Included in the contract was everything you'd expect-- each and every term of the payback. I checked also to ensure the individual had sufficient collateral in case of default. And default he did. To make a long story short, Bill and his team turned the screws so tight on this debter that 2 days before we were to meet in court, the collateral (trust money obtained upon the death if his mother) suddenly and magically became available. In fact, he settled via his attorney on the day of his mother's funeral. I got back every cent I loaned. I learned three lessons from this experience: 1) I will never loan money to anyone ever again. If someone can't get a loan from their bank, there's probably a good reason why. 2) the promissory note was a smart move. Bill and his squad looked at it and changed a couple of things to make it completely legal. The lendee balked at signing the note. He was more than just an acquaintance at the time ;) and said, "if you love me, you won't make me sign this." My response was, "If you have every intention of paying me back, you'll sign it.". If he had continued to refuse to sign, I would have refused to help him with the loan. (3) I would hire Bill Fuhrman again to represent me in a heartbeat. I thought he and his staff were brilliant, creative and relentless in their strategies and approaches with a slimy defendant. They showed me enormous respect, gave me support, and best of all... they didn't make me feel like an idiot for loaning the money in the first place. If you want representation that doesn't pussyfoot around and keeps their claws sharp at all times... swiping the enemy deeply and when it matters most, then you wan William (Bill) Fuhrman and his team.
