Thus, today it was simply a Taichi Milk Tea with Boba. Please do not quote me on this, but it seems they use a special kind of milk? Whatever the case, the result was delicious! The tea and milk flavors were both noticeable but not overwhelming or overpowering in any way. Excellent amount of 'bite' from the tea and savory/creamy notes from the milk. The sugar and ice levels in the default beverage were on-point as well! I often find myself having to specify "less sugar" and "less ice". While such customizations are built into the menu, it's lovely that the base isn't gobs of ice and sugar. The boba was fine, nothing to write home (on Yelp?) about here. The vibe inside is lovely. It is wood, black and splashes of color. The service was polite and speedy (though to be fair - it wasn't very busy at the time). While I am not yet local to Chicago, I will be in a few months. When this happens, I look forward to returning, and trying some poke and ramen as well!

I started his classes recently and the experience has been absolutely fantastic. Chris embodies everything you could want in a teacher: he is incredibly thorough, breaking down movements so they are easy to understand for all levels. He has a truly great energy that makes every session both relaxing and invigorating. Beyond his knowledge, Chris is remarkably gentle and kind. He creates a welcoming, supportive environment where everyone feels comfortable learning at their own pace. His deep expertise shines through, making even complex concepts approachable. I have experienced positive results in terms of my initial health issues and am back at some of the sports I had given up. I highly recommend Chicago Tai Chi!

I've been coming here a couple months, and cannot say enough about the class structure and instructor. Since I'm a way beginner, I wasn't sure what to expect. However, this workout is different from classes I've taken for yoga, Zumba and most cardio-type class structures, since I didn't have to just "pick up" where the class was at. The class instructor (Stirling) is excellent, and takes time to show you each move and guides you every step of the way. He is very thorough, non-critical, peaceful, skilled and patient. It's a class you can take at any level and not feel lost or behind. If you're advanced, Stirling has been doing Tai Chi since the 70s and is skilled in the various forms, such as sword form. He has a lot of students that are at advanced levels and can also provide instruction. If you're a beginner like me, the practice is so fascinating and you don't necessarily need practice/knowledge to start, since you will definitely learn and "feel" when the moves are correct. There are a lot of underlying principals when it comes to perfecting the form - learning these has had a huge impact on my progress. Learning how each move can be used in combat is so empowering! Benefits I've gotten: A lot of energy as opposed to lethargic, physical and mental balance and strength, reduced stress/increased calmness, greater ability to focus, and stronger legs, arms and core

Had a horrible experience with "Master Bob" who harassed me in front of the entire class for asking questions. This 'man' has zero taichi ability, zero qi, zero peng, zero martial ability. This place is mostly middle-aged nerds cosplaying taichi, they have no push hands ability, do not understand the foundation of taichi, and going here you will never gain any ability. Also the idea you need to be vegetarian for better qi is 100% false.

Obviously things build up and I needed a way to release all my pent up stress, anxiety, nerves, emotions instead of channeling it back into activities. I found Body & Brain Yoga on Groupon (they currently have a 10 sessions for $39.00 special). Body & Brain is incredible because it focuses on the meridians and energies of the organs, using ancient Far Eastern concepts on energy. I did a private session today with owner, Julia Chung and I just signed up for more classes. Julia is a kindred spirit. She's highly educated (PH.D./engineer) and left her cushy corporate job to pursue her soul's passion. She's really funny, really smart and incredibly compassionate. She's also a Life Coach and is patient and an amazing listener. I'm so thankful to have met her! As for the class. The "wooden pillow" class was interesting. It's definitely different than anything I have taken before but it's a lot of meditation, breathing, and using a wooden "pillow" as a massage tool. It's kind of like "myofascial release" in personal training where you use a Styrofoam roller to target key muscles and your lower back/temples. Julia also uses aromatherapy in her classes and ends each class with a circle and healing tea. The entire session was perfect because my stress was gone and it was a different experience than traditional gym (running/lifting) as well as Hatha yoga. I definitely recommend that you try it because it's an experience that I can't describe. I look forward to trying the other different classes (they have tai-chi, dahn yoga, energy classes, etc) and learning about new ways to not only de-stress but also get in touch with my true self!
