I would not wish for anyone's loved one to end up in this facility. My father is here only because…read morehe currently has no other options, and I am doing everything I can to move him to a safer, more compassionate environment. When I visit, the conditions are heartbreaking. The building has an ongoing odor, and yesterday during my visit a woman across the hall cried out for help for nearly an hour without anyone responding. It was painful to witness, and even more painful to think of the patients who have no family there to advocate for them. The food served is unappetizing, so our family tries to bring in outside meals to make sure my dad has something nourishing. I also worry about the quality of care: the staff often seem disengaged, more like people passing time at a job than trained caregivers. My father has begun developing bedsores, and their "solution" was simply to add an extra pillow, with no proper wound care or preventative measures. What is most upsetting is that immediately after his leg amputation -- a major surgery -- his long-term pain medication was cut in half, despite his history of being on it for over a decade. I have learned that some families have been able to advocate for their loved ones' medications to be adjusted, but that has not been my experience. From what I can tell, there may only be one RN on staff, with the rest of the team focused on sticking to a schedule rather than truly caring for the residents. I rarely see staff respond promptly to patients' needs, and they spend much of their time at the desks. This is not quality long-term or palliative care. It feels more like a place where people are left to decline rather than be supported with dignity. Please, if you have a choice, do not place your loved one here.

I am finding out today that they neither gave me ANY of my relevant information like "home care" and with me being terminally ill that is a big one and MY insurance paid for the medicine I came in with but they flat out refused to give it to me due to leaving AMA. Now here's the kicker. We had JUST put in the request for extended stay after the 30 days covered by my insurance. The facility was going to make me leave on the 29th anyway. I left on the 23rd and then they are acting like my health is detrimental but they were going to boot me in a matter of days

I am upgrading my rating because I believe he will be making communication a priority for future patients and their families to help circumvent any issues that may arise in their care, sooner than later. I had already made arrangements for my mother to leave the facility and commend him for reaching out at all. It says something about his character. And no, he did not ask me to write an amended review.

It mushroomed from one staff member diagnosed with COVID-19 approximately 5 weeks ago to 39 residents, 29 staff members and three residents' deaths by the time I left August 12, 2020. Two of the rooms that I was in during the last few weeks of my stay had serious insect infestations, including cockroaches. Management was informed, but demonstrated an inability to implement even basic control measures to eliminate the infestations. Fnding an insect in your water glass is less serious than contracting COVID-19. However, it reflects ayuu cavalier attitude regards basic hygiene standards. That will, quite predictably, cause a repeat of this mini epidemic this coming flu season. It's definitely not a place to trust with the care of your loved ones.

A lot of the staff are less than friendly, and a bit impatient with him, even thpugh he was quiet and calm, compaired to many of the other residents. Food quality was horrible, as family would come eat with him. A lot was inedible. Uneaten food, including fruit, would be heated again in microwave, or pureed in a blender to a mush, even though he had a good appetite and was self-feeding. Complaints met with rudeness or indifference. Considering how expensive they are, we expected better. Building and rooms were beautiful. Activities guy was very good with residents, and tried to get everyone involved in activities. My mother said she rather end it, then be put there. Awful place.

The activity director is totally involved and dedicated in making each day exciting, stimulating, enjoyable and fun for the residents. I feel blessed to have my husband so well cared for and kept watched over by professional kind care takers. Linda Muzinich12/7/24
