In terms of location, there are several shops, restaurants, cafes, laundromats, pharmacies, and grocery stores for convenience. Deepa is just a wonderful caring person and is briliant in how she operates her bed-and-breakfast. She puts out a great spread for breakfast every morning which is delicious, fresh, and scrumptious. Make sure you get one of her special croissants. Rooms are very well cleaned and has all the conveniences you would need which include a comfortable bed, a private bathroom/shower, a TV, and a closet to name a few. There is also a common area on the second floor where you could lounge to relax, use the computer, the kitchen, and mingle with other travelers. I highly recommend this place to anyone traveling to London. I plan to stay here on my next trip.

The bedrooms are always immaculately clean with a brilliant shower (or bath if you prefer) and a comfortable bed. Breakfast is served in the new conservatory and is a great place to start the day, and healthy too with fresh fruit salad a must! It's also really nice being able to sit outside in the garden on a sunny day and have a cup of tea. Mike and Lynda are both very friendly and always make us feel welcome. Its one of our favourite places to stay and we can't recommend it enough.

The pub is steeped in history and that is reflected in the well kept but near un-touched interior. They have some great ales on tap and all are served with a friendly smile and, if not too busy, are happy to talk through some of the pub's history. The garden here in the summer is fantastic. The views are breath-taking and they run a barbecue every Sunday which of course, does attract a huge crowd so either get there early or have some extra bags of patience with you. We head there without fail once a year with a big group of friends and spend the whole afternoon eating and drinking beer, I highly advise you to do the same!

We live just over the road and were gutted to see the decline of a once special local eatery called…read moreLalakash. The place sat empty for just over a year, leaving Lower Kingswood without a village pub. Then early this year, the Royal Gurkha rises from the ashes with a great blend of Nepalese and Indian cuisine at very reasonable prices. On top of that, they also do a mixture of traditional "pub lunch" food (jackets and sandwiches) in the pub (they've reverted the interior to 50/50 pub and restaurant). Special offers on Wednesday and Sunday of 4 dishes for £10 have seen some turned away recently it's gone down that well and they received a 4star review from the local papers food critic last month. Always friendly and courteous on greeting and serving guests, Sunil, Suraj and the rest of the staff are running this family business in the heart of a small village in exactly the right way. Long may it continue (and not just because they've given me my local pub back!!) Try the Junglee Bhaji if you're just in for a drink - not on the menu, but its literally the best bar snack ever made!!

They provide comfortable, basic accomodation near to Gatwick, plus will drive you to the airport in the morning. They also provide airport parking for around £4 per night. We stayed here for an early morning departure and left at around 5.30 am. They do a breakfast buffet from a more civilised time around 7am but as we were leaving before that they gave us a basket of breakfast containing croissants and jam, plus there were tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The rooms are quite old fashioned but clean and the staff were very nice. If you are leaving for the airport later in the day (I think after 10am) you have to make your own way there, plus we had to get back by ourselves. Cost us around £74 for the night and a weeks parking so worked out at fantastic value compared to the cheapest airport hotels. I would definitely stay here for an early morning departure again.

When looking for a hotel for our five night stay, there were many affordable options in good areas of London, but in the end we chose 69 The Grove, a lovely B&B in the Vauxhall area of London, and it was a GREAT decision. 69 The Grove is so-called because the address is 69 Vauxhall Grove. It is in the Vauxhall area, which is just south of the Thames. While a bit further away from all the main attractions in London, it was just a five minute walk to Vauxhall Station, on the Victoria Line, and took just 20 to 30 minutes to get to wherever we needed to go. It was a perfect balance of being in a quiet residential area and having quick and easy access to the busier parts of the city. It was also within walking distance of many restaurants, parks, Westminster Abbey, Parliament Square, Lambeth Bridge, and other attractions. I absolutely loved the area. The price of our five night stay was $1,205.35 CAD (including all taxes), and a full English breakfast is included each morning, Monday to Saturday -- an excellent value. While the room was small, it had everything we needed -- a private bathroom, comfy bed, a mini fridge and kettle, and it was clean and quiet. If my budget allows, I want to make another trip to London, and I hope 69 The Grove is still in operation. It was such a pleasant place to stay, and I would not hesitate to go back. Good location. Extremely dirty room and bathroom. My bed…read moresmelled like piss and there was no AC, I opened the windows during the day to let the room air out (I'm quite temperature sensitive) and when I came back the windows were closed as he made up my room. The bathroom was atrocious. A 3 foot by 8 foot shoe box which was extremely disgustingly dirty. The shower door was broken and the fan was so dirty it made me gag. Was woken up at 6:30 every morning by loud noises as the walls are thin. Additionally the owner was extremely weird and overtly friendly. He offered me a visa to live in England within 3 minutes of meeting him. Saying he has a job for me. He forced me into a conversation about American politics and gun control. When I mentioned I was going to a restaurant with friends when he asked me what my plans are in London, he said he might go to the same restaurant on the same day (effectively inviting himself to come with me). The stairs up to the third floor were filled with whatever he was hoarding, making extremely unsafe in the event of a fire. He left the front door unlocked at most times and as a result I never felt safe inside the building. Additionally the English breakfast was bad. Overcooked rashers and frozen hard sausage links. The mushrooms were bland, the tomatoes were not ripe and very hard and the eggs were swimming in butter and also very bland. He did not season anything. The bread he gave me was under toasted and bad. He made sure that I ate some fruit like he was my parent, calling me "My boy". His "helper/server" during the one breakfast I went to had 0 clue how to operate as a server and it seemed like they were in a weird relationship. Overall extremely creepy and weird vibes. If the issue was just a misleading room description and dirty bathroom I would have been able to stay for my entire reservation, but the vibes I got from the whole operation were very bad. I left after 3 of 7 days and never looked back, trying to not let it ruin my trip to England.
