    N5. Jajangmyeon Noodles
    Kasey N.

Choi's Restaurant was such a pleasant surprise! Honestly, I didn't expect Korean food this good, especially in College Station! We ordered the seafood pancake, and it was crispy, flavorful, and just delicious. I got the jajangmyeon. The jajangmyeon was yum -- chewy noodles covered in a rich black bean sauce that was both savory and slightly sweet. The portion was generous, and the sauce had just the right balance, clinging to every noodle perfectly. If you're a noodle lover, this is a must-try. We also tried a variety of dishes like gamjatang, soondobujigae, and tangsuyuk, and let me tell you--each one was a hit. The pictures I've shared speak for themselves, but seriously, you've got to try them all. Everything had that homemade, comforting feel, and the environment made it even better. I went with a group of friends, and we all agreed that this is the kind of spot you'd want to visit after a long, tiring day or when you're feeling down because the food is just that comforting. It has that small, cozy vibe--almost like walking into a family-run place that's been serving the same amazing dishes for years. It's definitely one of those places where you leave feeling happy and satisfied. The service was also great--quick, friendly, and efficient. Our food came out hot and fresh despite how busy it was. The prices were very reasonable for the quality and amount of food we got, which is always a plus. The restaurant itself is small, which adds to its charm, but I'd recommend coming in a group of six or fewer, as anything larger might feel cramped. All in all, Choi's Restaurant has officially become my new go-to spot in College Station. I can't wait to go back and try more of what they offer--there's still so much I haven't explored on their menu. If you're in town or just passing through, you have to give this place a try. Let's keep supporting these amazing small businesses that offer such delicious, comforting food!

Came here for the first time since our first time. We ordered the bulgogi, kalbi, gimbap, and the tteokbokki. All their food was delicious. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of the dishes. The young male waiter was super friendly and fast. Lots of tables to dine at and lots of parking.

Just ok. The owners are nice and it seemed they were the only ones managing the place, so all the tables were left with dishes (They're hiring btw). The food was also decent and price range was reasonable. Definitely giving homemade-ish but not super authentic either. Environment is comfy, nothing crazy. Worth a try if u want Korean food!

The food was flavorful and filling, though the dishes tend to be on the salty side. I had the seafood pancake (5/5), tteokbokki (4/5), and tuna kimchi jjigae (5/5). The servings are large and good for sharing.

Enjoyed this cute local Korean spot in college station. It's a small family-run restaurant with a good selection of Korean food. I really liked the budae jjigae and banchan.

I came back on hubby's request. Food is delicious, although service is slow. Grilled bulgogi, spicy stir fried pork, crispy spicy chicken.

This is a small family run restaurant. The old couple are such hard working people who really care for their customers. Even with nonstop online orders coming in, they made sure we had our drinks and side dishes. The food here is amazing. It tastes great and I keep coming back and it's definitely worth the wait for how good all the dishes and side dishes are.

This is how it was served..dirty & sticky..

I had high hopes for this place because of the reviews but I have to be honest. I got the Budae Jjiigae and it looked good at first then I saw how filthy the portable stove top was and lost my appetite. The flavor wasn't there, it was really bland. There were 3 customers in the restaurant including myself, not once did I get a refill or asked how I was doing.. the lady passed me like 5+. I didn't eat nearly even half. I paid for my food & left dissatisfied but more so disappointed.

Before I graduated this place was how I survived college. I would come here 3-4 times a week so I basically tried almost all the dishes. The food here was always made fresh and with a lot of care that I never worried about the food ever being poor quality. Even when I graduated I would crave the taste when I go to other Korean restaurants in Houston. This weekend I was lucky enough to visit Choi's again and I'm so happy that nothing has changed! This restaurant is and always will be my favorite restaurant in college station! Here are a review of some of my favorite dishes.. Tangsyuk: The tangsyuk here is really made different from any other korean restaurant. The batter they use makes every bite crispy but at the same time soft - I don't know how that's possible! Then when you dip it in this warm, sweet & sour sauce (with a very slight hint of pepper) it comes with, it becomes the perfect bite. I promise. Be careful to not get too excited and burn your mouth cause the tangsyuk is so fresh, it's piping hot! Rabokki: mmmmm the rabokki.. I still have dreams about the sauce they use with it. The sauce has this multi flavored taste: sweet, creamy and spicy. Added with ramen which is very fresh and so perfectly textured. The white onions, fish cake, and ttbokki just all work so well together. And lastly it comes with egg that I always small bites out of in between bites to even out all the other explosive taste. Grilled samgpseol: this is the only place that actually makes the pork belly slightly crispy (but not crunchy) and I love it! I hate it when my pork belly still has that meaty taste. I always make a wrap with it which includes... the lettuce, rice on top, kimchi, pork belly and the the bean paste sauce they include. Literally the perfect bite and I always tell my friends when I'm eating my pork belly from Choi's, I am the happiest. Grilled bulgogi/ grilled bulgogi kimbap: I use to always order the grilled bulgogi because the price for the amount I get is perfect for a college student. Then I would dip it in the bean paste sauce that you dip the samgpseol with (you have to ask for it) and it elevates the whole experience. I personally get tired of one flavor all the time so dipping it in the sauce changes up the taste for me. Then when I found out they use the grilled bulgogi in kimbap too (basically a korean sushi roll) I had to try it. Of course it lived up to all my expectations. The roll had so many flavors that complimented the meat wonderfully and it's super filling! If you're in a rush to study or to get to class, this is the perfect dish to order to eat on the go. If you want to elevate it, then ask for my favorite sauce (bean paste sauce) and it will be a bite to die for. Overall, Choi's will be the BEST restaurant to go to if you want affordable and amazing food!!

Choi's is my favorite Korean restaurant in College Station. I've been coming here for years and the quality and taste has remained the same. I love taking friends and family here because it's always amazing. The owners are super friendly as well. My favorite dish is the kimchi jigae.

She brought out the sides for our table and the kimchi was okay...nothing that had fermented long enough. The cold radish was a highlight. The potatoes were tough and I did not even try the jelly... "Mom, y'all (referring to me and her) make better bulgogi than this at home," said my brother. I don't disagree...the texture was rubbery and it was tasteless. This being my 3rd time here (I always get some form of bibimbap), I expected the same quality. The presentation was nice but so much was lacking. Great service, C-tier food.

Here, "I paid a lot for this meal so it must have been great" is the unconscious bias. But Jedi mind tricks don't work on me. For starters, we make it clear to our server that we'd never been there before and needed an explanation of what to do. The explanation we got kinda sorta answered the question, but not that well. Then, I simply picked wrong when I chose two meats for starters; I didn't care for the seasoning on the Spicy Beef Bulgogi or the Spicy Calamari. I also ordered eggplant, and what I got looked exactly like what my wife had recently thrown out at home because it was too old. You know how they constantly scrape the grille clean at a Mongolian BBQ? There's no way to do that here. When we asked if there was, the answer was "I'll get you a new one", which did temporarily solve the problem, but the new surface soon had a blackened coating no different from the one before. Finally I had the sense to order Garlic Shrimps [sic], which I recommend, but as I was cooking it, it seemed like it was taking a long time. Eventually I looked at the controls at the side of the table, and our burner was turned off! I turned it back on and we finished our meal. Last year in Spring 2023 (before the semester-long renovations), Shun de Mom was my favorite eatery in CSTAT. I ate here at least 2-3 times/month. For starters, they changed their menu and removed the Thailand Chicken (my favorite dish) along with raising their prices slightly. More importantly, they changed the sauces so "saucy" dishes (like the Orange Chicken) just did not taste good. The chicken lo mein had very little flavor and the noodles seemed "rubbery" for some reason. Lastly, the salt and pepper pork ribs looked exceedingly deep-fried and I'm fairly sure had MSG on them. I had no idea that they recently had a food truck in Northgate, so I decided to check them out. TASTE: During my visit, I decided to opt for their Bulgogi Beef Fries, which I typically get at Asian fusion food trucks as a benchmark and since you technically can't go wrong with bulgogi beef fries in general. I had my share of these kind of fries from the west coast to those in Austin and Houston, so I had a good range of good and bad fries. I really liked these fries though, since they were my style. The fries were nicely firm but weren't oily. The bulgogi also had a nice texture and wasn't chewy like what I find at places with similar dishes. It also had the complete works like your spicy mayo and garnishes. One thing that I did notice about the fries was that it was nicely seasoned with some sort of spicy seasoning (?), which I don't recall seeing often in similar fries from other places. Long story short, great tasty bulgogi beef fries. SERVICE: It's a food truck in a food truck park, but the guy taking my order seemed cool. VALUE: Reasonably priced at around $8 and about the same as the other Asian fusion places that you find in the bigger cities and at restaurants in town with similar dishes like Nam Cafe. If this were open for lunch or more weekday evenings, I would have no qualms in making this a frequent spot. ATMOSPHERE: I visited around midnight for a late snack break on a Saturday night in the summer, but it was unfortunately surprisingly empty. But since it was spacious and well-lit with music blaring on the speakers, I think it would make a great atmosphere for a group of friends to eat and hang out. VERDICT: Overall, strong recommend from me. I want to go back to try their other foods. Only bummer is that they are only open on weekend evenings from Thursday to Saturday, so you have to catch them at the right time. Glad they have a food truck like this here in town, because I typically only get this taste when I head to the major cities in the state.
