Brazil is the 2nd country with highest number of stadiums. Only 28 stadiums less than the US.
Pacaembu Stadium has had many name changes it's hard to keep up. It's an art deco style stadium that was built in 1938 and opened in 1940. It can seat 40,199 futebol fans.
Who plays here? Big 4 football clubs of São Paulo: Corinthians, Palmeiras and São Paulo...and Santos (not from São Paulo). Corinthians (working class) and Palmeiras (Italian immigrants) have the oldest, biggest and most intense rivalry in Brazilian futebol.
The World Cup held a few matches at Pacaembu in 1950. The stadium has also housed concerts from performers like Sir Paul McCartney, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rolling Stones, and Pearl Jam.
You can get a tour of the stadium. It is currently being renovated but is still open. I've visited multiple futbol stadiums around the world. This is one of the smallest and older looking stadiums I've been to.
