A great extra curricular activity for kids. TKD teaches discipline and self control. I grew up learning various martial arts and I am very happy with this program for my 7 year old son. He has been attending for almost 3 years since he was 4 years old in the Panther program. It is rare to see the main or head instructor train children. Normally left to other high degree belts but GM Cho leads every class. We are so lucky to have him still teaching and even more so that he is teaching children. I have not been to his school in Hawaii. But I actually trained under Master Cho briefly way back in 1973 in Providence Rhode Island. Actually, Ronald Thiverge who as I recall was his first black belt awarded student actually taught he class, but Master Cho was present, issued a few commands and pointers and was walking around the studio. He was weight training a bit, kicking the bag, etc. And later students often hung around and he would chat with them. I reached the highest brown belt rank, but never tested for my black belt. Over the years I started and stopped many times. Even taught white belt and other junior classes with one of his third generation students Len Mills. The training and leg strength I gained helped me recover from horrible back surgery when I was 14. And now at 62 I am in good health. read more

Our son started Tae Kwon Do at Grandmaster Hee Il Cho's Center a little over a year ago and it has been the best extra curricular activity we could've involved him in as he is high functioning autistic and team sports are a challenge. We gave it a try and the beginning he was intimidated because it was new & all of the advanced students are so good! Within months my son gained so much confidence that it is beyond measure! There is a huge respect for Grandmaster Cho from all of the students - children and adults! He teaches these classes personally and I am personally honored that my son gets to train under him.
