Wow. Just wow. Was…read morewandering around Chester with some friends one afternoon. I'm from California & live in Toronto, Canada - you can tell Californians because when we live other places we whine about not getting a good burrito. Yes, but I'm in Chester - I wasn't expecting anything or trying to emulate 'home' - we were just walking by & a bit hungry so we popped in thinking it'd be kitschy & cool. Wow. Srsly. The food is a mixture of cuban, spanish, mexican, brazilian, etc. I had a burrito. I would actually rate the burrito a bit better than most of what passes in Toronto. The service was awesome, even tho I hadnn't quite tuned my 'English' ears yet (was needing translation). However the margarita was world-freakin-class. I was expecting some sort of margarita mix/tequila mixture, but it honestly tasted like fresh lime and tequila - like an authentic margarita. It - was- awesome. I doubt I'll have many chances to visit Chester again, but if I do, I'm totally hunting down this place. For expats who might be in the area: check this out for your burrito fix! Wait, now I want to visit Chester again soon and get all around their menu. nom nom nom

There are also non-alcoholic cocktails like Raspberry Ripple too, I plumped for an interestingly titled cocktail called 'Dave'. They all come in fancy glasses so you can do your best Del-Boy impression with the parasols and cherries! They are not cheap though at £5+ for some, so perhaps a place to visit for one round only. There is also a dance-floor in the centre of a good size, which I'm sure was packed later in the evening. Fiesta Havana also does food too, but although we enquired the wait time was too long, by virtue of its popularity. The dishes that came past us looked tasty and were predominantly tapas.

They explained their offers, a 2 course set menu with a drink for £17 or 3 course £20, in addition to an all day happy hour celebrating their 25th Birthday ;) Their food and cocktail menu's were extensive, with individual sections detailing vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. The food and cocktails were delicious and portions generous. Will definitely be returning to this fab little find! :)

We almost didn't find Las Iguanas but I'm glad we did because it was perfect. It's a good idea to get there before 7.30 as that is when their Happy Hour 2-for-1 cocktails offer ends. We both enjoyed a Bellini which the barman kindly lit up with candles (it was my birthday after all). My wife liked the idea of some guacamole so we shared that for starters. The waitress, Sophie, was very attentive, so when we moved onto the main course and my wife realised she didn't like burritos, Sophie didn't hesitate to change it for something else. In the end we both enjoyed the Bahia Moqueca, a light tasting Brazilian curry. The real treat that made me a fan however, wasn't the Latin music, fabulous decor or friendly staff but the Churros we had for dessert. I would return again for these alone. These doughnut like fingers taste amazing with the creamy De Leche dip or the dark chocolate. A dream come true. A Latin restaurant nearby that we'll both return to.

On my first visit to Milton Keynes, I was happy to discover a whole bunch of restaurants right…read morebehind my hotel. There were at least a dozen decent looking places. We looked at a few menus and settled on Las Iguanas with their Latin American offerings. The interior was nicely decorated with lots of bright colours and hanging strings of lights to give it a kinda outdoorsy patio look. They do have a very nice patio also but it was too cool to sit out there. I ordered half a rack of Havana Club & Jerk BBQ Glazed Pork Ribs (Fall off the bone individual pork ribs covered in a sticky rum glaze, topped with crispy onion & chilli) from their lunch menu, served with sweet potato fries and coleslaw. It was very good, just the right tenderness to release off the bone easily. Tasty. My three companions opted for a variety of appetizers, including chicken wings, quesadillas, and nachos. It was like tapas style. It was all very good. Their drink menu features Two-for-One cocktails all day so I tried the Rum Runner (Havana Club 3 Yr Rum, blackberry, banana, lime, pineapple, grenadine). It was good! Nobody else wanted a drink so I had them both. No problem! For dessert, we had the Creamy Caramel Cake, Coconut Ice Cream, and the Banana Empanada. Again, these did not disappoint. They were all very good. Good food and good service - that's what makes you come back. So we did. A week later, we made an unplanned trip to Milton Keynes, directly from Paris, to spend a few hours with a dear friend. We all agreed that we had to come back here for lunch. Again, we were not disappointed. This time, a friend and I ordered the Dominican Goat Curry (A spicy Dominican-style goat & scotch bonnet chilli curry with spring onion rice, fried plantain & pink pickled onions). It was very good but I have to say, it was one of the spiciest dishes I've ever had from a restaurant! HOT!!! Another friend had the ribs that I ordered the last time and our fourth diner went the appetizer/tapas route with wings and quesadillas. Despite all the choices within a few steps away, it was an easy decision to come back here. Again, tasty food and good service wins!

Can't beat the best drinks and 2 for 1 happy hour all day!…read more Super fun location and an Awesome DJ
