I fell in love today…read more With a bookstore, that is. We're vacationing in Prince Edward County (in Ontario, Canada) for a few weeks and the nearest town to where we are staying is the quaint, marina town of Picton. In order to do our grocery shopping, we take the 10 minute drive into this charming town and I've been exploring Main Street's numerous shops. I happened to be running an errand at the other end of Main Street and of course, a store called "Books & Company" caught my eye. (I love bookstores!) I walked into a very welcoming and very large space that appeared to house a few different groups. It seemed like it was part 'big bookstore' (reminded me of Indigo and Chapters), part independent bookstore (think 'Book City'), part used bookstore (my favourite), then, off to the side....wait, was that a hallway to the next door coffee shop? Yes , this establishment was a blend of my two favourite types of stores. A coffee shop attached to a bookstore! And this isn't one of the big, commercial coffee shops that are partnered with a just-as-big- bookstore, it was a small town, family run coffee joint, which in my opinion, are the best kind! (['ve reviewed Miss Lily's separately) While I waited for my coffee to be made, I meandered across the small hallway that joins Miss Lily's to Books & Company. The small ramp also serves as a community pin-board for the area. I actually found out via the board that there is a Harry Potter camp in the area. (My elder boy may go!) After picking up my coffee I wandered around the book store, which was exactly what I thought it was: part new books like Indigo (with a great children's section in the back) and part old and used books (I was in that section for a while). There's even a great stationary area and community space upstairs, which happened to be hosting a local art collection that can be browsed for $3.00. I bought an old book for my measly old-book collection that I'm thinking of starting. ("Over the Ocean to Paris" by Franklin W. Dixon...I'm a bit of a Francophile) And I also picked up a blank greeting card with a photo by a local photographer of a scene from Prince Edward County, for my penpal. (You read right, I do have a penpal!) The lovely lady behind the desk was great to chat with and after I told her that it's a lovely place, she said that it was an even lovelier place to work. I made my purchase for $4.95 and walked out into the sunshine. What an amazing start to the day. If you're in Picton, ask a local where "The Bookstore" is. They'll know exactly what you're talking about.

We popped in here twice. My mom got a great super long hoodie, brand new for $35. The woman who was…read moreworking there was super nice and enjoyed my three dogs. The second time, the place was very busy, so I didn't stay as long. They have a good selection of items and a vast space, but a lot are pricy. The lure of the items being from Toronto lacks any appeal for me because that's where I live, but hey I guess it works for others because like I said, it was lively with vintage shoppers. For sure worth a visit.

Some of my favourite pieces hanging in my closet have been found in consignment and vintage shops…read more What can I say? I'm a gal who likes unique clothes and accessories, but I don't like to pay a lot of money. So it was no-brainer that during my vacation time in Prince Edward County, Ontario, I had to stop into Picton and check out the consignment store on Main Street, City Revival. Wow. The 50% rack on the outside was already welcoming. It had a cute charcoal jersey dress that I picked up right away to bring to the fitting room. After a few steps inside, I noticed a Prada bag, a Fendi clutch and what seemed like hundreds of gorgeous jewelry pieces - all that seemed to be, well, cheap! What a find! I came with three friends, (one of whom is male, and he bought the most, by the way!) , and we bought some awesome brand name pieces. My best find? A silk Coach scarf/neck tie that can be worn a few different ways. It cost $10.00, and by the way, today everything in the store was 20% off! (My total, including tax was $9.05) There's no way I could have found a deal like that in Toronto. This store, like all consignment, second-hand and vintage shops, needs a lot of time to peruse through the (probably) thousands of items that are on the dozens of racks, shelves and hooks all over the store. (But if you are a vintage shopper like I am, you already know this) They carry a variety of sizes and brands. A few luxury brands I noticed: Miu Miu, Prada, Fendi, Coach and Gucci. I also saw Michael Kors, Banana Republic, Lululemon and Michael Stars. It also had a pretty decent sized Men's department. There was certainly a lot of variety, but you'll need a good amount of time to find that needle in the haystack. As far as consignment shopping goes, it's a pretty good one. The ladies at the desk were super nice and it's mostly because of them that I will certainly come back.

What an amazing way to support local! Staff were amazing and so helpful! The store is incredibly large and there's different sections ranging from pottery to sauces, artwork to local craft drinks, jams to knit goods, and so on. If you're there, pick up some county bounty soda. Made in napanee, not too far away, and tastes absolutely spectacular! Cheers to the wonderful people running this store!!

It's a bit insane, until you put all the puzzle pieces together. I realized that Belleville is home to Shorelines Casino. When you have a casino in town, chances are that you want to entice visitors to shop in the area. I will say that I had a good experience dishing out my dough at this mall. There is ample parking. I parked fairly close to the main entrance and walked in. I was pleased that it has an Old Navy, a Shoppers Drug Mart, EB Games, two music stores (Sam and Sunrise), Eddie Bauer, and more. It doesn't have the feel of an upscale mall, which I appreciate. The mix of stores is nice and I sometimes felt that I was at an outlet. As an example, I scored a pair of jeans at Old Navy for $9.99. They were of great quality and fit nicely. It has a huge food court with eateries that you would expect, such as A&W, Bourbon St. Grill, Mr. Sub, and more. What threw me off was Toro. It had Japanese characters in its sign. I thought it was teriyaki or sushi. Nope, it was an Italian place. Huh? If you are looking for a restaurant to have lunch or dinner at, East Side Mario's is here. It looked busy when I left this mall. I wanted to get a late lunch somewhere else that wasn't a chain. Although the directory has Chapters, GAP Factory Store, LCBO, and more, they are actually not connected to the rest of the mall when you are inside it, walking around. You have to duck outside to shop at these various places. It's a weird setup. My lunch was really an intermission. I then drove back and had round two of shopping until I dropped. The GAP Factory Store is fabulous. For a while, I have been looking for button-fly jeans. I never had them when the trend was there in my high school years. I scored a pair of them that was heavily discounted. Next to the GAP is LCBO. I ended up getting a vodka soda and an orange creamsi-ale that were nicely chilled for my consumption. You can easily walk the entire mall in a day. I loved being there on a holiday Sunday. I rarely stroll an entire mall these days, as I typically end up broke and sad. However, I still had money after this excursion and was a happy tourist. It's a decent mall. (339)

I was surprised at the size of this mall - it was much bigger than anticipated! The only odd thing…read morein my opinion is that you have to access the Chapters (and thereby the Starbucks) from outside the mall. We had wandered in and wandered around looking for it. I think there were some other shops also only accessible from outside. Like so many modern malls, this one has its fair share of cell phone providers in kiosks down the centre aisles. You've got your work cut out for you, doing your research on these! The big draw to this mall is the big Sears store, but there were all kinds of others to choose from: Ladies' fashions (Danier, Ardene, le Chateau, etc) and shoe stores like Payless Shoes, and SoftMoc. What a great mall!! A refreshing change from the malls at home.
