I was notified two hours prior to the actual hearing that David would be withdrawing from the case. He made the mistake of consulting with my ex-wife and her husband two weeks prior the hearing. The judge would not issue a continuance for the hearing. I was at a huge disadvantage and the outcome has been a complete detriment to my efforts to protect my son and his situation. I am not convinced he had to withdraw. I was in David's office during the Zoom hearing. He exited the room when the magistrate said she would not issue a continuance and wouldn't even bring me a cup of water. In the three and half months that I retained David, I had sent a simple question about the date and specifics of the hearing through the portal. Weeks went by and I would follow up asking if I could receive an answer. Not until six weeks had passed and I had phoned the main office requesting support would he or his paralegal Keary respond. He was attentive and accessible in my initial consult before receiving retainer After that, my messages would go unanswered. Meanwhile, I was paying $650 a month. When my hearing arrived, his paralegal Keary made a complete mess of my exhibits. Messages I exported from legal text were not in chronological order, and included many items that were not helpful whatsoever. She didn't include the attendance report at my son's school where he missed 60 periods in one semester, injunctions placed on opposing party's husband from kids, important messages that demonstrated the mom was refusing to pick up her child. When I had to represent myself that morning, I was at a total loss with the poor production of my exhibits. I handed David a perfectly packaged case and he completely fumbled it.

Nor was there any information about the next step would be. When I came home for mediation and called her office to setup an appointment to prep for the mediation. I was told that she would call me back and never did. Instead she sent me a copy of her filing saying she didn't want to be my attorney anymore to the court. All without even saying anything to me. I always paid her on time and paid her the full amount. But after she filed to withdraw, she sent me a $200 bill for her "time" it took to file to withdraw. I seriously do not recommend. I filed for divorce in 2013 and hired this attorney. She was ok-not great, but would show up for…read morecourt late and also lost her paralegal due to "domestic violence issues" very suddenly and made lewd remarks on the fact that the paralegal was "missing" and was very harsh and seemingly careless about the situation that her paralegal may have been in. I found this incredibly unprofessional and immediately saw red flags. My children and I were also going through domestic violence at that time, which was not disclosed to her, but it should go without saying that a good, decent divorce attorney should be careful when it comes to certain subjects. At that time, I decided to reconcile, but she never even closed out my case and kept the rest of the retainer anyways! When I went to file for divorce again in 2016 (nearly 2 years later) is when i discovered that the first case was never closed. Being unfamiliar with the legal process (hence the reason why ppl hire attorneys in the first place) and suffering from a rare brain disease shortly after reconciling in 2014, I was even more disgusted by her professional ethics to have put me and my children in a situation where it appeared as though I had an open divorce for that long. To top it off, I recently requested my file from her, where she at first blew me off saying they are in storage-but as I kept pushing the issue- she has only given me emails of court records and an empty pdf, nothing more, all of which consisted of a few emails, with several of the same (duplicate) emails. She knows she did wrong and I dont usually ever write reviews about ppl/businesses...but in this case, when someone is dealing with your LIFE, the LIFE and FUTURE of your CHILDREN (who have already suffered so much), while taking thousands upon thousands of dollars, I have to speak up. I want to warn others from making the mistake of choosing/hiring this lawyer. I know lawyers dont have the best reputation, but there are some who truly do care and will have you and your childrens best interest at heart, while not grossly overcharging you. When I went to refile in 2016, after thoroughly researching candidates, (a lot more in depth this time around) I hired Mr. Clark Henderson. At that time, he was at a law practice called Campbell & Henderson, and was literally sent by God himself. Completely different experience with him, which I will write a separate review. I made one phone call and within minutes I was contacted by Sherry Ivey Jones. I hired her based upon a strong reputation from other clients testimonials as well as her timely response. My probation was re-instated and extended for a year. She filed a motion and I managed to report to the court without ever being arrested or spending a moment in jail. Her staff kept me up to date all along the way. Here is an email I just sent her: One week ago at this moment I sat in Judge Stone's courtroom with my immediate future hanging in the balance. The previous day, sitting in a hotel room with my mother, was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life. Knowing the stress she was under made my reality a burden I never want to endure again. Looking back, the severity of the situation I was in, didn't fully sink in until after we met with you (Ms. Jones) Monday evening. Neither one of us ate much at all, nor slept for that matter, before getting back home. This past week we both have been going through a range of emotions.
