I started with their sales person who was fine. The wife owner was rude, cutting me off mid sentence as if her time was more important than mine and what I had to say about the circumstances of the move. Coudn't get to that. She is "too busy" for a customer service bedside manner. I found sales nice, the owner overall extremely rude cutting me off mid sentence not caring about who I was or to get to know me at all. CertaPro was contracted to stain and seal seven of our windows in July. The first day they were on-site one of our windows was dented by a worker dropping a stain can on it. We had to argue with them that the dent was not pre-existing as the windows were newly installed and had to put their can in the dent to prove it had come from them. Their project manager came out to the site to assess the damage and failed to check the quality of their work while he was out. We then discovered one of the workers had put their boxes down on our dining table without a drop cloth and paint stripped it. We had to call him out again to point out that his workers had failed to open the windows to stain and seal any of the outer frame and exposed portions. We paid ~$920 as the deposit and they have done ~$960 of damage to our items. We have not seen any of our deposit returned nor the full amount of damages refunded despite being in communication with their consultants and project manager for nearly two months. I can only assume they intend to keep the deposit and are functionally scamming customers at this point. read more

READ THE FINE PRINT!!! These guys do not warranty horizontal surfaces, so when the paint job on my deck and top edge of my fence completely fell apart after only 1.5 years, they left me high and dry. Other painters have now confirmed that Serta is negligent at not sanding first, and that they did not even use primer on the horizontal surfaces! They offered to do the job again, but for an $800 fee. This company is not customer focused, and will get away with whatever they can. read more

We had a small job and we had a couple of no-shows, unreturned calls and we thought we were going to have a hard time finding a painting company that would agree to paint. Here comes CertaPro and Ryan, our contact, and they agreed and the painters, Juan and Juan, did the job quickly and nicely. Ryan was always in communication with us about when we could expect the job to be done and completed. We are going to have CertaPro come back for another painting project. Update. I had to sue them because they absolutely refused to fix the problem. The customer service was unacceptably horrible and unconcerned. But I won most of my money back. The owner/Rep who attended in court on behalf of the company, had no leg to stand on. Judge wanted to know whether it was acceptable in the first place to leave the property like that. He seemed pretty disgusted. Luckily I'm an attorney and it only cost one $90 to sue. Feel sorry for others with no recourse. read more

They painted my house a few years ago and what a bad choice I made. The quality of their work is really horrible. They don't go the extra mile to ensure good work. They are very messy leaving paint drips on our deck and on our yard. They trampled our bushes. They left their garbage laying wherever. They had to remove our gutters and they did not replace them correctly, did not even attach them back. Also very hard to communicate with the office. They were always right and not us. Worked with Jake and Christine to have my master bedroom and bathroom suite painted. The two gentleman that came over were respectful, laid down tarps and towels down to ensure they didn't get any snow in my condo. Quality is phenomenal and I had them do a different color for an accent wall and the corners look really good. They were quick and done that same morning! This is a horrible rude company. They claim to warranty, "respect your property" by "doing things right the first time". But they do a sloppy job, demand payment and then leave. It's all talk to get your business and the warranty is useless and as they do not stand by it. In fact, when you ask them to honor their promise and warranty, they become disrespectful and rude while complaining about how long it has been. That is even though you are still within the warranty period. Would NEVER do business with this company again. read more

Similar to almost every other real review of Cetrapro, our experience was not good. They sold us a service but did not deliver on it. Why? Simply because it was in emails we exchanged with the deceitful salesperson but wasn't documented in the multi-page contract. Save yourself many headaches and hire a local company (not a franchise) who care about their reputation and the jobs they perform. We were informed it is a painted surface and therefore will never look good. Their warranty is just words to give you confidence to sign their bid. They do not have a warranty program because they do not honor it nor respond to questions or concerns. On top of it all, the family who owns and runs the franchise is very rude. Do your research and you'll find that Certapro has hired an image management company to make them appear as if no customer has ever had a negative experience. The painters they subcontract out will even tell you they could make 2-3 times more if they had been hired themselves. Will keep that in mind for next time as we will have to spend thousands of dollars again to have everything they touched redone. read more

We contracted with Jake Schwartz, a CertaPro Painter franchise owner in St. Paul to compete a paint job for our 2 studios. While we are generally ok with the job completed in studio B, the completed job in studio A is not to our expectations as it is incomplete, has uneven coverage, and does not fully cover the previous wall color. Additionally, the painting crew left a considerable mess in the studios as the floor and several items were full of black paint overspray. The day after job completion, our supervisor called to express disappointment with the completed job. Arrangements were made at that time for Jake to come onsite for a job inspection, but he called instead. Very unfortunate as our supervisor had changed his schedule to meet Jake's requested time frame for the onsite meeting. Our supervisor told him the two issues we had with the job were an 'underwhelming' paint job and a mess left afterword by the crew. He elaborated that the job was generally ok in one studio but was underwhelming, not good, with insufficient coverage in the other studio. The take away from the conversation was CertaPro was interested in their own needs. Our supervisor was told they had put on 42 gallons of paint, probably applied more than 2 coats on the walls, and that's all they were going to do, paint-wise. Regarding the coats applied, Jake stated he knew for a fact that two coats were applied and that if we wanted more, we'd have to pay for a third coat, per the contract. Perhaps the most upsetting to our company is we were told that we had paid not for a good paint job, but to have two coats of paint put on the walls. Not all was negative, Jake said that the crew leaving a mess was unfortunate and we could talk about having them come back to clean up. Good thought, but we're not as much interested in a crew to clean to our satisfaction, as a crew to paint to our satisfaction. If fulfilling the actual letter of a contract, one that states two coats, and not satisfying a customer is most important to you, then we definitely hired the wrong company. If customer satisfaction is what CertaPro is committed to, then a paint job with us is awaiting completion. Your contract also states specifically that you "....are a referral based business. During our relationship, we expect to earn your trust and endorsement by providing you with a 5 out of 5 experience." A 5 out of 5 experience was not provided either by the paint job results or by the post job discussion with the local franchisee. An initial email from the franchisee states, among other things "....That we will leave your property in excellent condition....our work is guaranteed. I stand behind it and so does North America's largest and most referred painting company." Our property was not left in excellent condition, either by the quality of the paint work or by the quality of your cleanliness. I'm not quite sure what work is guranteed or what you're standing behind, most certainly it can't be the quality of your work. We understand independent companies needing to make a profit, but companies that are profitable are ones that put the needs of the customer ahead of the profit needs of the company. read more
