Much longer wait time than they said. Table wasn't set for the correct number in our party. Long wait time for drinks, refills and food. Food was served at different times. Didn't receive one side until our meal was over. Told them We didn't want it and they charged us anyway. Disappointing. The restaurant did contact us and gave us a gift card. I hate leaving 1 star reviews, but after many disappointing experiences it feels necessary. My family has been going to Charleston's for the last 15+ years so I am familiar with their menu and typically good service. The last year or so the service has been way under par. You will see several staff members walk past your table and none will stop to help you. And if you are lucky enough to have someone take your order, it will likely be wrong. The wait time to get your food is always 30-40 minutes plus. And the food always seems VERY underwhelming, especially for the price you're paying. For example, my husband and I both ordered the Chicken Club Salad tonight and neither of them had avocado (an ingredient listed on the menu), hardly any egg or bacon, and 1 tomato each. If this was our first negative experience, I would let it slide but it seems that this has become the norm. Very sad to see one of our favorite restaurants going downhill. read more

The pork chops were good just a tad bit tough even when I ordered it medium and not well done. The salmon pictured was raw and the manager told us that it was sushi grade salmon and that's the reason the Salmon was raw in the middle which was a lame excuse to not comp the meal. Also the potatoes were very cold and although they did bring out new ones which were good and fresh the manager made excuse after excuse and was very short with us when it came to providing exceptional customer service to us as the customer. read more

We came in @ 9:15 for a late dinner. We ordered soup & salad (the gumbo was amazing!! Shrimp, chicken, rice & sausage yum! ) hubby ordered the chicken club with a loaded baked potato. Aubrey was NOT our waitress but OMG!! She went ABOVE & BEYOND servicing us!! She asked multiple times if we were good & checked in on us for any & everything!! She was more than willing to bring us all of our forgotten items! She asked us and brought us to go boxes & brought us our check!! WOW is all I could say! I wish the tip was for her she was SO AMAZING!! She was courteous polite had EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE so much so we will DEFINITELY be back requesting Aubrey as our waitress if at all possible!! Had lunch with a group of friends. They easily accommodated our group of 10. Service was quick and they were very nice. It has to be hard having all of us on separate checks but they made it work. Charleston's has always been one of my favorite restaurants. However, tonight (November 2nd) we went there to commemorate the passing of our son a year ago. He loved Charleston's too. However, when we walked into the Charleston's on Broadway we noticed it was absolutely packed, with no apparent consideration of Covid protocol. At first, they took us to the back, and set us right next to (way too close) to a large family. We asked to be moved. They took us to a booth, which was also way too close to other booths, and no plastic barriers or anything. Since we're keeping my mother-in-law at our home as a result of the ice storm, I'm worried about Covid for her sake as well as ours. I asked our waitress, "Are you guys not doing any Covid protocol"? She answered, "Yes, unless we get crowded". What?!?! So, we left. We then called the Charleston's out West, and asked, "Are you guys practicing Covid protocol?" And their answer was, "Well, not tonight". We didn't go there either. C'mon Charleston's! You're the one restaurant that seems to always set the trend of the right way to run a restaurant. What happened? Please tell me that you care about your customers just a little more than was demonstrated tonight. This is one of our favorite date nights in town. We came by this weekend after having not visited for many months - for no particular reason. It was such a great reminder of why this has been one of our regulars for years. There is a fee to upgrade a side to one of their salads but it couldn't be a better choice if you like Cesar dressing. They make it in house and it's to die for - and great with the amazing roll. The spinach and artichoke dip is more than sharable. It comes with chips, salsa and sour cream. The first time I thought that was a little strange but now I can't imagine eating it any other way. Per usual, we got the chicken fingers and glazed carrots. They're literally the only glazed carrots I will eat. Not too sweet, with freshly ground course pepper. And while they do give you honey mustard and bbq sauce - if you ask for a side of gravy for your tenders they will bring out rich, thick and creamy gravy for no cost. Visited Charlestons on Sunday, we had the hickory burger with baked potato, salmon with baked potato and vegetable medley. My husband and I had grilled pork chops, baked potato, I had mushrooms he had corn. When I tell you the food was delicious WOW. I love the consistency of the food and service. Their cocktails are some of the best in the city. Last night my Hendricks martini was 12.50, the Manhattan was 12.50. This is yet another Hal Smith restaurant and therefore caters to the uncreative, humdrum eaters of Oklahoma. The food is always good, but never great. They take great pride in filling the plate so that the above-average prices seem worth it. An old trick whereby if you see more food, it must be a better value. It is not. You can get much better food for far less money in Edmond and Oklahoma City. Charleston's of today is a much different restaurant than what first started 20+ years ago. What once was a neighborhood eatery with a unique menu has now become yet another chain of mediocrity. When they added Fried Catfish and Chicken-fried Steak to the menu, it was the final nail in the culinary coffin. They often run out of desserts. Even the ubiquitous key lime pie can regularly be 86'd by 8pm. Not that I've ever been sincerely disappointed if this happens, but it would be nice if they could properly forecast demand. If they had to throw away a few servings at the end of the night instead of running out, they'd still make plenty of profit and, more importantly, have more happy customers filled with overly-sweet treats. And I do mean overly-sweet. Even the key lime pie is borderline cloying. The apple-walnut cobbler is more sugar than apples or walnuts. The herb mix on the prime rib is overbearing as if they are trying to mask the flavor of a bad piece of meat. Oddly, the beef is just fine and doesn't need rosemary covering the exterior. The cream gravy on the chicken fry is far too rich. To be clear, the food is good and consistant. But nothing is great or outstanding. You will never leave with a sense of wow or delight. But you will leave having eaten far too many calories and spent much more money than the average family spends on food for an entire day. read more

Mike always gets the chicken fried steak. He's very picky, so if he likes it, it must be good. Autumn eats salads here and also the burgundy mushrooms. The food and wait staff is great. Their leadership poorly administers the Yelp get in line feature. The get in line feature appears to be only used when it is not needed. But Friday Saturday Sunday it is usually unavailable. I do not understand why management would not want a for sure customer via no wait vs the customer that will show up and waiting 30-45 minutes. With the exception of neighborhood jam this is typical for Hal Smith restaurants. One of these days he will figure out that regular customers do not want to wait and will take their business elsewhere. Why does Yelp allow restaurants to use No Wait some days and not other days. I hadn't been to Charleston's for years, at least ten or more, and it will be even longer before I decide to go back. My mother voiced the desire to go eat at Charleston's for lunch. We had been out running some errands and I wanted her to enjoy the day, so we went. As I sat down and reviewed the menu, I was shocked at the prices. Having lived in San Francisco for several years, these prices were what I would expect to see at a restaurant on the wharf or on Market Street. This place, mind you, is adjacent to the railroad tracks in Edmond, OK. When I lived in CA, my salary was fitting for the local economy. To pay CA prices in Oklahoma is absurd. My mother was embarrassed to have suggested this place, thinking we could pop in and have a nice lunch. She even offered to leave when we saw the menu. We didn't and I told her to order whatever she wanted. The food was fine, nothing exceptional. Service was lackluster. What a disappointment. read more

Our family suggested this place for supper on a busy Saturday night during graduation season. They were busy, but were able to get us in pretty quickly. We had a very friendly server. I won't go into everyone's order, since I didn't try everything, but I had the chicken enchiladas and they were very good. I ate every bite, even the garnish of seasoned tomatoes that had been broiled a little when they melted the cheese (which was quite good). At the end we split a piece of their key lime pie and really loved it. The crust was a blend of pecans and graham crackers and the filling was perfect. We did appreciate the excellent service; however, at times our server got a little too friendly by interrupting our conversations and hanging around a bit too long. Nick was our server, very attentive and polite! We had the grilled barramundi (Asian Sea Bass) and the prime rib. Both were excellent. Ordered two glasses of the Paso Robles cab. Jeremy, the manager on duty came with one glass, apologizing there was only one glass remaining. Offered to substitute a more expensive Napa cab which was equally good.
