When this urge hits, we have found these escapes: Chinese restaurants, a hamburger at the Holiday Inn Luxembourg, Blimpy's, and the Courte Paille chain in France. So, a couple times I have escaped EU cuisine for a day at the Chinese restaurant in Melk (from the Abbey, walk thru the town square, take the first right, and its on the corner of whatever street that is- and the road along the Danube). Decent Chinese food (clue: note the number of Orientals eating here ), decent service, and for EU, relatively low prices.

It was lovely to sit by a table while i waited for my vegan sushi and soup- and i didn't wait for too long. I even got a complimentary fortune cookie (did you know that the fortune is always written in English?). The prices were a bit above what i would expect to pay in the Czech Republic, however- it was fresh, handmade sushi from an Asian restaurant which runs by Asians in the city center, so it's quite ok. I enjoyed the food and would defnitely recomment it!
