Went in for a consult for pain in my lower jaw, got convinced into a deep cleaning. I was already doing deep cleaning with my dentist every three months. But the Dental Tech said theirs was deeper. I told them I didn't want one and wanted to cancel the appointment and it went into a whole thing about $100.00 late cancel. Told them actually I was on a short list that I didn't get ask to be put on and technically it's not late. But I already paid $200.00 for my retainer and I wanted it as soon as possible to stop the jaw pain. I grind my teeth. Yes I sign the agreement to get the exam and retainer and to cover the cost if the insurance didn't cover it. But suspicious that the insurance didn't cover anything at all. How can an office stay in business when the patient get quoted for $138.00 for a deep cleaning they didn't want and ends up being billed for additional $220.00. That's on top of the $340.00 CT (cool pic bro), $250.00 exam fee. All up front minus the part the insurance didn't pay. Anyhow, I will contact them for a break down and talk to my insurance. Then I will have to contact the DOH for their rude rude heavy handed sales tactics on people who are experiencing pain. Same complaint as the others, ashley was a horrible person to deal with, and chulli only spoke to me at the beginning recommend various cleaning, then afterwards, it was the assistants who kept escalating the treatments, ashley was always losing check payments, when i would leave messages to chulli, never called back, kept rushing to have documents signed for more treatments. DON'T Go this dentist, had horrible experience. After went to few visits, Dr. Chiulli said I need surgery , required deposit $500 plus lots of papers to sign. then I decided to not to . When I called and let the office that I was not going to do the surgery, she sa nothing but a negative words, like I could end up going ER. etc. Also asked me to come to office to sign on waiver form to get my deposit back. When I went there again quite a few pages to sign all the words nothing but scary. Almost like retaliation of cancellation. She said I have to sign to get depo back, Forced to sign to get deposit back, then refund check was $482.50 instead of $500. Dr. sa they deducted bank charge... Rude office staff and assistants, overbook appointments, negative feedback and expensive

Hayden is a wonderful assistant! She is caring and attentive. She helps patients feel at ease and can answer any questions patients have.

Go someplace else. Save yourself some pain and money. They are not transparent about their pricing, which is over twice what is considered 'fair market value' for the region. We got stuck with a surprise bill that was almost $800 and nearly $200 more than what they sent to our insurance. Lastly they waited to send it until it was too late to cancel our next appointment without incurring $500 cancellation fee. read more

Dr. Chiulli and all of his staff are wonderful. They actually care about their patients and do a great job. They have helped me to have a healthy mouth and created a great plan for fixing the teeth, tissue, and areas where I had a lot of bone loss. They also do a great job following up after procedures. On March 3, 2022, I went to Dr. M. Chiulli DDS of Tacoma, Wash. for a consultation for a gum recession problem. After examining me, he told me that I had an infection on one of my teeth and it needed to be extracted and then put an implant. I did not have any problem with that particular tooth since it was recently treated by the ever so wonderful Dr. John West, a well known AND VERY CARING endodontist. Dr. Chiulli told me that this was urgent and that I had to make an appointment immediately to have that tooth removed. This was really sudden. I came to him to check on a receding gum line on a different tooth, and he wanted me to do a tooth removal on another tooth. I don't know why I agreed to sign a paper work for the surgery that was to take place on March 10, 2022. The cost was more than $4,400.00 and I had to pay right away over there with my credit card. When I left his office and got in my car, I had a second thought about it and called repeatedly to cancel it, but no one picked the phone up. So I called the next day, March 4, 2022 and after two hours of trying to call, finally I was able to talk to them but only to be told that they would charge me $500.00 for a cancelation. WOW! They just scheduled me for less than 16 hours ago and the surgery was one week away. I argued with a woman named Ashley who was very rude and refused to hear me. I asked to talk to Dr. Chiulli himself. I explained to him that I had a second thought about the surgery because I needed to see Dr. John West for a second opinion. I thought he agreed to let go of the ridiculous and unjust $500.00 cancelation fee but on Monday, they sent me a check to refund my money but taking more than $500.00 off. CRAZY! So I sent that check back to him and asked him to do the right thing by refunding me the whole amount that they charged me. I have not heard anything back from him so I disputed this charge with my Bank. Today, March 9, 2022 I was seen by Dr. West who told me that the tooth Dr. Chiulli so persistently wanting to extract could be saved and just needed a minor treatment to heal the infection which will be done next month. BEWARE OF THIS DR. CHIULLI. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO HIM AGAIN AND ADVICE OTHERS TO STAY AWAY FROM HIM!!! read more

Dr. Chiulli and the behind the scenes staff were fantastic, professional, informative and effective. My poor experience rests in scheduling and aggressive reception tactics, which only shine a poor light on the rest of the staff. I had receding gums and was referred, only to later discover that the procedure for half my lower jaw was out of network, costing me 5k. This left a bad taste in my mouth with the referring dentist, but was my oversight so I accepted my failure to look deeper and moved along. Like I said above the procedure was fantastic, smooth, and well performed. In the long run the results were barely remarkable, but again lesson learned. The review appointment for the remaining portion of my jaw was upon me, and not having the funds or time to complete, I called to cancel... should've been simple, but the receptionist led me into a reschedule somewhat forcibly. I agreed. I called again after hours to cancel, only to discover that the office has strict policies around canceling (which I understand from a time perspective @ 24 hours out so they don't get left hanging), especially canceling over the phone or email, which in this day and age seemed off. Today I called during office hours to finally cancel the entire thing, and was met again with combative and aggressive tactics, even after clearly stating that I had no funds or time to address the rest of my jaw. Even after that, the person on the other end stated that their system doesn't allow cancellations, and they would instead place me on a call back list for some time later in the year. These facts alone have solidified my decision to not return, and to leave this feedback for others. read more

The Dr. and clinical side are great. The office management is less than ideal. I had to reschedule an appointment. It was 4pm Monday, thinking 4pm Wednesday is 3 business days, I cancelled Wednesday morning to discover I was still charged a $100 cancellation fee. I can understand the necessity of certain business practices, but it felt like I gave ample notice. In addition, my reason for cancellation was due to other medical issues and my surgeon moving around other medical appointments I couldn't miss. I'd expect a bit of cooperation and professional courtesy extended to a medical peer's office who were the catalyst for the changes. Again, the Dr, is great...the clinical staff is nice....but office management is an area of improvement. read more

Today I had my first visit with Dr. Chiulli in Tacoma. I was very impressed with the amount of detail given during my consultation. Dr. Chiulli was really good at explaining things in a way that I understood and he wanted to ensure that all my questions were being answered. I got the impression that he truly cares about his patients and only wants what's best for my health. Normally, I would leave a visit like today feeling lost and discouraged, but today I felt well informed and confident that I am receiving the best treatment under his care. My husband was recently treated by Dr. Michael Chiulli at Trillium Dental Specialists for a dental implant. This office is to be commended for its professionalism and intelligent approach to dental care. The office has state of the art equipment and experienced personnel. With regard to the dental implant procedure, Dr. Chiulli walked my husband and I through the process and thoroughly explained what we were to expect, including after-care. On the evening after the surgery Dr. Chiulli called us personally to check in on his patient - a total surprise, but such a welcomed phone call, knowing that this doctor truly cares for his patients' well-being. A dental implant does not seem like one that could be a positive experience, but our selection of Dr. Chiulli made it so. We appreciate and thank him and his colleagues immeasurably.
