I went in to Chic Nails today for a pedicure and my first gel manicure. I was very pleased with not only how they turned out but the service and attention to detail. The young woman and man working on me did a wonderful job. I have rough patches on my toes that I keep for my sport and she understood and didn't scrub them too harshly. The water was a little hot when I put my feet into the tub but she quickly realized it and made it much more comfortable. I only took down one star because most of their nail polish colors were pretty close to Empty and looked old. Also it was pretty stuffy at times because of the lack of air flow. She is artistic, talented, and obviously knows what she's doing. I showed her a picture of the style and design I wanted and she brought it to life even with my quirks and random details. The salon itself was decent, clean, and pretty busy. I didn't get to catch the name of the nice, young lady who did my pedicure but I enjoyed it. She was thorough, and I was surprised how long the little leg and foot massage lasted. Hanna did my eyebrows as well, although I felt as if it were rushed - she was understandably busy and booked. I'm not a very picky person when it comes to my nails. I get them done every so often when I want to pamper myself. I feel like I have the worst luck when it comes to getting my nails done. They are never worth how much I pay for them. I went in today asking for a French tip ombré. I had saw a picture on their Yelp that made me want to get it done. I thought well if someone got their nails done here and they looked cute, so should mine. I was WRONG! She did a horrible job! I didn't get her name, but she is the lady who answers the phone. She didn't do the manicure part and I'm glad, because that seems to be the only okay part. I'm upset though on how ugly my gel came out. It looks like I sprayed a snow can on the tips of my nails. I will not be returning here. One last thing they file the ends of your nails after the finish which is so ridiculous because it's breaking the seal of the gel. What that means is your nails won't last as long as they should! read more

I arrive on time after being told I was the first appointment to the ladies there telling me they really don't take appointments. Don't waste your time. It's def not worth it. Came here for the first time on Thursday, I had Brenda and he sister work on me. They are both really nice and friendly. Brenda did my acrylics with gel on top, she did exactly what I asked for that no other place around seems to get it done and right. Night recommend never going anywhere els I found my new spot! After getting quite possibly the WORST gel manicure in the history of the South Bay, I decided to spend the time between two appointments in the MB area getting both mani & pedi. I had searched for nail shops online and this one seemed like a good midpoint in between... I am VERY happy to report that I was NOT disappointed. Parking is in the back, where there is an entrance. I was directed to choose a polish and was escorted to a pedi chair. The water was perfect, the massage chair worked well, and two ladies attended me - one for the gel mani and the other for my pedi. The gel manicure is amazing. I chose a very pretty glittery purple color and she did all the steps correctly - it turned out PERFECT. Two weeks later, it has grown out some and I am STILL getting compliments. The pedicure. Absolutely perfect. One of my toenails is damaged - I have actually lost it 3 or 4 times due to trauma, so now it grows v-e-r-y slowly, at an angle, with weird ridges and bumps and is an odd color. Too many pedicurists try to cut it to look normal and it just isn't going to ever be. This lady was very gentle, made sure all the old polish was off (hard to clean out those ridges sometimes) and then she actually used her tools to smooth out some of the more prominent bumps. She also made sure to clean well underneath the nail - so many others just bypass it. The last four times I went to a different place for a pedi, they cut my toes while trimming the cuticles, and one place put the callous scrub on my toes and it actually blistered and burned the skin off. NOT HERE. She was very careful but scrubbed vigorously to smooth out my horrible heels. I have received many compliments on the pedicure as well. I WILL be returning. The interior was clean, there was no hard sell for "eyebrows" or designs. TONS of polish selections, even for my gel - probably had at least 80 options. I saw at least three very large displays for other polish options as well. Music is at a low level and relaxing, not offensive. There is a TV on the wall but no one seemed too interested in watching, so I am not sure if they turn the volume on and the music off (which is what my preference would have been.) Not a great experience I must of gotten the "new girl ". She cut me while filing and it bled for the entire appt. I chose red for my color and ended up with it all over my cuticles . I left and went home and filed all the sharp corners she left . I purchased the callous remover and she didn't even do that well. Not going back . read more

I would of given lower stars if my pedicure wasn't so awesome. My full set was something else. At first they forgot I was getting one so I waited an hour till someone came to help me, which was after I repeatedly asked. I had 4 people come in after me that also asked for a pedicure and full set and were helped immediately. Anyways, I found a design I liked from their yelp reviews, I asked for part of the design and I got a mess instead. The design can't even be compared because it was so messy (and it was done by the same person!). I had been there 3 hours and in the end I wiped the nail polish and did it myself when I got home. I even had to refile my nails because they were uneven and some nails were a lot longer than others. If I wasn't constantly getting an annoyed reaction by Hannah then I would of asked her to do it but being there for 3 hours was enough especially after an hour wait. It's worse having to pay 28 dollars for nails that you end up hating. (22 for full set, 3 for design on each finger) UPDATE: 2 days after getting my nails done, 2 of my nails cracked from typing on my laptop! I wasnt even typing crazy enough to break a nail so clearly these nails weren't glued on properly or they are cheap and thin. What a waste of money, I lowered my review stars to one. One of my best friends is from Manhattan Beach and has been coming to Chic Studios for years. She brought me here for the first time 3 years ago and I've been coming here since. I've had every single employee over the past three years and they all do a wonderful job. No matter how beat up and gross my nails/cuticles are when I arrive, when I leave they look beautiful and they stay that way for weeks. I'm extremely clumsy and always mess up my nails but whatever they do here makes them much more durable. I also love to get foot and regular massages when I visit salons and they give AMAZING ones here! Not only are they amazing but they're incredibly affordable! I wish Chic Studios was a little closer since I live in Westwood but I always try to make a trip down to the beach or Manhattan Beach whenever my nails need to be done so I can come to Chic. I definitely have made the drive purely to get my nails done numerous times too though. read more

I went to this little shop twice recently, as I was staying at LA airport and needed an acrylic fill. I got Hannah and recommend her highly. She did a perfect pedi and manicure with nail art. She is gifted with nail art. go to their website and you can see pics. Everything was efficient, friendly. It is all Vietnamese, and they were all perfectionist. I personally think we are really lucky to have the Vietnamese in this business, they do a great job. I was so happy with the work, I made another appt for 2 weeks later when I came back from Mexico vacation. Again I got a very different color scheme and nice nail art. I had them completely change my whole acrylic set to brand new, with 4 nails of art for $35. A plain fill is maybe 18. So great value compared to my hometown. I went here less than 2 weeks ago because the reviews were so good. I hateeee leaving bad reviews but I wish I would've been warned. I went to get the Dipping powder fill in. Nancy started doing my nails (super nice lady but you can tell she didn't know how to do the dipping powder), the manager came and looked and notice she wasn't doing it correctly so she took over. She shaved all the nails back down, taking off what Nancy had already put on, and she did the rest herself. After a week went by, 3 nails had already popped off! I know they would've fixed it for free if I went back but I don't have time to even chance that. Maybe they are better at gel nails and other services. read more

This is the most uneducated place to get your nails done. I went through their photo album (which had some horrible pictures) and I saw a design I wanted. After explaining to them to do the design and then put a clear gel topcoat over it, they proceeded to tell me that that was not an option and you can not put a gel topcoat over regular nail polish. What in the world?!?! How do they not know that. So I had to interrupt the lady who started on my pedicure so I could leave! That's dumb. They need some kind of continued education when it comes to new styles and products and techniques. DONT GO HERE IF YOU WANT ANYTHING REMOTELY CLOSE TO BEING "INNOVATIVE"!! read more

Came in on a Saturday around 11:00am. Wasn't too crowded. Waited for about 5 minutes. Was greeted when I walked in. Everyone was very friendly. I got a full set with clear gel coating (done by Ann) and a pedicure (done by Julie) I very pleased with both. The total for both was $57.00 (Plus .50 for using card) but I don't remember the individual break down. I appreciated that both ladies took their time and ensured I was satisfied. I hate when I go into shops and feel like they are rushing through my service. I got basic French Tip on both my hands and my feet. However, a woman next to me came in with a picture from the Internet with all these crazy designs and they mimicked it very well. There is parking out front and some additional in the back but it is a little limited. Coming around peak hrs may be a problem. All in all, I was very happy with the customer service and my nails! After reading the raving reviews I made an appointment with Hannah and I'm so glad I did! She is very detailed and always asks if my acrylics look the way I want them to and then adjusts so they look perfect! I like mine very natural looking (will try to post a pic later) and Hannah made them look short and thin and natural. I keep getting compliments and most people think I'm wearing french tipped gel - not acrylics. Yay! Highly recommend Hannah! Just a note to first-timers, the salon itself is pretty drab and unimpressive - located off of busy Aviation in a run down strip mall. It didn't really set up right, and I've had better for the same price. ($25) The salon seems clean, but i'm not sure if the tools were super ultra sterilized--they may have been, I have no reason to think they weren't, but it wasn't obvious that they were sterile as it is in some salons. I had called my usual nail salon hoping to get an appointment with my usual girl but found out she was gone :( I Yelped for a salon nearby and up popped Chic. I walked in and was helped right away (though I don't think that's typical for a Friday afternoon but it was Valentine's Day and most people don't wait until the last minute like me).
