After looking around in the store, I was asked by a nice young lady if I would like to taste some of the wines that are available. I told no thank you as it a little after 10 in the morning, but I asked about shipping costs, 140 euros for a case. I was also told that I'm from the United States, 20% would be deducted from the cost of each bottle because of VAT is built into the cost of the wine. Thank very much for help, I'll be back later. Two days later my wife and I went back, well after looking around the shop as there was one couple being helped by perhaps the shop keeper, we where the only other customers there with another shop keeper who appeared to be doing nothing in particular. After being ignored for quite some time this other person came over and with some attitude wanted to know if, "we wanted help", my wife politely replied that yes we would like to taste some wine. A curt sharp response from this woman was, "only if you BUY some wine". We did go into this establishment to taste and buy, however with the attitude we were confronted with we looked at each other and said no thank you and walked out. A big part of any business is public relations and consistency. Unfortunately this one person just put a large negative for this establishment.

He is one of the most knowledgeable, friendly and amazing people we met in France. The store has an incredible selection of rare special Bordeaux wines in the back of the store and the prices are good. Summer and I were the first Americans to have a special late night tasting and several of the locals basically adopted us into their family. (It did help that we openly shared some very nice bottles that we bought. Julian threw in some VERY special tasting treats. We loved our time in Blaye and we actually miss the people we met and the evening we spent at the Cave. It was probably the best evening Summer and I had in 2015. Very nice location. Apparently the wine selection is pretty…read moregood But The wine i was recommended was rather insipid. I went there for lunch (maybe it's better in the evening) - 4 of us including a child. Out of 4, only the burger looked nice - i had mussels, they were disappointed, so were the chips. The child's burger was dry. Service was courteous but quite slow for a lunch service, especially lunch with a young child. I was looking forward to it, but overall disappointing.
