It is an impressive campus with a diverse community of students and faculty. Our campus guide was a sophomore, she was an adequate enough guide. We were able to see the Terps baseball team practicing and getting ready for next season. This is a Division 1 (D1) school, the top echelon of school sports. The football stadium ranks up there with a few NFL stadiums. The stadium seats 46,185 and if you're into college football you know that doesn't include standing room. As we traveled from building to building there were so many students encounters going about their daily routines, students in classes, students studying in lounge areas students lifting weights, students working out and students just relaxing in the lawn. Once again I was impressed with the 8 libraries on campus. The school is in the process a building new dorm buildings and the few they have already finished look very impressive. Now the older ones not so much. A lot of the older ones had window ac's and again a lot didn't. This tour was very informative and my grandson was impressed however he's still weighing his options. He had already toured 2 other universities. Also the ride from NY to College park Md. is 4 1/2 hours so not too bad of a drive.

At the University of Maryland College Park, we made a lot of memories that we will cherish forever…read more There is a lot of roud work all the time, but the campec is clean and nice.

I hate this school. There is nothing good about this place. I do EVERYTHING early…read more * I submitted documents for the spring semester in November (the first week) and somehow couldn't attend until the third section started for spring. * I submitted new documents in May for the fall semester and was forced to drop all classes because none of the documents were processed in a timely manner. * I submitted financial aid documents a month before the spring semester began and I'm in week 10 of a 15 week program and still have yet to receive my financial aid. They even sent me an incorrect response saying I didn't qualify. Then they retracted it after I pointed out they were wrong saying an assistant director would fix it no later than end of day last Thursday. It's Monday - still not fixed. The people who work here are incompetent and complacent. Give it a try. Call ANY office and ask a question then write down the answer. Call back and ask a different person the exact question and you'll get a different answer. Now try it 15x and imagine being in a horrible situation where they are making it worse - the answers are NEVER the same. How this institution was able to be accredited is beyond me. This is literally the WORST school I've ever attended. They don't care if they negatively impact your life and they don't care about the student or their experience. This is only a fraction of my experience and I'm to the point where I'm about to start reporting them so their accreditation is challenged. I'm sick of it. Save yourself the heartache and find a quality school with qualified personnel.

I work a full time job. My first 100 level course in an area I already know much about through prior work experience and self-study had at least half the weeks requiring 20 to 25 hours a week for 8 weeks. That's three or more hours every day of the week. My second 100-level class has required me to do 23 to 30 hours a week. Estimated effort for the week is usually half of what you actually need to do if you want an A and do 100% of assigned work. UMGC officials give ridiculous responses when confronted with the truth of real hours. "The syllabus was available a week before." So what? Without doing the assignments which you can't access until class starts, you have no way of knowing how many hours. Also, your provided estimates of effort are no way near real effort needed. Someone just dreamt these estimates up. They aren't held accountable for misrepresenting effort. I'm no novice in this discipline and it's a heavy load for me. Can't imagine what these classes do to a real newbie. Or if 100 level class can take 30 hours for one week, what will a 200 or 300 level class take? Stay away from this torture chamber.
