Finally. Indian in Bondi. That just so happens to also be delicious. But how best to describe it to…read moreyou, dear reader? Well... you know when you order too much from an Indian restaurant and you get the leftovers packaged up to take away but when you go to eat said leftovers for lunch the next day (ok fine, breakfast) you can't bring yourself to do it because the grease sheen that has coated the plastic container and subsequently pooled into oil slicks atop your aloo tikki, chicken jhalfrieze and lamb roganjosh gives you night terrors in the daytime? (Phew. Breathe.) Well, that didn't happen the next day. Dare I say, it was even better the morning after as all the spices had really settled as they do, and it came out of the container without a Cat In The Hat-style signature calling card. We were very impressed by the vegetarian dishes, specifically the aloo gobi and dal tadka, although I could have had them both a touch spicier. But the standout was the fish curry, to which I leave you with this quote directly from their menu: "Panjim Fish Curry: Panjim on the konkan coast comes this beautiful recipe which only taste cant (sic) describe best." Note: Unfortunately you'll also pay for said deliciousness, entrees coming in from $6-$15 and mains from $14-20. But quality is much higher than your old go-to London standard Indian takeaway that you drunkenly hit on Brick Lane and then denied knowing anything about the day after (just me?) so it's certainly worth it in my book. Free delivery over $30 within 4kms.

The restaurant is aesthetically appealing with its decorative interior and many statues of Ganesh that offer to bring everyone a bit of luck on selecting what they are going to enjoy. I arrived early evening time and was the only one frequenting the place other then the staff. I decided to get down to business quickly and ordered. I decided to go with lamb chops as an entree. The main I selected was Seafood mixed Korma with a side of rice and garlic naan bread. They offer this combo for $29pp which is reasonable. The lamb chops were delicious and cooked with ginger and spices and Homer Simpson would be proud. The Sea food dish was extremely tasty and contained prawns and John Dory. The garlic naan came in very handy to make use of the left over sauce. Service was a little slow considering that I was the only one there initially. They served a gentleman who ordered take away before me which I wasn't happy about but overall good quality was very good so I would return again.

Sometimes I get home and I'm tired and hungry and can't be bothered cooking, leaving my house or…read moredoing very much at all..... on those occasions I log - in online and go to suppertime.com.au - a local Eastern Suburbs food delivery business which makes "suppertime" super easy and convenient.... They have a variety of different local flavours - whether that be a pizza from Gelbison or a triple chocolate cookie from Micky's - you're guaranteed to find something you love on the menu. I had a Japanese delivery from Samurai which arrived 30 minutes after my order... although they say expect an hour for your delivery - since its all local, it tends to be a lot quicker. The driver who dropped it off was really nice and friendly and my food arrived fresh and ready to eat... Occasionally, i see the Suppertime Cars ( those smart cars) driving around the area and I kind of get the feeling there's something local and special about this food delivery business. They deliver to Bondi, Double Bay, Darlinghurst, Paddington, Bellevue Hill, Bondi Junction, North Bondi, Dover Heights, Rose Bay, Vaucluse, Point Piper, Elizabeth Bay, Woollahra, Potts Point, East Sydney, Surry Hills, Bronte, Randwick, Redfern, Zetland, Darling Point, Edgecliff, Centennial Park, Clovelly, Rushcutters Bay, Tamarama or anywhere in the Sydney CBD - so if you live/ work in any of these areas you are in luck. Definitely a great way to organise your evening meals!

I love eating at good places, I like fresh food, and if someone wants to cook it for me and bring…read moreit to my house, I'm not going to refuse. When Suppertime launched, I was slightly skeptical as it almost sounded too good to be true, but then I started seeing more and more restaurants in my hood sign up to the service. So I signed up to Suppertime. For the Glebe area, they have a pretty solid database of restaurants who are willing to deliver for lunch and/or dinner. My first order was from Dimitri's Pizzeria, which is located on Crown St. I ordered the salt-roasted beetroot and ricotta tagliatelle and a salad and chose the Cash on Delivery option (you can pay by credit card but there's a 1.5% surcharge on Visa/Mastercard and 3% on Amex. F*** that). Total: $33.65 ($17.90 pasta + $8.80 salad + $6.95 delivery charges). The food came in 30 minutes (what, this is not Dominos!) but was lukewarm. I don't think the lukewarm food was so much Suppertime's fault - I think this is the restaurant's responsibility. So why 3 stars? Firstly...I cross checked the price of my food with the actual menu at Dimitri's. My pasta, which was $17.90 on Suppertime, costs $16 at Dimitri's. If I actually went to Dimitri's, and got a table, Dimitri's would also plate it for me, I'd get some nice ambiance and table service. Instead, my pasta was lukewarm, priced almost $2 more, served in a foil container, and eaten in front of my gritty laptop while reading insurance law cases. Even though the food was delicious, I felt this was daylight robbery - while a premium service is being offered (home delivery of delicious pasta), the customer is being robbed of the other delights such as being served in the actual restaurant. What has dictated such a difference in price? Surely Suppertime would negotiate better pricing for its takeaway customers? Then there is the delivery charge - $6.95. This seems to be standard. Ordering for one person may not be worth it, especially if your bill is only going to be $30. You will be better off ordering for two or more people (Suppertime take corporate orders too). (There's also the surcharge if you decide to use your credit card to pay) It's clear Suppertime is made for a more *discerning* clientele - you can tell by the restaurants that are on the list. After all of this, I agreed and said - ok Suppertime, if you can bring gourmet pasta to my doorstep, I might be willing to spare those few extra dollars. But then, I should be expected to benefit in some way too (apart from that delicious food of course). I searched Suppertime for a loyalty program but was unable to find one (not even one where you order 10 times with us and get free delivery on your 11th order??). You can sign up as a member and store your details with Suppertime, but that's pretty much it (it also probably gives them a free ticket to spam you with constant e-marketing). In saying that, I will encourage the public to try Suppertime. I recently spotted one of my favorite restaurants on the Glebe delivery circuit so most probably I will be back on there (this time, with friends!). Bon appetit!
