Don't bother shopping here overpriced and on top of it I found two same items I was interested except no tags and was very interested in purchasing the item waited for them for approximately 20 minutes. The lady comes out and says she needs to call the label company to get price. They are suspicious because working in the industry, those items are going out the back door for sure. This is a cool feedstore that also carries a pretty decent selection of western wear, tack, and supplies. Their hay isn't local, and it's overpriced. My horses are not huge fans, so we tend not to buy it here. They do carry 1 ton bales, three stand bales, and straw. The hay is either grass or alfalfa. They have a good selection of grains and feeds for livestock, as well as dog food and cat food. The reason I only give them two stars is that the staff kills this place for me. They're either pushy in a salesperson kind of way or straight up rude. They aren't well informed on their products, and they have no idea what customer service means. Got a moldy bale of hay? Okay, lots has changed here. I have my fave local mom-n-pop places for hay, sprinkled throughout Isleta Pueblo. I do have my die-hard stops and the hay is most definitely local. But sometimes, due to my lack of planning, "moms and pops"are sometimes not home to open up their gates and let me load my trailer with the necessary bales for my spoiled and demanding horses. So there I head, over to Chical, which is, if anything, consistent. I kinda see that Chical used to have less local stuff but they are now stocking good amounts of NM alfalfa blend. I buy the 3 string and lately it has been so nice and crunchy, my horses really love it. Check it out sometime. If nothing more than the drive down Isleta Boulevard and over past the old pueblo over to Highway 47 for a superb ride through the Rio Grande valley's romantic agrarian past. Plus, you can head back into town back along 47 and stop over at the casino to play a few slots. I've also had some issues with register staff, but in the past year, they have gotten it together and really are helpful. The guys outside who confirm your receipt purchase and load you up are very nice. Sometimes we spend a few minutes chatting, and it has never been less than pleasant. Plus, when I need to burn a bit of time, I can check out all the interesting stuff, from cattle troughs, to a bit of fencing, to dog collars, and, oh, the infinite multiple color collection of western boots.... Yeah, like I ever have any time any more to saddle up and ride! Especially when I have to be a consistent equine butler/manservant..... But seriously, you can get all your basic horse needs filled, just be sure they aren't closed for a holiday (it has happened and i have nearly had to troll the acequias back up to the South Valley like a cheap hustler trucking for a bale or two). But mostly, they are always open for business. And recently, they have brought in some very cool wooden rocking benches that I just have to try to buy for next Spring to throw my fat behind onto and enjoy the gorgeous New Mexico weather. read more

Never buy anything you may need to return. The manager (Daisy) is uncorporative and does very bad business. I have in recent years spent thousands of dollars on feed and hay and was peddled very bad hay that I had always bought for the same price that had always been good hay. I purchased 30 bales and spent almost $600.00 on that visit and 8 were very bad and molded. Chical is in the hay business I am not . I tried to return them for 8 more and the manager was nasty and had a bad attitude. They could have resold the hay but she refused. I donated it to Chical since I don't have cows and did want sick horses. I will never do business there again. I have gone there for years to buy hay but that was the last time. read more
