While the staff are pleasant and friendly, the general level of service at this bank definitely leaves something to be desired. For one thing, despite all the grandiose fuss about our supposedly being "private clients," the banker assigned to our account repeatedly failed, over a period of several months, to respond to urgent emails and telephone messages. When I complained about this during a recent onsite visit (see below), a staff member shrugged and said, "Well, we've been very busy." Now, my mother is 95, and a longtime customer with a substantial account. Not long ago, the two of us came to the branch to complete a transaction. They made us wait for over an hour. I do not think it is unreasonable to give elderly people some priority, just as they should receive on a bus or train. I strongly doubt that any of the younger customers would have objected. Finally, the online banking is rather slipshod. Transactions are sometimes canceled for no clear reason, and neither the telephone hotline nor the website provides much help--often you end up in a dead-end. They tell you that it simply locked out and that they cannot do anything further. Frankly, this bank can be a real pain in the ass to deal with. read more

I even emailed him with a request that I received from Chase via email, and he called me shortly after to tell me he took care of it and nothing was needed from my end. Chase is trash. I've heard many people give good anecdotes on Chase but that has not been my experience at all. I have so many issues with them, some small and minor, as well as some larger issues I know a lot of people think Wells Fargo is dinky, but if so, then Chase is even dinkier lol. My Chase app told me to go in person and talk to someone in a branch but when I went to this branch, no one helped me. I came in on a Monday and was told to set up an appointment with a banker for Wednesday. And once he collected my info, he said actually no one would be available to help me until Thursday?! There was one, maybe two, bankers in the building. No customers that I could see. So why weren't they able to help me??? Also my task shouldn't have taken more than 5 minutes to do. TBH idk why Chase is even making me do it in person, it should be able to be done online, I think they just want to coerce you into signing up for their other services or something. Man maybe I should change careers and be a banker at Chase because they are straight chilling and not doing anything and are able to defer work by over 3 days lol. After denying my requests, they had some attitude as well. They will still do basic standard business but that is IT. The teller rep acknowledge then proceed to walk away and spoke with coworker clearly heard just chit chat, its now 9:09 and shewalks by says 'we will help u shortly'. I started making noise of why nobody is working to help customer. Then another rep came and help us. There was nobody else around and why we had to wait for 10 minutes. First time to this branch since high school (10+ yrs) & I was delightfully surprised! Not sure if the chaos of the parking lot or the intense & never ceasing traffic in the area scares people away, or if it was an off night, but the place was empty. The desks where you fill out your slips was clean, well organized & fully stocked. The were 2 coffee stations & a decent amount of staff. I've been her a few times and have never had a problem -there is a large parking lot, but parking can be tricky especially now with the construction in the area (Whole Foods is currently using the parking lot in front of the bank) -the bank is large, with several advisors and tellers -deposit slips, etc are well stocked and the place is clean -there is complimentary water and coffee -I got greeted when I came in by one of the advisors who wasn't busy. she answered a few questions for me and was friendly and knowledgeable -there were several people in line for the teller, but the line moved quickly. i've never had to wait more than three minutes for a teller -the teller was super friendly, as they have been in the past -the service advisors i've dealt with were both great; knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. they were very good with following-up too. -Chris, especially, is a pleasure to work with. Asian teller with an attitude. Not friendly, not helpful. We went today to have a simple form notarized. She said "no walk-ins for notary". We then tried to make an appointment for later today but she continued saying "no walk-ins for notary". I mean we were asking for an appointment. Called the Chase nearby (Carmel Valley) and Dash was extremely helpful and nice over the phone. We said "we'll be there in 5 min!". He waited and was there ready for us within 5 min of the call. Oh, WaMu. You done messed up my whole damn day. Today seemed uneventful enough, although I definitely felt a little stressed when I realized that UCSD had put a hold on my transcripts due to an unknown library book fine from nearly two years ago. To my infinite frustration, the UCSD Billing Department informed that I had until 4:30pm to turn in a money order for the tiny fine to the Billing Office in order to lift the hold, or there were NO transcripts for this hopeful grad student. I rushed from work at 3:45 and dashed up to La Jolla. "Where would be the quickest place I can get a money order?" I thought. Foolishly, the WaMu came to mind. This WaMu has always been a helpful and nearby location, with a 24 hour ATM that always welcomed even us non-WaMu customers. But today, it was all so very different. I walked in at exactly 4:06pm, nervous and panting, only to find a line of five people. "Don't panic," I said to myself, this'll move fast. It did, to an extent. But not very fast. More like just slow enough to make a brother uncomfortable. My feet tapped nervously on the tile flooring as I stressed out. Finally, at 4:13, I walked up to the counter. A friendly teller named Alma greeted me with a wide smile and an encouraging wave. Then I asked her simply, "Can I get this money order? I'm not a WaMu customer." She looked briefly flummoxed, then said, "Let me check." She spent nearly twenty minutes phoning some corporate office in front of me before finally getting approval to authorize the damn transfer. "OF COURSE YOU CAN APPROVE MONEY ORDERS. YOU'RE A DAMN BANK!!!!" I wanted to scream, but instead just smiled that tight, polite smile of someone who knows he slowly getting screwed over by life. At 4:38, it was all done. I had my money order. Too bad the office closed eight minutes ago. I balled my fists in absolute frustration at the slow, unhelpfulness of WaMu. Alma, the teller was polite and friendly, but there is something inherently wrong with a bank that needs to take twenty minutes to check in with a corporate headquarters about money orders. And to think I chose WaMu because it was close and seemed like it would be easy and convenient--What a fool I was. Never again, WaMu. I'm not even going to use your damn ATM anymore. I've had Wells Fargo for years so it was about time I considered a bank with better benefits. The first time I went to Chase, I was helped by a younger Asian female banker. She was amazing!!! At the time, I wanted to apply for the travel credit card. She walked me through the steps and explained each card they offered in perfect detail. She was really considerate and catered to what's best for me. Unfortunately, I wasn't approved at the time but she encouraged me to keep trying. On my way to Chase today, I was hoping she would be working again. Another banker named Jimmy Lay helped me out instead and turned out to be just as great and friendly!!! He seemed to be very qualified at his job. The whole process of him getting me approved for a card probably took less than 20 minutes. Thank you!!! I was kinda interested until the guy ended the call with " Alright man, see ya later " Really Mr Banker ? That cant possibly be how you end a sales call with a potential new client. I'm no stick in the mud and I dont expect my rear end to be kissed or anything but maybe he could have said something in the neighborhood of... Parking can be tricky because of the construction that's going on. I came here on a Wednesday afternoon to talk to one of the bankers about some imporatant bank information. I walked in and everyone was busy, I didn't want to take up the tellers time to ask them about being helped so I just lulled around until one of the bankers was free to ask them about waiting to talk to someone. I didn't mind the wait but in most places there's a waiting list for you to sign up on but there wasn't one which made it a bit confusing. The banker was super nice and personable, the wait and no reassurance of being helped right away is aiight. read more

I've only been inside this Wamu once, but I didn't have to wait long. The ATM is always available, but after hours you have to swipe your card to get in. Really great customer service here! I am new to Chase Bank and choosing to go to this location was the right decision. I was immediately helped by one employee, who immediately introduced me to another employee who was better fit for helping me with the business I came to conduct. The guy who helped me was very friendly and professional. He was very clear in explaining different things and answering any questions I had for him. I only gave four stars because I felt like the little cubicles were not all that private. While I was in there, I could definitely hear the conversation happening two cubicles over. I think they might need to extend the dividers upward or something... I like that parking here is so easy and convenient. My standard stop for Chase, this bank has an ATM accessible via debit card swipe after they close. Gives you an extra sense of protection, being able to close those automatically-locking doors behind you as you deposit or withdraw money, knowing that nobody else can get in unless they also have a Chase card. The teller in the ponytail always has a really bad attitude. I thought customer service is one of the top qualities that banks look for in a teller. Today my boyfriend went to deposit some cash and the teller gave him an attitude saying "next time you come in, count the cash before so I won't have to recount."
