The fresh fish selection is still somewhat limited, though all of it tasted very fresh and they do have Kingfish to round out the standard offerings of Ahi and Salmon. Which is one better than most of the local sushi places. While Sakana is still not as good as Stillwater was, it's now probably the best local option for sushi on the Sunshine Coast. Wasabi up in Noosa is technically better, though of course it will cost you a small fortune to dine there. Sakana offers much more reasonable pricing, generous portions (the rolls are still quite large, but now that the quality has picked up I consider that a positive), and solid flavors. The Cherry Blossom Tree doesn't offer a ton of variety or any particularly creative sushi rolls of the sort you might expect to find at a sushi joint in San Francisco (or even one on the Gold Coast), but the quality of everything that they do offer is good, and the prices are reasonable. Considering the lackluster sushi scene on the Sunshine Coast, that's good enough for 4 stars. Really though I'm still hoping that a truly world-class sushi restaurant will come to the area in the near future. If that happens, the Cherry Blossom Tree might be in trouble.
