If you have ever frequented local parenting forums about schools, then you likely already know that…read moreDiliman Preparatory School has a strong emphasis on academics. Some parents have even complained the the curriculum tends to be too rigid, but in my opinion, it's just a matter of fit. There are some kids who thrive better in learning environments that are flexible and less structured, while there are kids who do better when given more rigorous lessons. I'm only familiar with Diliman Prep's Preschool and elementary programs so I can't speak for their high school levels. The preschool incorporates the Doman gentle revolution system and Singapore science and math. At this early stage, the preschoolers are already taught the fundamental computer programs in MS Office, in preparation for the elementary level's Robotics curricula. Once your child is promoted to the first grade, you have the option to enroll him in the Space Science program, which is entirely separate for the regular school curriculum. You might want to wait until the 2nd grade or even later to do this though, just to give your child a chance to first adjust to the greater demands of the elementary school before adding to his academic load.

From the owner: Diliman Preparatory School is a happy, exciting learning organization that commits itself in…read moredrawing out the "genius in every child" for entrepreneurial, ethical and global citizenship.

More than half of my life was spent in this school--kindergarten, grade school, and high school…read more While I pretty much dropped the whole Catholic institution as soon as I graduated, I look back on the rest of my education with gratefulness, sentimentality, and affection. What distinguishes St. Paul from other schools is its determination to bring up well-rounded girls. Yes, the importance of academics is highlighted, but in all my years there, our teachers and headmistresses never failed to remind us that art and culture are important too. Off-campus broadway shows and other cultural immersions were the norm, and in retrospect we were so fortunate to have been exposed to those things growing up. Music appreciation is also incredibly prevalent in the school. While other schools have one alma mater song, we had AT LEAST five. That's not including Marian songs we'd sing all throughout the month of October. Often, the morning rites included a religious song taught to us by experienced music teachers who had so much passion for teaching their chosen subject. Having been part of the choir for three years in high school, I had the pleasure of being under the tutelage of conductress Mrs, Sheila Fetalvero. Fondly called Mommy B, she was the mother hen to the MAC (Music Appreciaton Club) Choir. The club is called differently now, but in many choral and glee club circles, it's so prominent that it's still referred to as MAC to this day. St. Paul may not agree with all my religious beliefs, but it was an excellent place to grow up. I would be happy to send my own children there.

This school boasts for a lot of things, it has great facilities, great programs both academic and extra-curricular, and has an advanced curriculum compared to other schools. It's also internationally accredited by WASC or the Western Accreditation for Schools and Colleges and has continuously received only the top honors from PAASCU. Everything about this place claims excellence but from experience I've seen it's mostly just talk. The facilities here are great and the extra curricular program is top notch but it's the academic offerings that have caused trouble now that I'm in college. Frankly the whole "advanced" curriculum did nothing to help my friends and I in college, it did nothing to boost the number of passers into different colleges and did nothing to help us get higher grades either. The advancement certainly did not deliver the results we were all expecting. But aside from that the teachers and staff at this school are great and really good at what they do.

I'm a proud graduate of this school and I must say that I owe a lot of what I am now to my beloved Alma Mater. LSM provided me with the holistic development that every young gentleman deserves. They did not just focus on the academic but in the other equally important areas as well. I enjoyed being an athlete which I owed to the extensive sports program of the school. Not only did the school help me become a knowledgeable and skilled individual but it has also inculcated in me values that I can manifest and share for the rest of my life. So if you have a school-age son or nephew, look no further. Be our brother and enroll now.

I am a proud alumnus of Lourdes School of Mandaluyong, but in this review, I won't be talking about how my school molded me into becoming a bearer of peace and goodwill to all men. I am here to talk about the school's facilities, which actually makes it a conducive place for learning. All classrooms in this school (both primary and secondary) are air conditioned. One classroom has an estimated maximimum capacity of 40 people. They also have computer and science laboratories for effective learning. For physical education classes, Lourdes School of Mandaluyong has two gymnasiums that could easily accommodate more than 150 people. They also have a swimming pool and a huge football field for annual sporting events. They also have a huge theatre for film viewing and awarding ceremonies. Parents should consider this if they are looking for a school that can provide quality education and holistic formation for their sons. PS: You can rent their swimming pool/ gymnasiums every weekends
