I've never explored this museum as thoroughly as I have recently, and each time I go I see or experience something new. It is fabulous for all ages and can keep anyone entertained for hours. The museum itself is absolutely stunning, as well, housed in a building originally constructed in 1893 for the World's Fair. The ever-changing exhibits keep each return visit feeling fresh. I especially enjoyed the Anne Frank exhibit and The Costumes of Paul Tazewell (Wicked). There is a designated paid parking lot, but you can also park in the underground garage for a fee. The Obama Center is walking distance so don't skip that if you're in the area!

I was worried my toddler might be a little bit too young, but MSI does a great job of having spaces for all ages. We spent a lot of time downstairs looking at the fairy castles, baby chicks, in the mirror maze, and the idea factory! The idea factory was definitely a little outdated (my husband said nothing has changed since he came here as a kid) but even still, it was super cool and super perfect for toddlers. It's also great because this area is suuuper interactive (and especially aimed for smaller kiddos). The other space we spent a lot of time was the space exhibit. This is so cool with so much to see and learn. We can't wait to come back and see more of MSI! Super happy with our first visit with a little guy though.

In my opinion, this museum is way too vast to thoroughly experience it in one day. So, if you are short on time, like I was, map out your "must go to pieces" and hopefully, you would see some other gems on the way to your next "must see piece". Eventually we reconvened in the main area and consulted the visitor guide to ensure we maximized our time here, but it was still impossible to see everything. We happened to arrive right before noon, so we were able to peep in Fullerton Hall, which was cool. We also combed through the impressionism area and I enjoyed all the Monets. I then went on a MISSION to find American Gothic, which ended up being in an entirely different wing -- eventually I found it though. Paradise Lost was another highlight of course, as well as the Chicago Stock Exchange room recreation. We wrapped things up in the modern wing, and I was hyped to see several pieces from Andy Warhol, plus a Dali. If we didn't have a flight that night, we easily could've spent 2-3 more hours here.

The museum was packed since it was snowing outside. The museum has 3 floors full of different themes. We walked into the ancient Egypt room that resembles the inside of pyramid with the mummy coffins display. The underground adventure was pretty fun for small kids since it has interactive display. We love the dinosaur room with various type of dinosaur fossils. At the end, we saw Sue the T-rex and it had cool projected narration about the fossil. We roamed around for about 2 hours since we were already tired. However, we would love to visit this museum again as there are still a lot to see.

[A note, the Pokemon exhibit does require a separate timed ticket from general admission to the museum]. I love how they were careful to separate fact from fiction through color coordination and how the fossils mirrored some of the exhibits within the museum! We walked around some of the other areas and it was nice to see some of the classic exhibits as well as some of their newer ones. Its a great museum to explore and get lost in. Parking is pricey, but it's worth getting something close considering all the walking you'll do at the actual museum.

Very nice space packed with illusions, many classics but some unusual ones. And staff were great, from the front desk to the manager to the lady who helped us fully experience the exhibits with hints on how to see them best, and ideas (plus some had photos nearby with suggestions.) Kind of small, we spent about an hour, but had a lot of fun. We went right when they opened on a Sunday and it wasn't crowded then, but things picked up by the time we left. So come early to have a bit more freedom to roam.

People in Amsterdam will also ask if you have done a canal boat tour - and you have to do these when you visit these cities. Our docent volunteer guide, Steve, was excellent. He was very personable and extremely knowledgeable about the city's riverside buildings and its history. The boat staff was also hardworking and ready to help with any issues, from getting a drink at the boat's downstairs bar to handing out covers when the rain hit us. For what we paid, the 1.5 hour tour was more than worth it. I recommend sitting at the top towards the back, as you don't have to crane your neck as much when he points out places of interest. This was a truly wonderful experience and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Not a must see or do attraction but a great day filler activity as you explore the city. Loved the wealth of information they offer as it's valuable to understand Chicagos importance from the ground up! I thought it would be more about highlighting the amazing architectural buildings around the city but nothing like that. It's was more about the environmental impact the city has and the hurdles when designing buildings around town. The staff were friendly at check in and provided great service overall as they were kind and helpful. Small center that you may explore at your own pace and may or may not be worth the admission price. But scoring free tickets it allowed us to be selective in our day or day plans to include the activity to pay it a visit!

She was so neighborly, and we spoke for a solid thirty minutes about the artist who made the Fountain, her neighborhood, and other pieces of public art. She made us feel right at home and is a wonderful lady. It seems like some of the other reviews criticizing her behavior may not be telling the whole story. As I understand it, some visitors were disrespecting the public space by coming at odd hours and making large amounts of noise, or posing with the fountain in obscene ways. Calling her a Karen is a total misnomer-- everyone deserves peace and quiet, even if they live next to Shit Fountain. Come here for serenity, come for excellent and warm conversations, come with your heart open.

It has several items original to the home, plus some of Driehaus' collection. There was an art exibit of satirical prints from London and Dublin on display when we went through. Beautiful Tiffany lamps and chandeliers, marble, tile, woodworking throughout the whole home. Learned more about the history of Chicago and what it was like at the time the mansion was first built.

Beautiful museum with multiple floors, excellent customer service, plenty of comfortable seating, cool gift shop, and a cafe and restaurant too. It has everything I need! The vibes are good here. I enjoyed all the floors and saw an impressive variety of art. I also wanted to see the Yoko Ono exhibit and I really enjoyed it. I appreciated how interactive it was. There were a few writing stations with activities, such as writing about your mom and taping it to the wall, and writing a wish on a tag and tying it to the wish tree. One room was blue and there were blue markers available and people were encouraged to add to it. Fabulous venue!

We had such a great experience at Color Factory Chicago!…read more It truly was everything I expected and more. I went with both of my daughters (ages 22 and 11), and we all had an amazing time. It's not always easy to find something that everyone enjoys across that kind of age gap, but this was a hit for all of us. The exhibits were fun, interactive, and visually beautiful. You can tell a lot of thought went into each space. And of course, the ball pit was our favorite -- we could've stayed there all day! The staff really stood out as well -- friendly, welcoming, and very accommodating, which made the experience even better. Overall, such a fun, memorable outing. We'll definitely be back!

The candy was a HUGE hit -- the girls were excited about that one! The Taste the Color room was really cool and gave the experience a fun twist. The ball pit was another favorite -- the girls had a blast! The Save Her Hut was a fun stop along the way and made for some great memories. The Chicago History Museum was a bit of a mixed experience. It's a very nice facility, and several…read moreexhibits are incredible--notably 'Chicago: Crossroads of America,' which walks you through the city's history. The train engine and original 'L' car are fascinating, and that entire section is remarkably well thought out. The old-school dioramas downstairs were also fun to view, the Lincoln exhibit and artwork are well worth seeing, and the Emmett Till exhibit was powerful. In fact, based on the Chicago history exhibits alone, the museum is worth a visit. On the downside, a few exhibits felt far less compelling, focusing on individuals and literature that didn't feel particularly notable or historically significant. It felt somewhat like pandering and made for a quick walkthrough of space that could be better utilized. For instance, one exhibit was dedicated to a longtime street vendor--which might be novel to some, but felt deflating right after viewing Lincoln's life mask next door. The main issue, however, occurred downstairs. An event with music and dancing was taking place, which was fine since it was clearly roped off and didn't block access to any exhibits. However, a museum worker approached us and asked if he could help us find anything. I said, 'No, thank you,' but he persisted, insisting we check out the displays toward the front. I repeated, 'We're good, thanks.' He then explained that an event was taking place and said he needed us to move along. When I asked if the museum was closing, he said no. I pointed out that I had paid full admission, was not in the event space, and would prefer he walk away. I later watched a similar interaction with other guests, which required a supervisor to step in and tell these overzealous workers to leave patrons alone. It was an awkward and unfortunate end to our visit, and management definitely needs to address it.
