Each time I visit this place, it seems to get worse and worse.
I've visited this place ever since it was called China China. But ever since the name change, the place has gone from a 7/10 to a 2/10.
I have been three times in total to the place named 'China Zone'. Each time there were less than 5 others eating in there - which should have been a clear sign.
I haven't got high expectations when I come to places like this, but China Zone is embarrassing. I mean, really embarrassing.
My last visit was about a month ago. I came in at around 8pm for the 'Grand Buffet' or whatever the gimmicky name was (the most expensive time of the day).
After paying 20 pound for myself and my friend to eat there, we went straight to the trays at the back which there were about 5 left and were almost empty.
So I went to the front desk and was told by a female member of staff that I had to then order from the menu as they stop replenishing the trays after 8pm.
This kinda defeated the purpose of the 'restaurant' and I felt awkward as me and my friend were putting in orders just for ourselves (max. 3 dishes at a time).
After being denied two of the dishes because apparently there was still some traces of the food in its tray at the back. We were told that if we didn't eat enough of each plate, we would be CHARGED EXTRA for however much the 'cook' believed each plate is worth.
So, while I waited for my food to come. I checked the status of the tray of food that I wanted to order - I think it was crispy chicken and yes, there were still some traces of it in the tray. Alongside bits of food and sauce that had fallen into the tray from other trays.
So, no crispy chicken for me. :(
Our plates arrive and for some strange reason, every plate had bits of nuts sprinkled over the food. I don't like nuts. I wasn't told that there would be nuts on the dishes. So now I'm in an awkward position as I don't like nuts - which are covering my food and if I leave the food, I'd be asked to pay extra for them.
So I ended up having to scrape them off and try to eat the small amount of food that was on each plate.
After this, I just went and got a load of chilled donuts, cheesecake, ice cream etc. To make up for the excrement that I was served - it didn't really make much difference.
Maybe it's because of the time that I got there. Maybe I should try to always get there for lunchtime to get a better variety of food (that isn't sprinkled with nuts) for cheaper... Is it just me that finds this very odd?
However, I think that for 6 pound. Everyone would have a MUCH better experience in ANY fast-food restaurant or cheap eatery.
Sorry China Zone. You've had some satisfactory times. But after my last visit, the atmosphere and service just screamed a place that is close to closing. To be honest, the sooner this place dies. The better... read more
