Nice atmosphere, great service, and delicious food were all present at Cheddar's on this night. We started out with well made margaritas and with this I had Sweet Heat Chicken and Shrimp and found it to be very enjoyable. Went for lunch while on a business trip. The layout was exactly the same as the Cheddar's I know in Austin. So I walked straight to the bar. The menu was the same as well. I went for the lemon pepper chicken which is delicious. It comes with two breasts and I can't ever finish the second. Cheddar's has always had very large portions, which is a great value for the price. The food was just as I expected - it was good. The service was great. Food was really good but the service was unfortunately pretty bad. The disappointing service started as soon as we walked in. The lady who sat us down pointed at the table, mumbled something, and left quickly without telling us our waiters name or when he would "arrive shortly" or whatever a usual hostess would say. I drove over here to TX from Florida and when my buddy said since he's moved here, he wanted to try this place out, I was a bit skeptical because of the word "Scratch" in the title. Initially, I was thinking to myself, "I didn't just drive 900+ miles for food poisoning". However, this one not the case! We walked in to a very warm greeting, solid atmosphere with lots of families and even though it was a busy dinner time, during the week, the timeliness of our service was quite impressive. The options for types of food was endless. Steak, burgers, pasta, sandwiches, salads, seafood (fish and shrimp from what I remember) and the prices are reasonable. They are generous with the portions and I was glad about that because my chicken Parmesan was so delicious, I didn't want it to go to waste. We took our leftovers to go and ate them for lunch the next day. My 2 daughters (10 and 7) did have a tough time deciding what they wanted because they usually order off of the adult menu anyway, but there is enough options in the kid section for your little ones. My husband and I had dinner here last night after circling the Wichita Falls area for some very casual dining. We entered a nicely decorated and clean restaurant and were greeted very well by the hostess there at Cheddar's. Our waitress, Hope, was very friendly and very helpful with the menu. She checked on us every three to four minutes and kept our glasses filled. She answered our questions very well and held up a nice conversation not just with us, but with other customers around us. Very welcoming and very pleasant experience with her. We were pleasantly surprised with the various drink options and the prices of them! They were very affordable and the variety was great! I had a drink called the Painkiller that was very nicely made. (it states there is a 2 drink minimum per guest for this drink). I enjoyed the huge glass and I understood completely after the first drink why this has a minimum notice to customers. ;-) We ordered the Spasagna Bites as an appetizer. They're huge golf sized balls rolled up with parmesan, mozzarella and ricotta Spasagna tossed in seasoned bread crumbs that are golden fried. Served with a side of homemade marinara sauce that is quite delicious. We loved the appetizer and the price (under $8) for a huge oval plate is phenomenal! We had to bag up the rest of the bites to take home to eat this evening. Our main entrees were: 1. The Chicken and Waffles for my husband. I took a taste of it, and that was a great dish! The batter on the chicken is absolutely scrumptious! It definitely is a conversation booster over the dinner table. We needed more syrup and that was promptly provided and he enjoyed every bite! He could only eat 1/3 of his dinner so we bagged that up also! The waffles are a crisp, light crunchy piece and holds the syrup quite well. We'll be returning just for this dinner. 2. My dinner was the Chicken Pot Pie and again, it was very delicious. The flaky crust over the creamy chicken and vegetables was exactly what I wanted. The creaminess is not overwhelming, it coats the food quite well and the crunch in the crust is absolutely like grandma used to make it! I loved the dish, and again, this was boxed up because I couldn't finish it. Overall, our visit to Cheddar's was very pleasant and we will be returning again next time we are in town. We will find another Cheddar's here in the Dallas area and try their restaurant out. I would definitely recommend this place to others! read more

I usually like Cheddars but tonight, I called to place a to-go order. The guy at the bar was rude on the phone. I think his name was John. I couldn't really understand him because he talked so fast. At the end of my order, he repeated my order to me and he spoke legibly and got it correct. Good thing I didn't have anything further to say because he made a comment and then click, hung up the phone. I don't even know when my order will be ready; I assume in 15-20 minutes like other times. Luckily, I have had good service all the other times I've been to Cheddars and the times I've called for to-go orders. Yummy food, good atmosphere. Really wanted to give a shout out to our sweet waitress who was kind enough to be worried that I was with a super controlling boyfriend when he ordered for me (she didn't say anything at first but we could tell by her facial expression). We watched parties of as many as 5 people come in, get seated immediately, eat and leave. After over an hour our option was continue to wait or set in 2 booths that backed up to each other Not much of an option after an hour+ wait. On the way to the booths, two tables were open that were pushed together for us to use. The prices are relatively low for the amount of food you get. I'm from California and Cheddars was recommended as a "Texas" restaurant I should visit. Husband and I ordered cheese and chips for our appetizer and two combo meals (steak and tenders). The appetizer was really good, the cheese is delicious and they also give you salsa. If you run out of chips, they will happily bring your more freshly made chips. I highly recommend ordering chips. When it came to the entree however, I would not recommend their steaks or tenders. I ordered my steak medium rare, it came out well. No joke, there was no pinkness inside =( This seems like a great place to come grab a drink and chips while watching a game. If you have a party of more than 6, forget about even trying to get a table. It will ALWAYS be AT LEAST an hour wait regardless if anybody is in the restaurant. The hostesses (bless their hearts) try, but when the manager doesn't even care about getting your business, that's when there is a problem. We try every year to come here for at least one birthday and they never seem to get this straight... Yet we still come back. This is the WORST customer service from a "manager" ...every.single.time. Cheddars has been one of our favorite stops here in Wichita Falls until today. We go on off hours to avoid the crowds and the resultant drop in service quality during peak hours. Today we ordered the Spinach dip, it was cold and lacked the usual creamy rich quality that we enjoy. Our server appeared to be stressed and a bit disoriented. She brought the dip, then came back a bit later to apologize for the wait, she had forotten that she brought the dip. We ordered the roasted Pear salad and the Shrimp and Ribs. The Ribs were ok, small amount on the plate for Cheddars standards. Four rib bones.And then four smallish shrimp. We had to remind her to bring an extra plate we had requested when we ordered. The salad was desultory. Lettuce was a bit off, and very few pears to be found. We had good drinks, Raspberry lemonade and Iced Tea.Our server brought several refills, so we asked for a take away cup for each to avoid wasting the drinks. She brought two full drinks in take away cups. At that point we just went with it. Once we got home, we found that our debit card had been charged for our meals twice with the resultant hold on the card balance. Very annoying indeed.
