But, add food, music, and rides and you've got a great weekend on hand. After settling on a black cherry flavoured sno-cone, the boy and I walked the path along the river whilst listening to the free music playing at the riverfront amphitheater. If you have kids, there are plenty of free kids activities to keep them busy and happy. We missed the parade, and there is also fireworks to close out the festival but we just made a quick day-trip down to the area to check it out. Great festival with a great view along the riverfront that I hope to make a yearly outing!

They had a special promo that ended on the 30th and when we asked if we'd still receive the promo the cashier gave us a shitty attitude and said "Idk i guess we'll see" I also asked about current promotions and the, what seemed to be (unprofessional) manager (male, short dark hair), and he said "well we had one that ended at midnight because we close at midnight" and said it very sarcastically and I asked politely and out of curiosity, unaware at the time that they closed at midnight and not 1am. Although I don't know what was said during the scheduling, I wondered, towards the end, if he had been informed that he had to stick to the scheduled time. Being as late as it was, I assumed he was the only last renter of the day, since no one had a sense of urgency as the party's "end" time neared. Of course, when the time came, a large group of people appeared, waiting for us to clean and clear out. Even though he was a little frustrated about having to clean up so abruptly, I reminded the guests that whether or not we knew, it was our responsibility to stick to the plan and be off the premises by the deadline. However I think it necessary for any organization renting to impress upon the customer the importance of adherence to scheduled time. No, I'm not saying that it was their fault or responsibility at all, but somehow I think he and his co-planners believed they had the cut-off time to use to clean up, being as late as it was. Lesson learned. Thankfully, the incoming party was kind enough to let us scramble and dump everything without incident. The area was nice, nothing out of the ordinary, so I give it 4 stars. I've never participated in any of the July 4th festivities at his location over the years, but I have had my concerns about security from time to time, particularly with the incidents of violence. But again, that's on the people, not the organization. Some things, even security have difficulty controlling.

But over the past few years, and the downtown in the economy, its gotten a little weaker. In fact, it used to be a 3-day festival with live bands, food, and entertainment, but now its only one day with no live bands, only a few bouncy castles for the kids and a parade that I think is getting more and more peaked by the year. What redeems this event is that it really is a family event and you can spend all day here and have a good time. The children's parade starts at 10am and ends at a carnival. The main parade was at 1.30 and featured Eric Smith of the New York Jets as the grand marshall. The fireworks are surprisingly good and lasted around 30 minutes. Quite a few people come to watch the fireworks so parking can get a bit tight. The school lot was completely filled up but the cops aren't too diligent about ticketing for parking illegally during the fireworks (but you'd better move your car right afterwards) or you can also park for free at the rec center down the road. Or if you don't want to walk or risk a ticket, several of the houses along Main offer parking for $5 a car in their yards.

We were greeted outside by security who advised you could not take in lighters or e-cigarettes and masks were required. The building only had three aisles and was not big so this gave me a feeling of relief. Plus there was a maximum capacity of 46 which security was monitoring. First you stop at the registration table and provide a form of ID. You must sign a liability form and give it to the cashier at checkout. You also receive a buyer card that you can use the next time you shop. Everything was BOGO so we went for the $199 combo packs. My Dad picked one and I picked the other and we split the cost. My dad also purchased Snaps for the little ones. Plus we received a free firework for our purchase. The service was fast and friendly. I would recommend Phantom for all your fireworks needs!

The majority of the Phantom items here I've never seen before as they had some awesome mortars that came in a box that was just about as tall as i am now that's just crazy fun I could light those off for hours with the amount that comes in some of these huge boxes! When you visit this store don't forget to Check-In so you can get your free pack of sparklers the good sparklers the ones with the metal stick which are super hard to come by! Overall they have tons of things here to blow up and burn so either way you can't go wrong with a visit to the Phantom store of fireworks awesomeness!

But would not have if it wasn't for his sister. She gets a spot each year. She goes early to mark her territory/spot. Usually there is another family there, but not this year. Also usually some friends of the kids also come, but alas no one else this year. There is a different act each year, we have seen some bands that I would not have been able to see in my youth. So I am thankful for that as well as my country, my health and my family. Peter Frampton was this year. We saw Little Richard a few years ago. Two years ago we took my mother, all the walking wasn't good for her. But she did have a good time watching the band and the fireworks. The only thing she had a problem with were the dogs. Go figure we had dogs my whole life and I didn't know my mom doesn't like dogs.

Lots of butterflies and squirrels. We managed to see a Heron fishing and flying. That made the trip in my opinion. We walked around the lodge. Not too much to see in there. Looks like a decent enough place to stay. Staff wasn't very friendly but I guess you can't expect much out of government employees having to work a holiday.
