Although there's self service, food will still be brought to your table. Just tell them your name when paying and some minutes later, the waitress is calling for you in order to bring the delicious grilled sandwich she has just made to your table. Ein Café voller Sarah und Dennis. "Wer ist das? Sarah und Dennis?" Tja, das sind wir. Schon lange ein Paar und das ganz dicke. So dicke, dass wir entschieden, 24 Stunden am Tag zusammen zu verbringen und zusammen arbeiten zu wollen. In unserem eigenen veganen Café. Es ist zu 100% so geworden, wie wir es uns wünschten; quasi so, wie wir uns ein schönes Café vorstellen. Mit alten Möbeln und alter Deko, wie etwa einem alten Piano, ollen Radios und uralten Familienfotos in schwarz/weiß. Mit gemütlichen Sesseln und Couchen, einem schönen Holzboden, Stuck an der Decke und so weiter. Es war klar, dass wir Platten auflegen und nicht einfach nur MP3s abspielen. Wir kochen und backen alles selbst, schenken leckeren, guten und fairen Kaffee aus, von einer lokalen Duisburger Rösterei. Wir verwenden so viele Bio-Produkte wie möglich. Nicht nur Bio-Obst und Gemüse sondern auch Backzutaten, Sojamilch, Kräuter, Mehl etc. Wir haben unsere Rezepte selbst entwickelt (also Sarah hauptsächlich), backen Brot und Burgerbrötchen selbst, haben alle Saucen erarbeitet und lange verfeinert, bis alles wie aus der Krümelküche schmeckte. Und da hört es nicht auf: jeden Tag erdenken wir uns neue Leckereien für unsere Kuchenvitrine oder für die Wochenkarte.

Oh my....I believe I just fell in love!…read more I stumbled across this jewel of a coffee shop early one morning and decided to make this my new haven during my stay here in Mülheim. This place caught my eye immediately and I simply HAD to enter - once I did, I was blown away by the interieur. It's situated in a small side street just off the Schloßstraße, with plenty of seats outside - it doesn't look like too much from the outside (apart from just cute), but have a look inside!!! This must seriously be the coziest spot in this entire town! The atmosphere is truly great, very friendly and homely, the staff is absolutely nice and attentive. It might take a little longer because there's usually just one or two people behind the counter, juggling all the coffee-making and food preparation while taking new orders at the same time, but it's definitely worth the wait! The coffee is good - as in, really good! Apart from that, there is a huge selection of drinks, some also come with a certain 'kick' (as in alcohol, duh!). The food is scrumptious and quite exceptional, it's all homemade, and I am sure I saw some vegetarian/vegan choices as well. I tried one of the homemade cookies (chocolate-coconut) and it was without a doubt the best cookie I have tried in years!!! There's a variety of breakfast dishes to chose from as well. This is one of the places, where I am absolutely certain that my words cannot even come close to describing the "amazingness" of the location - so you'll just have to take my word for it: if you ever end up in Mülheim, try this café!
