I worked for this establishment for nearly 3 months as a High School Instructor teaching 8th, 10th, and 12th grades, ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies and had the most difficult time there. For one, the pay was very small for what they expect from a teacher. The student behavior from the younger students was hard for me to handle. The administration offers no training, no written policies on how they want the students taught and no confidentiality polices were handed to me on how and what to say and not to say to the students. Yet I was terminated for breaching this policy. The younger students are often left alone for short bursts of time in the afternoon as the one teacher who teaches them is also responsible for answering the front door for pick up which can occur at any time when administration is not there or in a meeting. There is no nurse, or a private place for students to go when they are not feeling well and need a rest for a few minutes. The administration tells you when you mess up, but does not offer any professional development for the staff as a whole. They want students to follow a time schedule for their lessons when last year the students were handed a packet at 10 am and finished it by 12:30 pm and went home for the day according to the students. It is unfair to the students to expect more time from them when they are capable of doing the work in a shorter amount of time. There is poor communication with the teachers and administration. They listen to and believe the students and the students' parents, even when the student is not telling the full truth, over the teacher. They may listen to what you have to say, record every word and watch every movement you make with cameras, but they go with what the students say. Even though they told me not to believe everything that the students said, they were sure quick to believe them when it suited their purposes. As soon as I started, additional duties were assigned to the faculty without any additional pay. I worked tirelessly with no word about how I was doing and no formal reviews. read more
