I have eaten at Cheddars in the past in different cities however this one specifically was not pleasing. Food was subpar. Many dishes were not seasoned well or plain, very BLAND, specifically the grilled pasta shrimp and the chicken tenders. When our food was brought out they were all running cold. Service was not consistent and very slow. In addition, I am very disappointed that they have removed the cheddar mac and cheese from their menu. When I got my food, I ordered fully loaded baked potato, which was not really loaded at all. Just a few sprinkles of cheddar cheese and sour cream. My other side dish was sweet carrots. I was brought corn. The salmon was okay. I just felt like my significant other and I didn't quite enjoy our evening out for dinner. This place is pretty good! Way better than apple bees, red Robbin or any other type of restaurant like that. I got the chicken tender platter and they were really good! Better than Texas Roadhouse "country critter platter." Their honey/butter croissants are also super good. They bring it out to the table before your food but can also order more as an appetizer. Well, I have no idea what their food is like. My wife and I are visiting Jacksonville for the first time and on a strong recommendation decided to try Cheddars for lunch. The hostess took us into the main room and was going to seat us at a table center stage, I'm a more private person and asked nicely if we good get a booth as several were available of to the side. Instead of one of these, she took us through the restaurant and into the bar to the very furthest booth available in the building. We sat there ignored for about 15 minutes and gave up and left. Soooo... I was too busy FaceTiming and didn't get any photos of the establishment.. however, I got photo of my food!!! Plenty of parking, so don't worry at all! I went on a Thursday at 2PM. Not busy. I got seated right away. From the look of it, plenty of seatings/table. They had a nice size bar to the left of the restaurant. I was sat in a booth. Very spacious. My server greeted me right away. She was very sweet and kind! Saw how I was on FaceTime with my sister and gave me plenty of privacy while being so attentive to me. I ordered the Country Fried Steak with southern green beans and mashed potatoes. It came out quickly!! Probably within 10mins!!!! And holyyyyy. That was a big piece of meat!!! Tons of gravy. Yaaassss, I love gravy! Underneath was a Texas toast that I didn't know was there until I cut into the steak. Very buttery and toasty! The country fried steak was sooo crispy and flavorful. I almost cried happy. Even told my sister how good it was!!! The green beans were delicious. Had nice onions to compliment it. The mash potatoes were delicious with the white gravy. This review relates to service only as I was not able to eat here. Walked inside at 820 on Sunday and asked to put a to-go order in. Hostess at the front instructed me to go to the bar area. I went to the bar and stood there for 10 minutes with no one there. I then went back to the same hostess and said no on is there. She said the bartender is probably on a break. I then asked if I could put an order with her. She then said..."It's 830, we stop taking orders 30 minutes before we close" So...I didn't get to eat here. Will be staying at the Hilton next door for a week and planned to eat at Cheddar's every night. Now I will look for anyplace with better service. Sad. read more

I got the lemon pepper chicken. The chicken was very bad. It was fatty and had very little flavor. The rice was hard and over salted. I got a loaded baked potato that wasn't even good. And the green beans, I don't even know how to describe the taste but they were horrible. I usually power through and still eat my food if I don't really like it, but after a few bites of everything I couldn't eat it anymore. Another person I was with got kids chicken tenders. Had a great time out with my mother at Cheddar's today. We haven't eaten out together in such a long time and we needed a bonding moment. We were seated as soon as we walked in. Our timing was good because a wait list started a few minutes after we arrived and it was only noon. Our server was Jackie. She was so sweet! Bringing over hot water without asking. I think she could tell how cold I was. Don't sit in a booth by the window when it's 35F outside. It was freezing! The hot tea really helped. I ordered the lemon pepper grilled white fish, no rice and extra salad (with a nice side of tomato herb vinaigrette) and my mother got the blackened grilled salmon with rice, a baked sweet potato, and buttered corn. It was good! Really flavorful and juicy. Nothing like the dry, nasty white fish with the burnt butthole aftertaste I was used to as a child. The lemon pepper actually made me enjoy it. Never thought it would happen. I usually stick with more flavorful fish, but this was just as good. The salad wasn't too interesting. Just mixed greens, cucumbers, and shredded carrot. Mom was completely into her salmon. Said it was cooked properly and tasted amazing. She ate everything on her plate. "It had a nice taste to it. All of it. Especially the salmon." I got the mini strawberry cheesecake and my mom got the mini key lime pie for dessert. Just the perfect amount to satisfy your sweet tooth and finish a meal. Our bill came to $27.33 which is good for two people for lunch. If we had settled with just water, it would have been even cheaper. This is why I love most Cheddar's: you leave with a full belly and a full wallet and the food is quality. read more

We placed an order for two specialty drinks and two appetizers. One appetizer we requested to have bacon on only 1/2 the dish. The waitress laughed and said they would try but chances are they couldn't do it. We awkwardly just stated that it would be OK. After a time she returned with only one specialty drink, dropped it at the table, and walked off. After a long period of waiting she then returned with the appetizers with bacon over the entire dish. She then asked us if we were ready to order. We put all our orders in and then informed her that she might have forgotten but we were still waiting on one of our specialty drinks. Seeming annoyed she just turned and walked away to head to the bar. She returned and handed it over without a word and walked off again. As we ate the appetizers we noticed how several people who had been seated after us were already receiving their meals. After an almost 45 minute wait we finally had to flag her down. Without an apology and after a moment of silence and apparent confusion. She claimed that their systems went down and that she had to re-enter our order into the system again. I feel like as soon as this happened we should have been notified. One of the members of our party had to leave because of the unexpectedly long wait time so she asked for her meal to go and for her check. After some time they finally brought out her meal but when she opened it to check it they forgot her salad. She made a comment and the waitress just stared. She then asked if the waitress had remembered the check and she said she forgot it and walked off again. She returned to our table twice more without bringing the check. After another long wait a very annoyed manager showed up to try and apologize about the system shutting down. We just begged her to please bring us the check my friend needed. After an almost two hour wait the rest of us finally received our meals. Both the waitress and manager seemed annoyed and I felt they were insincere in their apologies. read more

I went to Cheddars last night with my boyfriend. It's aesthetically pleasing so it looks fairly promising. We ordered the onion rings and Wisconsin cheese bites (recommended from our server, who was actually very nice) to start. They took a while to come out and both came out freezing cold. 5 minutes later, our entrees were plopped onto the table as well. (Which really annoys me) He got a sirloin steak, which he enjoyed. I got the grilled salmon....... this is where my issues really begin. I now have food poisoning. I got home last night and by 11pm I was repeatedly vomiting and couldn't leave the toilet. I missed worked today because I feel God awful and I cannot leave my bed. Avoid this place if you can... really. Not worth it. read more

The food was good and the prices were reasonable. I recently ate here with a larger group, three couples with toddlers and teenagers. Because the restaurant does not take reservations we were told it'd be an hour wait even though it did not appear busy at all. We only waited about 40 minutes and were seated in the back which was nice for privacy. I was highly disappointed, however, in the service. From the beginning it seemed as if we were a burden on the hostess and servers. It took quite some time for our orders to be taken and then again at the end of the meal we waited quite some time for the checks to be settled even though our parties were clearly divided. All in all, my family will probably eat here again but we'll limit our expectations when it comes to service. read more

First tried cheddars in 2016, don't really remember how it was so we tried it last night. The wait for 5 wasn't bad, 35 minutes. Payday weekend for the military... understandable. Our server was ok, nothing too special. The food definitely isn't anything to brag about. The chicken in the alfredo and pot pie tasted like the bagged chicken from walmart. To top off the end experience, the server charged us $64 for an $18 meal. My husband had to hunt her down and let her know but she was insisting she didn't do that but our cars reflected otherwise. I haven't been to Cheddar's in sometime. It had been my favorite casual restaurant up until yesterday . My sister was visiting from out of state and has never been to a Cheddar's. We were there when they opened, not at all busy. Some of the food wasn't hot, even though the plates were. I ordered southern green beans and couldn't taste any seasoning not even salt or pepper. They looked like they were sitting in a bowl of water. My sister ordered steak which was grizzly and not cooked to order. The waitress OFFERED steak sauce to my sister then never brought it. We had to ask for it. Not once were we offered refills on our beverages, not even water. She forgot the dessert I had asked her to surprise my grandson with. When we told her nevermind she recommended another restaurant to get dessert. Against my advise my sister still tipped 20%. We were celebrating my grandson last day of elementary school and thankfully his food was perfect. I didn't want to spoil the mood by sending our food back. read more

Food during visit wasn't bad. Everything else during our visit needed improvement. With our initial table we discovered ants and let our waitress know. She then went to notify the manager. When she returned she offered to swap our table. There was never an apology for the pests or inconvenience of having to move and management never made an effort to address our table after this. They then sat another group at our same table with the ants. After the move we didn't see the waitress again until she brought the check. I had to wait the entire meal for my drink that was ordered before the table swap. And then when it came I had to finish it quickly as everyone was done and our meal was paid for. During our meal a table next to us broke a glass as they were leaving. several staff entered the area in the 20 minutes between then and when we left, the only effort to clean the glass and liquid on the ground was to place a floor is wet sign resulting in not only a danger of falling but also possibly getting cut on glass. Over all it was very apparent that they were severely understaffed for a holiday that is known for going out to eat (Mother's Day), and management wasn't making any apparent efforts to help staff or customers. read more
