Soft sourdough with lots & lots of hunks of semisweet chocolate to give it a little bit of sweetness but combined with the sourdough It was bread perfection! There were lots of other temptations ranging from tarts of all kinds like apple, chocolate & pear & apricot but we were leaving that same day & could not indulge.......same for their loaves & loaves of different breads that looked way too delicious Next time!

OK guys - please don't come after me with a pitchfork, but these were just standard tasting to me…read more I waited in a line on a weekend morning and was pretty excited to try this place because of the line and the great Google reviews. Don't be deterred by the long line, it actually moves pretty quickly because most folks have a list in hand already of what they want. I ordered: - chocolate croissant (the one with chocolate on the inside, and chocolate and almonds on the outside): was fine, just your usually chocolate croissant from a bakery. Definitely better than what you'd get from a market, but I was anticipating more buttery and flakely goodness coming through. - ham and cheese croissant (this seemed the most popular since there was only one left in the display case): they heated it up for me. Decent amount of cheese flavor coming through - love cheese in general though so that probably helped. Again, pretty good, but I wasn't blown away. - Tiramisu cup: oh boy, I was most excited to try this and was let down a bit. Not enough of that coffee flavor coming through, just tasted a hint of it in the layers. Pretty cup, but lacked that flavor. The place is still good, just wasn't blown away unfortunately.

Whenever I'm in Antwerp, I'm a regular customer at the Domestic, which I first discovered thanks to my airbnb host five years ago. Their fruit tarts are light and flavorful, a real treat with a weekend coffee (this is probably the only place where I don't feel guilty about indulging in pastries!). Their pistolets and bread are very good, too (esp. rye and wholegrain) - much better, in my opinion, than at Goossens, where everything tastes spelt. Super friendly service.

Since I was just hungry, I tried to look for a food stand and caught Waffles in the stall. They were very cheaper than other Waffle's price in Antwerpen. I decided to buy one. It was 6 Euro. The price was good, and the tastes was marvelous. Above all, it was so beautiful view that Grote Markt Square was surrounded by the monumental fountain and the magnificent buildings, Guild Houses, City Hall. The Grote Markt Square is probably best known for the beautiful houses of the Guilds which align the Square. Those buildings are relatively new. The original houses were destroyed in the fire of 1576. They rebuilt in Flemish Renaissance style, but were revamped again in the nineteenth century.

We fell in love with their challah, rye, bagels, and their pareve pastries (no milk, butter or cream) My husband (a party lover) said that they were the best pareve pastries that he ever had. We were visiting Antwerp and Kleinblatt's was our first stop when we got off the train. It was Friday morning and the bakery was fairly busy before Shabbos. Although there were lots of delicious breads from which to choose, my husband was here for the pastries. He ordered three and ate them all in the rain before we went sightseeing in the rest of the city. He devoured all of them in one sitting. Even if you don't keep kosher, it is worth visiting Kleinblatt's. There are lots of items from which to choose, all of which are tasty.
