As a parent I can say one of the things that is always cautious is that you never know a 100% what is going on with your child so a lot of trust is involved but from what I have seen and the reactions I get from my child they have a very fun hands on program with the kids and you couldn't really ask much more. I will probably re-review in the coming years when my child enters the older classrooms to see how the development is handled. As of now though it is pretty good.

Sadly, in under six weeks, our experience became extremely stressful and heartbreaking. From the start, we received repeated negative feedback about normal toddler behaviour. One bathroom accident was described to us as "the worst in six years." We were told his removing his shoes in class (normal in our home) was a problem rather than something to be understood. On his first full day, because he didn't nap, we were encouraged to move him to half days. By the end of the month, his teacher suggested he might be "better off returning next year." Shortly after, we were informed that our son was on "strike 5" due to having more bathroom accidents than the school allows. This was devastating especially because he had just undergone umbilical hernia surgery and was on a doctor-prescribed daily laxative, which caused temporary loss of bowel control. Once we realized how serious it had become, we immediately provided doctor's notes and full transparency. Instead of compassion, we felt pressure and judgment. Our son began feeling uncomfortable approaching staff when he needed help, which no child especially at this age should ever feel. We did not choose to withdraw him. We felt pushed out by policies that allowed no grace for a child healing from surgery. The emotional toll on our family was overwhelming. A faith-based school should lead with patience, understanding, and care. Sadly, that was not our experience. I share this so other parents can make an informed decision.

The overall school atmosphere is like something out of a fairytale. From pick up to drop off, we are greeted with smiling faces, kind students, friendly parents and an overall feeling of inclusion. Academically, we were impressed with the curriculum at the PK and K levels. In addition to his normal class schedule, our son has two special-subject areas each day; one being Coding (taught by the amazing Rachel Kaplan). All special areas are wonderful, but as I understand it, MFS is the only school in NJ to teach Coding (which is the future) at the PK and K levels. We are planning to start our younger son, age 2, into the PS program next year as he will be old enough to enroll (age 3) by September.

He came from a private school in Philadelphia where he graduated top of his class, and won Pennsylvania awards for musicianship and was head chorister at his professional church choir. He is also now an award winning pianist and composer. His creativity was saved at MFS by Ed Robertson and Rich Marcucci - just wonderful artists and musicians. Other than that no one else seemed to care about his level of musicianship. During his junior year we asked for specific help about applying to creative and performing arts schools. During College admissions night, the guidance counselors admitted to us they had no process in place for developing our creative students' porfolios. After checking with Westtown School, Friends Central, Friends Select and Germantown Friends, we realized that MFS was really lacking in their ability to help our creative children. After spending $16,000 a year on our son's high school education we were truly disappointed in MFS's lack of help for our creative child and also their lack of folow up after the college admissions night. They really had no idea how to treat college applications for creative students. They only seemed to are about Ivy League level students and had no interest in their creative students. We would truly like to know whether things have changed. If not, I will continue to recommend Moorestown High School or one of the Philadelphia Friends Schools if parents have a creative child and live in this area. Renee Jones

The paperwork requirement is ridiculous (same name, number, emergency pick up info 5 times of different form, every year , even if your kid is enrolled, and nothing changes. Get Google forms!!!!!). The lifecubby app (touted as an improvement!) is worse then then the daily sheet - no detail of book they read, or song they sang, or words of letters they focused on, so now conversation starters now with my kid :(

Unfortunately, that feeling changed completely at pickup. When we arrived, we walked to her classroom and noticed the children were outside on the toddler playground, with the door propped open by a foam block. As we approached, we witnessed a teacher forcefully grab another child by the arm. That moment immediately raised serious concerns. We went outside right away to find our daughter. The staff member supervising the group was not her usual teacher. The supervising staff member appeared to be very overwhelmed watching the young children. When I located her among the other children, her face was very red and there was a visible mark on her arm that resembled a handprint. I picked her up and we left immediately. Before leaving, I stopped at the director's office to report what we had seen. I was told there are no cameras covering the outdoor area. What a huge liability! I requested a refund and we will not be returning. This experience was deeply upsetting, and I would strongly urge other parents to carefully consider their options.

Our daughter began attending Cornerstone Montessori when she was three and has been there for two…read moreyears. She has had a wonderful learning experience there and I credit her teachers for the warm and caring environment in which all the students are learning. The children learn everything from personal responsibility and life skills to learning how to read and write, developing a strong foundation in math skills, and an understanding of the world around us through social studies, geography, and science. The students enjoy weekly lessons in Spanish, cooking, gym, art, music, and more. The students also experience at least two field trips during the school year, playing in the snow (as long as they bring appropriate snow gear), Bike Day at the end of each month, a few celebrations, such as International Day where families come in and teach the students about their heritage. CMS encourages family involvement, whether it's participating in special events or coming in to teach a lesson. Families may be as involved as they choose to be and aren't pressured to do more than they can give. Cornerstone Montessori also offers before- and after-school care for working parents like us and three 2-week summer sessions. The summer sessions are great for parents who would like to check out the school and see if it is right for their child as well as for students who are already enrolled to maintain the skills they have developed during the school year and continue on their learning path. The summer sessions are more relaxed and additional fun activities are scheduled. We are so pleased with our experience at Cornerstone Montessori, and we are sure you will be, too. I also said it is NOT my job to tell a parent and diagnosis any child with Autism. You had ask me several times in the few weeks he was here if I thought he was Autistic. I said he has some tendencies. We met many times to discuss all of your concerns that you had with your son. Miss Renee has many many years of experience in this field and myself. I take pride in what we both do to provide excellent care and proper education skills for all the children going through Carousel to succeed in their future education. Berlin Boro and many other school districts tell our parents going into kindergarten that the children coming from Carousel Academy are the most prepared kids coming from any other preschool and excel in their first year of big school. We worked through your child's day by day experiences. We gave your child a one on one aide, me being one of them at times. You thanked me up and down for keeping him here and working with your son. We tried our best and felt he needed to have more one on one assistance and maybe look into getting him evaluated with your school district. I Never and will Never tell any parent their child has Autism. It is not my job! I wished you and your son support by giving you necessary contacts and also said we are here if you need any other support contacts. We have his cousin here and he has been very successful in our program. There is a place for EVERY child, you just have to find the right fit.

Two of our three children currently attend St. Joseph. Our eldest is in the HS. We have never had an issue or doubt as to whether we have made the right choice. The academics are challenging and standardized testing is not an issue for the kids. I would recommend this school to anyone, catholic or non catholic like myself.
