Word to the wise: save room for dessert when sampling the delicious eats in Viktaulienmarkt…read more Sama-sama is mere steps away from the market, however entering the shop is like stepping into a different world. The chocolates here are so unbelievably beautiful, I almost felt like I shouldn't be eating them. Nonetheless, I bought and tried a couple of truffles. Each was rich and exquisite, sinfully so. Germany is renowned for its chocolate, and Sama-sama has mastered the craft.

The pralinés are little artworks, almost to beautiful to eat, but once you've tried them, you won't ever hesitate destroying the piece of chocolate art. The taste is fantastical, an explosion of flavors will challenge your taste buds, I promise! I love this place, the owners are extremely passionate about their products and always eager to suit your wishes. In spring and summer there are just a few seats outside where you can enjoy the chocolate and have a cup of coffee while watching people strolling down the road towards the Victualienmarkt. Go there, the prices are high, but just adequate for the quality of the products you can get there. 5 stars! PERFECT!!!

Out on a warm early spring Sunday, we spied a long queue of people, and a sign for 'Eis' (ice…read morecream), and wondered if maybe they were on to something. Turns out they were. From what I was able to read with my very-imperfect German, this place has all house-made ice cream, and the ice cream was REALLY good (very smooth & creamy). I tried the Waldmeister since I have lately been obsessed with this (a very tasty herb that i've never seen used in the US) -- it's citrusy but not as sour as lemon, and it was very good. they also had a chocolate-chili ice cream that had a definite 'kick' to it (kind of sneaks up on you). I wished they had a sign posted outside with the available flavors --with the huge line outside, there is actually pretty fast service, and there's not really time for you to hem & haw and consider every flavor before you make your choice. guess i'll have to just go back again.

I found most of the German locations that sell chocolate to be of average quality. This location in…read morethe underground of Stachus Pasagen at Karlsplatz, has a nice variety but fits in the average category. Going by the moniker of Swiss Chocolate, I have had better "Swiss" chocolate. Not as expensive as expected there is a nice choice of items. The truffles were ok but we found the bark to be better quality and more flavorful. The staff of young ladies were very patient as we picked out our truffles and provided service with a smile. You might have to hunt this location out so it might not be worthwhile; then again most chocolatiers in Munich were not worthwhile.
