The ATM said the check…read moreneeded my review but the review screen showed the correct amount to I pressed "accept check". The ATM didn't respond so I pressed it again with no response. It returned my check and card so I went to the branch's other ATM at the drive thru lane. Same thing. It said my check needed my review but the review screen had the correct amount. Pressing the accept check button did nothing. The check was a check from another bank so there should be no problem processing it. Now I have to go back to the branch during business hours. The place seems huge for the number of visible customers. It has beautiful lobby. Quiet ambiance. Two servicing atm machines are visible , lounge type customer waiting area and eye catching posters.

I looked on the Citizens website for their existing customers and to get free checking you have to make at least one deposit a month or keep some ridiculously high balance at Citizens like $200,000. One deposit a month doesn't sound like a big deal but if you miss a month they sock you with a $10 fee. Since neither HSBC nor Citizens would tell HSBC customers if those fees would apply to them, I decided to close my long standing accounts. I have had accounts at this branch going back to the late 1970s. I told the teller I wanted to close my accounts and she didn't even ask why I was closing my accounts after 42 years. That's fine, banking can be impersonal but whenever I made a deposit at this branch, the teller would start looking up my recent transactions and try to sell me more services like a line of credit. But closing my accounts after 42 years didn't raise an eyebrow. Not that I would have stayed if she asked why but it seemed odd that she didn't.

I spent 5 days trying to find out if I can transfer my matured TD bank CD balance to my TD bank checking account. Every time I called, I received conflicting information whether I can do it or not or how I can do it. I even have emails from customer service indicating the conflicting information! The amount is in 6-figures and I received no courtesies or considerations. This bank is for seniors who have the time to go into a branch and waste their time with manual account management. They are not equipped digitally or technologically or even mentally to run a bank. I will be closing my account today and go back to the dark star BOA--but at least they were efficient and made online banking up to date and had their shit together. No wonder TD bank had to pay $3B last fall due to fraudulent money laundering activities that went unchecked and has a 2.3 customer Rating. Run from this bank!
