Vitré is an unbelievable charming town. The historic/old town center is full with historic buildings and amazing architecture.
Of course the big Chateau is what draws most people to this town. And it is impressive.
But be sure to check out the Eglise Notre-Dame, the Rue d'en Bas, the Rue de la Poterie and the less walked lanes of Rue de la Baudrairie and Rue St. Louis.
The Place de Gare is worth a look as well, interesting fountain here. And then the crooked buildings on the Place Saint-Yves.
There's a lot to see. Or just have fun getting lost inside the old town and wander a bit around. It's a really charming old town and definitely worth a trip.
