies. The congregation is racially and ethnically diverse, although it is predominantly WASP. The service is in English, with occasional passage readings in Spanish. Spanish is spoken socially in informal gatherings. The congregation appears to between 100 and 200 members. It is small enough where you can learn the other members names as well as being small enough to know when another member is need of help. The grounds are well maintained as can be seen from the attached photos. Area for Improvement: The church uses the NIV, however there are ESV bibles and at least one other version floating around. During bible study and services it is frustrating for me to have a disconnect between what the study leader is saying verbally and my NIV bible, since I am a visual learner. Apparently, the church had switched bible versions a few years previously, but the congregation members and pews are stocked with the previous version(s).

This building is the former home of the First Baptist Church of Homestead. The church was organized…read moreon September 5, 1909 by Rev. Henry Howard Sturgis. This building replaced a wooden church on this spot that was built in 1912. The groundbreaking for the building began in June 1940 but construction was interrupted by WWII and it was not completed until January 1944. The former Sunday School building in the rear was built in 1926. It was designated a Homestead Historic landmark in 2000. This is the only remaining neoclassical structure in historic downtown Homestead. The dramatic entrance columns really makes the building stand out. After Hurricane Andrew in 1992 devastated the area, the church members left and built another church at 29050 SW 177th Ave in Homestead. Since then this building has had many other uses. The front of the building has the words The Sanctuary. It was last used as a community church and local special event space. It looks to be unoccupied and may possibly be for sale. How cool it would be to own this historic building.
