Firstly, the director promised we could get a sibling discount on part-time (4 days per week care). It wasn't until the day I came in to sign enrollment paperwork that we were told by the owner there would be no discount since they were "doing a favor" by providing a 4-day week. It was a sneaky move and I wish I would have pushed back on the greedy owner. There were several policies that were detrimental to the children. Most days when I would pick up by babies they would be crying in their cribs while their teacher cleaned their classroom. When I brought this up, I was told it was the end of her day too and she was required to clean. Children should never be put in cribs to cry while someone uses cleaning products around them! I also saw feeding utensils put in the same bucket as cleaning supplies. Classrooms are consolidated at the end of the day to account for ratios. I noticed that my son was coming home with diaper rash, sometimes so bad it was bleeding. When I asked why they weren't using cream on him, they said it was because his cream was in his other classroom and they weren't allowed to move it with him. To allow a child to cry and bleed without diaper cream just because of policy is terrible. Overall there are plenty of great centers in the area. Spend a little extra money and enroll your children somewhere else.

Everyone there KNOWS your child which is so important. This is one of the most important decisions you make as a parent and I can go to work each day without worrying about her care. Not only is she having fun but is learning so much and I feel her time at KB is really going to prepare her for elementary school. And as an only child, the socialization she is getting is key. They do an excellent job of educating while having fun!

We toured multiple schools, but found immediate comfort and confidence when we toured La Petite on Baines Ct. What attracted us to La Petite initially was the great classroom curriculums, healthy lunches, and the school Director's warm/approachable demeanor. After we enrolled our kids (and in addition to those things) we found that what makes La Petite so wonderful are the dedicated, compassionate teachers, the regular exciting and engaging activities for the kids, and the community of other parents. Our son had the privilege of being in Ms. Dana's Pre-K classroom. He was not only SO prepared academically for Kindergarten thanks to Ms. Dana, but the classroom really fostered his friendships, which gave him great social confidence before beginning Elementary School. Our daughter was enrolled in Upper Two's with Ms. Lily and now is in Preschool with Ms. Taja. Our daughter loves her teachers and looks forward to all the exciting activities they have planned every day. While the academic curriculum is great (she is learning a ton), what we appreciate the most is how much fun she has every day. Whether it's a dance party, classroom yoga, tending the garden outside, or a special guest coming to visit, there is always something fun for her to look forward to. The cherry on top is that our daughter has made some best friends in her classrooms who we hang out with regularly outside of school, too. I don't give out reviews often, but I genuinely feel that La Petite on Baines deserves 5-stars. I am so grateful for the teachers putting in their max effort to make the school such a wonderful, warm atmosphere for our kids. And I'm beyond thankful knowing that when I drop them off, they are happy, cherished, and supported. I hope this helps any new parents out there! Good luck on your preschool journey!

Our son started at La Petite academy on Baines court when he was 3 years old…read more His teachers Mrs. Breanna and Mrs. Dana were every bit of amazing! We trusted them even when we didn't look at the cameras. We never felt like he was unsafe or unhappy...They kept us up to date with our son's daily activities through their app and always gave us feedback on the day he had at pick up. The communication has been top tier and the love and patience they gave him will always stick with us. He graduated a few days ago and we're so sad this chapter is closed for so many reasons...one of the biggest is saying good bye to the greatest most loving staff at this location....from the teachers to the wonderful ladies up front to Mr. John in the kitchen. We thank you for all of it!!!

I had to write this review when, after repeated attempts at check-ins, I realised my kids' school…read morewasn't even listed on Yelp as an elementary school! I believe the school was named for Emma Conn, but for the past several years the school has been the ONLY magnet school in Wake County offering the Active Learning and Technology program. As a parent, obviously I put a lot of thought into which school I wanted my kids to attend. The recent Wake County school board controversy really made me shy away from the public schools; I knew I was interested in a magnet program. My husband and I have been looking to buy a house also, so knowing we were moving (possibly from one school district to another) was also an incentive for magnet schools- my kids would be able to attend the same school from K-5th grade! As a kid who attended 3 elementary schools myself, that really spoke to me. More importantly, I can vouch that the Conn system really works. Today, I had my kindergarten son's 3rd quarter parent-teacher conference. Prior to him enrolling in school, I was concerned, because like a lot of little boys, he had trouble sitting still, listening, being attentive for long periods of time. I don't know if it was his wonderful teacher Ms. Christie, or the syllabus that includes time for dance, drama, PE, and arts in addition to the reading/writing/arithmetic basics, but I literally nearly teared up as she laid out for us a sample of his free-period writing from 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarter. My son has made insane progress this year, moving from a kid who was proud to know his alphabet, to a kid who can write multiple sentences without any adult input at all. The "technology" and "active" part of the curriculum aren't just buzzwords, either. Whether it's the interactive "smart tables" the school is placing in kindergarten classrooms, or that strawberry "learning module"/fundraiser they recently held (an educational trip to the berry farm followed by sales of baggies of regular and chocolate-dipped strawberries), the school not only keeps kids motivated and interested in learning, but helps parents feel involved as well. I'm a technology-minded person myself, and I HATE being sent home random slips of paper that will inevitably end up lost in my kid's bookbag or in the dredges of my car's backseat, so I also appreciate principal Diane Kearney's weekly pre-recorded phone calls full of the latest school news! Try relying on your 6-year-old for important data and you would appreciate it also! Tonight we had Kindergarten Orientation for my youngest, who will hopefully benefit from the same great teachers Jack had, but regardless will benefit from Conn's innovative magnet approach. I felt stressed at the time of choosing a school to apply for, and I felt stressed we wouldn't be chosen after submitting my application, but ever since my kids started attending Conn, I have never once been stressed about their safety, happiness, or education. I went to AsheBridge in June 2018 to enroll my son. The costs, as a private school, are higher than…read moreaverage but I was willing to pay this. Our tour was very brief and I was not introduced to the teachers or told much about the daily schedules. Still, I was in a rush to find childcare for my son, so I asked them about his egg allergy. He is allergic to eggs, it's a medical condition and I can provide proof of this. Well, here's where things went awry. The woman got squeamish and was like "ohhh, I don't know what we would do then, I'm not sure how we could help him". I examined the menu and only 2 or 3 things in their entire breakfast/lunch/snack list had egg products to begin with, I asked if he could get something from another day on those days. She said sometimes they don't actually serve what is on that list "because they might not send that." Ok, I then suggested I send him with labeled foods from home like yogurt pouches... something so benign nobody is allergic. "Oh no we don't allow outside foods." So my only option is my child starves those days? Is he really the only child you've ever come across with an allergy? You don't have a procedure for this? She told me the outside food policy, ironically, was to protect allergic children. I proposed that I would submit a list of his potential foods to them in advance, and never stray from that. She was hearing none of it. Just kept repeating "no outside foods" like a robot. We left it at she would investigate and call me. She did not. I called her though. I called several times over the next 3 weeks and no callback or response. When I finally caught her on the line, she told me they could not accommodate my son's egg allergy. I said "so you are declining to offer him enrollment on the basis of his medical condition?" "Uh no umm.. no no no". She backtracked and after some back and forth, said she "misunderstood" and asked me to send her the foods I proposed I bring in, so she could show the director. My son is a sweet little toddler who loves everybodyHe just can't eat eggs. If AsheBridge won't just NOT feed him eggs, that's obviously not the place for him anyway. For what it's worth, he's now at another nearby private school and the convo was as simple as "he's allergic to eggs" "oh no problem! We will feed him something else when there's eggs on the menu!". UPDATE: The response from the owner to my review is a blatant lie. I was never afforded the opportunity to bring my son labeled, store bought foods for lunch, and NEVER suggested that I bring him homemade foods. I was told "due to the fact that we are a private school, we can make choices like no outside foods to protect our community of children". No outside foods, and no alternatives from their own menu meant my son would not be able to be accommodated, I asked repeatedly for clarification and ultimately was told yes, that is true. Only after I threatened to write this review, was this recanted. It was truly sad because my son deserved the opportunity to be treated equally.

Goodard School at Apex caused a huge stress in our lives. One day, child protection service officer…read morecalled me that there is a complaint against me. As you can imagine, this was quite unsettling. I went through the interview patiently. I was told that the complaint was done by the Goddard School. The complaint was that I take walks with my younger child, without taking my elder child with me, and this was suspicious. I had been doing this for more than a year. So what had happened? What had happened a few days before that was that I had a disagreement with the director. The CPS officer, after satisfying herself by asking me all kind of questions, told me that they have received complaints like this in the past. Based on their feedbacks, they have realized that Goddard is very nice to the parents at the time of enrollment. A year or two after that, on any disagreement, they use one parent against the other. Or if they don't like something about you, they complain to the social service, on some pretext. By this time , the parents cannnot make the children go through a disruptive change, by changing the school. The school is obviously expert in human behavior, and has calculated this in its "art" of keeping the parents in check. The parents then start "working with" the school. She finally told me that the CPS service check is routine, and she will get back. The service was called off in about a month and a half. It was not actually called off. Only when I checked back with them, I received a mail stating "no services required". Needless to say, that month and a half, I was fighting with my own worst fears. I just prayed this to go away. I do not wish that this school happens to you.

The owners (husband & wife team) are on-site. He is friendly, outgoing and makes it a point to know all of the kids and parents by name- the wife, not so much. The old Director & Assistant Director were both very nice - not sure if they've left or have both been on vacation, but the new person that has been there has been really rude, to the point that I have dreaded having to call or go in to the school. The tuition was ridiculously expensive ($986 for part time, M-F 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM), but there didn't seem to be anything more or better than what a "regular" preschool would be doing. They also don't provide lunch, which seems a little unreasonable at that price point. Bottom line - it's just okay. It's overpriced for what it actually is. I'm pretty confident that we can find something just as good, if not better (nicer staff, more welcoming environment) at a more appealing price.
