This art museum is dedicated to an artist work of the painter Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec who was born in Albi. Many of the art works are the last painting of Henri. The artist mother donated the remaining work of Henri to the museum at 1922. This huge collection is now on display here. They include the last painting of the examination of the doctors. Henri did sketch himself in his drawings. It is interesting to see many rue de moulin painting collection. The art symbolizes the Moulin Rouge in that time. He also has some art work on circus, society, medicine, and more. Many show posters of the show have been done by him are in display. My wife and I engaged Steve for a two day private tour of cave art at Lascaux, Le Thot, Cap Blanc, Font-de-Gaume, Las Combarelles and the National Museum of Prehistory in Les Eyzies. We were forewarned that we would return after a day with Steve completely exhausted. And we did. Each day, with Steve as our guide and mentor, we learned about he paintings, engravings and sculptures of the "Cromagnons" often times only inches away from the art they created. We climbed, crouched and twisted our way into cave recesses to see ancient paintings of bison, aurochs, mammoth,and raindeer, quickly understanding that these were made by highly competent artists. Steve not only explained the art and its merits but also set for us the geologic and archeological background which spawned the people who created these masterpieces. Steve was generous with his knowledge, generous with his time and, over lunch or while driving us from one site to another would also patiently explain customs, courtesies and modern French lifestyle in the Dordogne. To compensate, I was offered entry to the temporary exhibit: Toulouse Renaissance. They have this very lovely outside area in the middle of the museum and I spent lots of time in the sun surrounded by flowers and people. It's bigger than Fondation Bemberg but also newer. So it's completely different styles. I'd say if you have children, take them here or the national museum. The visit took me about 1 hour and a half.

There are two floors, the top looking more like an actual museum (empty rooms with paintings). There's also a little passage outside that leads you to the second floor but you can enjoy the view before you move on. I don't remember how much it cost me but it was quite cheap for a student, and even if the museum is small it's worth taking an hour or two to appreciate how unique it is.
