I started going to this church my freshman year of College, and I was immediately taken aback by…read morehow relational and caring this church was. People always makes an effort to connect with one another in a meaningful, loving way. There doctrine is extremely Gospel-centered, and they teach whole books of the Bible in order, not shying away from difficult topics. Although this church isn't very big, there is more than enough people to feel like a church family! The worship is also very good. They have a full band (drums, electric, acoustic, bass, keys, viola). The most important piece of worship is there song choice, they're very good corporate worship songs that remind us of what the Gospel truly is. There's a lot of value in their worship, and I really appreciate that. This is also a very diverse church in terms of age and race. Roslindale and West Roxbury are some of the most culturally diverse areas in the state, and the church mirrors that very well. There are also a lot of young families in the church, and the pastors are also heads of young families as well. In the fall and spring, college students also frequent the church (like myself), so there's something for everyone. There is also a good amount of more 'seasoned' people in the church. The fact that everyone in the church is still connected to each other despite the diversity is proof of how much God is working in this church. I'm happy that I'm apart of it!

From the warm door greeting, to the helpful children's ministry staff who made my son feel comfortable and excited about children's church, we felt at home right away. CRC has a diverse community whose praise and worship time flows seamlessly from Christian Rock to Gospel to Traditional Hymns. With its medium sized population, I find it easy to serve on a number of different volunteer teams without any pressure. I definitely recommend CRC to those looking for a new church home or just exploring Christianity for the first time.

Beautiful traditional pre-Vatican II church. We attended…read morethe Latin mass which lasted almost 2 hours, but you wouldn't know it while you was there. It was very beautiful. I am new to the Latin mass and would love to keep attending, but because I don't speak Latin I only feel like I'm attending Mass so much. In my humble opinion, it would be nice if the readings were done in English. But they were not. In my humble opinion, it would also be nice if the consecration was read out loud instead of silence. (Even if read out loud in Latin)

God willing, someday every Mass will be a Latin Mass, and every parish will be as reverent as MIL…read more That said, this parish's compliance with the extreme and insane Covid "mitigation" measures was very disappointing. The pastor knew that masks were pointless and wrote a pastor's note in 2020 to this effect. But the City of Newton was calling the parish to threaten fines and closure if masks were not enforced. So Fr Higgins, admittedly in a difficult position, unfortunately did enforce the mandate, writing in the parish bulletin that anyone not willing to wear a mask should stay out of the church, and enforced the ridiculous, arbitrary Covid capacity limits. The willingness of the despicable Archdiocese of Boston to jump on board with the Covid lunacy was shameful but ultimately consistent with years of chronic betrayal. Far more jarring to the soul was that even the Latin Mass parish was willing to obey what seems to be the only absolute in the RCAB, ie, that appeasing Democrat politicians trumps Truth and the pastoral care of the faithful.

They recently had a beer tasting after the Sunday 5:30 mass, which is excellent. They also have things like spaghetti dinners and theology on tap etc. They have a new deacon that is spearheading reaching out to boston college and community of st. ignatius. I think he's doing very well! I haven't attended the 11am mass, but I've gone many times to the 5:30pm mass. At this mass, the priests and deacons give good sermons, and people attending mass respond and are friendly. They open with greeting people and end with a good song. The music is very good -- they have about a 10 person choir and guitar, piano, harmonica etc. They sometimes have a choir leader with a guitar that looks like a spanish parlour guitar -- the music he leads/sings is really great. By far, after trying so many zombie-Catholic churches in the Boston area -- with people that aren't friendly and don't speak responses in church and priests that are "difficult to appreciate" as my refined southern mother says -- this church is one of the best if you're looking for catholic and community.
