That made a big impact on me, and it's something I still value today. Academically, I felt challenged and well-prepared for college. There were strong classes, great teachers, and a good balance of support and expectations. It's not a massive school, which actually made it easier to get involved--sports, clubs, music, student groups--you didn't have to be the best to participate, and that meant a lot. No place is perfect, but LHN is a strong, affordable option for families looking for a high school that combines solid academics, a real sense of community, and a faith-first approach. I'm really glad I went there and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

Hands down, Lutheran North beats todays public school environment! The only complaint I believe the…read moreacademic probation for athletes should be higher standard. I know my first name is a typical last name but having someone repeat what's your first name over and over and slower is super demeaning. The teachers are even disrespectful to the students. My brother has come home with horror stories that make you hope your child is making them up. Ranging from other students taking his stuff and the teacher telling him oh well and blaming him to the teachers forcing them to run because her glasses were moved. Let me tell you my brother has issues with his ankles and this "punishment" further worsened his condition.

The staff is attentive academically, respectful, and very communicative with your child's progress as well as with any problems that have arrived at the school, and they have always provided a safe environment for my children the whole course of them being there.

We had a very disappointing experience with Shrine Grade School last year. Before enrolling,…read moreseveral local teachers warned us about leadership and academics at Shrine, but we chose to give it a chance and quickly regretted it. The school was consistently disorganized. The principal seemed disengaged and unhappy in his role, while the assistant principal was unapproachable. Even their newsletters were full of grammatical errors--alarming for an academic institution. Most concerning was the school's push to hold back pre-K students. Even when classroom teachers said children were ready for kindergarten, administration insisted otherwise (this is the case for 3 different families we have spoken to). In our case, they repeatedly claimed our 4 y/o May-born daughter was "too young for Kindergarten," which is simply not true. We later learned this was likely due to a lack of kindergarten space, making the decision feel misleading and financially motivated. The one bright spot was our daughter's teacher, who was kind and capable, but strong classroom teaching cannot make up for weak leadership. Now that our daughter is at a new school, the difference in organization, communication, and overall educational environment is striking. I fear for Shrine's future if leadership and priorities do not change.

A low cost fee of $34 dollars for the one day workshop (which was 2 1/2 hours) I had a positive experience! We learned how to make all sorts of things, Biscotti, Tarts, working with puff pastry & fillo dough, and of course truffles. All the materials were included with the one time fee as well. You had a chance to bake things yourself and learn while others were baking with other things. My friend and I were the only people under 40, but it was still a great time. The instructor seemed to have lots of experience and was friendly. I plan on taking another workshop soon, called Tour of Europe which will specialize in all different types of food from Europe. :) Good times! Not to mention, I have a killer recipe now for a Bavarian Creme Apple Cream Cheese Torte. (And of course you get to take the baked goods home) Kudos to the community for offering things like this.

I have two boys that have had nothing but positive, enriching experiences. Every morning they wake up excited to go to school and every afternoon they can't wait to tell us some of the things they learned or did that day. The staff is so hands on and really make the children and parents feel so comfortable. The office staff answers phones and returns calls promptly, the principal is often seen interacting directly with students, they have Deputy Z to teach about safety and different scenarios, beautiful playground, and so much more. I am so thankful that Baldwin has been such a positive experience for my boys (and even myself) I cannot say enough positive things to describe the impact their program has with my children. I highly recommend Baldwin Elementary to anyone in the area and love that we still have a few more years with them!
