Egg Roll

** Super Fast Service ** This is the first and I hope only one star review I have written. A off day could be understood after all we are people and no one is perfect. This was two for two. There will not be a third time. The "super fast service" is the only good thing I can say about this place. Ordered delivery and the food was here in about fifteen minutes, not that I'm complaining about fast service but fifteen minutes should have been a red flag for the amount of food we ordered. I honestly believe some of the food was actually spoiled. Bbq Pork: can not even describe the taste. It was. unrecognizable. Horrible taste to the meat and terrible aftertaste from the sauce. Orange Chicken: Again with the terrible tang from the sauce. Never experienced such a taste. You don't expect the greatest when ordering Chinese, usually your in the mood for something specific. This place was thee WORST I have ever eaten. The absolute worst. Everything tasted completely off. The tang in the food was not of too much spice or syrup but of spoiled food. Unbelievably bad. Safe to say we will not be ordering from here again. I urge others to find an alternative.

Fighting a hang over :) Spicy chicken wings, meat filled wontons and pork egg roll.

Wonton Gourmet is officially a new go-to spot for our family -- and for good reason…read more First off, the place is clean and SUPER fast, which is a huge win when you've got kids in tow. And if you know, you know... they've inherited the iconic recipes from the late-night eats of 554 so the flavors are legit. My kids are obsessed with their soup -- like, quiet-at-the-table obsessed I personally love the chicken wings and tofu (both packed with flavor), and their chicken noodles are such a comforting go-to. You already know a spot is good when the line for to-go orders is literally out the door... and this place delivers every time. Definitely adding this into our regular rotation with the kids

Wonton Gourmet gets 5 stars for the food but 1 star for the service…read more We've been here many times, and just about every time we get the same waitress. If you've been here, you'd know exactly who I'm taking about. Not very friendly, speaks extremely fast, and often doesn't seem to fully pay attention to the order. Case in point: on our last visit, my wife ordered beef stew with wontons, but the dish came out with just wontons--no beef. When we pointed out the mistake, the waitress returned with a small bowl of beef stew on the side. Now I'm no chef, but you can't just pour a small bowl of beef stew into already-made wonton soup and suddenly have it become the dish that was originally ordered. The beef stew soup base is completely different from regular wonton soup. My wife was hungry and didn't want to wait longer for a remake, so she just ate it. You would think that after a mistake like that they might comp the dish or offer a small discount, but instead they charged us extra for the small bowl of beef stew. I honestly couldn't help but laugh. That said, it's hard to find a really good bowl of wontons in the suburbs, so we'll probably still be back--just hoping the mediocre service eventually improves. Not to be all negative--the food is really good. Our go-to is the wonton noodle soup with the flat wide noodles. Their sesame chicken is my kids' favorite along with the fried wontons. My wife loves the beef stew with wontons (when they get the order right). They also have the "554" with eggs, char siu, and rice, a staple of an old Chinatown spot Seven Treasures. So yeah, the food is excellent... you just might have to solve a small mystery first to see if your order arrives the way you asked for it.

Wow. We picked the place on a recommendation but now I know not to trust that person again. The…read morerestaurant was dingy and disgusting; I have literally never been in a restaurant where the condition of the place itself made the food so unappetizing. I was picking up for my partner and wasn't eating the food myself; I don't know that I would have actually been able to eat anything from here. And when I asked about how the food was, I was told it was edible but not a place we needed to go again. When I placed the order I was told it would take 15 minutes. I got there 25 minutes after my order was placed, and I still had to wait. This was particularly annoying because I ordered it before leaving Glenview to head home specifically because we had an appointment that evening and time was short. There was one person in the restaurant when I got there and I don't know if they were a customer; they left as I was walking in--so it wasn't like it was a popular night. The price was laughably high. One of the dishes I considered was like $5 more than the comparable one at my fave Chinese place in Ravenswood. Truly, how is this place still open between the ridiculous prices and the yucky restaurant.
