Horrible experience, a waste of time and money. They told me at the front desk on day one that they would send me a "good faith estimate" within 2 days after a procedure is scheduled. I waited 2 weeks. And then the estimate they gave me on the phone (of course, never in writing) when I called didn't include half of the services needed, "the anesthesiology bill is extra and not included in this estimate". And also, to my surprise. this was not even a "good faith estimate" like I asked. It' was "just an estimate" instead. I didn't fall for it. I am not taking the risk of paying thousands because the owner's nephew is not in network that day. In my case, the lies started when I opened the door. Their new slogan "it's just an estimate" may be catchy, but good marketing can only go so far. Welcome to the United Airlines of gastro. read more

We have been patients of Dr. Chang and absolutely have the utmost respect for her and confidence in her. However it is impossible to talk to anyone on the phone. We have moved to Waco and I have left 3 messages trying to get our medical records and have yet to receive a call back. I guess I am going to have to drive from Waco and show up at their office to talk to someone. It is so frustrating. The Office experience is a zero on a scale of 1 to 5. read more

I have had 3 colonoscopies here, one for each of the last 3 years. My colon likes to grow polyps, unfortunately. Dr. Chang has an excellent bedside manner, and you can tell that she cares about her patients. The whole operation is very efficient. I have never had to wait very long before being called back, and they get you prepped and ready for your "photography session" in no time. Having to go through this process every year is not fun, but I don't mind it so much because of the way Dr. Chang's team does things. They make it as pleasant as it can be. read more

Overall: Highest professionalism from a busy clinic that runs like clockwork performing a procedure nobody looks forward to. Office staff: ultra-efficient and professional schedulers, receptionists, HIPAA/insurance clerk. During a one-minute phone call, the scheduler kindly customized and resent via email copies of the postal mailed paperwork I had lost. Medical staff: outstanding, no-nonsense yet compassionate bedside manner from the nurse-anesthetist (adept at IV insertion) and nurse during pre-op. Each nurse and Dr. Chang checked my bracelet to ensure identity. Compassionate care, despite the necessity of sticking to a strict schedule of procedures. Dr. Chang is excellent. The internal photos were interesting. Being introduced to the surgical staff just ahead of the procedure was another nice, but unexpected, touch. read more

I would not see Dr Charles Moore. I saw him for 10 years and he didn't help me. Mayo Clinic did find things he hadn't even tested me for. He neglected to scope my small bowel and the Crohn's disease there eventually eroded into a blood vessel causing me to almost die from blood loss. Steer clear of him. Also, the office policy is to not allow you to change doctors within the practice. I tried. They do have a nice set up for procedures and the staff that handles that area are very good at their jobs. I have no issue with the staff here really but the practice is so inefficient. They ask you to come in 15 minutes early but you won't even go into a patient room until at least 30 minutes after your scheduled appointment time. When I first started seeing them I figured it must have just been a really good doctors office, since so many people wanted to see them. Turns out they just spend most of their appointment in the waiting room. Really annoying, Dr Sultz is great but definitely not worth an hour wait just to see him for maybe 3 minutes. read more

My husband and I both have had colonoscopies here and were happy with the service in the past. However, it's time for my husband to have another colonoscopy. I have called 2 days in a row and they've told me they are too busy to schedule an appointment but that a scheduler would call me back. The receptionist assured me the scheduler would call me back today before end of business. However, NO CALL again. Two days in a row. We're going to look into getting our medical services somewhere else because they apparently don't care enough to even return my call. Very disappointed. read more

No complaints, except a minor one.Went here for my second colonoscopy (first done at Scott and White). Walked in and the staff were friendly and kind. I saw probably 4 people before the doctor and all were reassuring and compassionate. The sedative was handled expertly, though I wish I would have been informed of the seriously horrible burning pain the stuff causes to your hand when it goes in. But it was only about a minute, so no biggie. I was out like a light and have zero memory of the procedure...that's what you want. The doctor was detailed and informative, and had great bedside manner (Derbes). Being discharged was handled efficiently and professionally. Billing and insurance questions were answered in detail. Its a little weird being around other patients going through this...so know that Fridays are their super-busy days for this procedure. read more

Very poor treatment. The nurse seemed in a hurry for me to leave and didn't even give me accurate directions down the street to the lab for blood work. Then I had to come back a week later to a different lab for ultrasound. The Dr.'s office didn't give me an address or phone number to even contact this radiology lab either. I had to stop and look up these places on my phone for an addreess and phone number. I hate being rushed out by Drs offices without being given good, accurate information. I'm a customer here and am paying for this treatment! No thank you TX Gastro....I want better treatment and to be taken care of. The Dr. gave me no information in writing about my diagnosis or treatment options. Then while leaving I saw some copies on the nurses desk about my disease, but they said they didn't have those for their patients...WHAT!!! I'm going somewhere else, where I'm treated with respect and given the time I'm paying for. read more

Horrible accounting/billing department!!! Required to pay upfront for a visit that was covered by insurance, even though the insurance company called and said there should be no charge. Multiple follow-up calls have been made and they give the runaround, only saying it can take up to two weeks to get the money back. Called after two weeks and the girl said the initial person never even processed the refund!! It has now been well over a month and the refund still has not been received, despite the fact that the insurance already paid them weeks ago and they show a credit on the account. They expected payment immediately, but it was never rightfully theirs, yet they are still holding onto it, which is not right at all! It is not worth the time, money, and headache having to deal with them, and I would not recommend doing business with them. read more

I would not recommend Dr.Moore. I came in for a simple issue and yet he kept trying to tell me what was wrong as well as try to order every test possible. I'm a normally very healthy individual with no daily medications, and in my late 20's yet he insisted on colonoscopy and EGD and blood work. I instead got a second opinion.... That Dr. Didn't recommend any of the things that Dr. Moore did. In addition the staff here are extremely rude. The lady that took my initial phone call was extremely rude and kept sighing every time I asked a question about the providers that worked there. Upon leaving and reviewing my paperwork I received for the unnecessary tests he listed off a bunch of diagnosis codes that I did not speak about and that didn't pertain to my visit. Very dissatisfied and would definitely recommend others to steer clear of this provider and facility. read more

I was here and the receptionist are very nice but they leave their windows open and the whole waiting room can hear everything they say to the people they're talking to on the phone. I just heard one of them talking on the phone and they were reading back to the person on the phone their whole social security number. I've heard them say names in their conversations and sometimes what they're scheduling the person for. For example: Hi Mr. Smith, this is (receptionist name here) from South Texas Gastroenterology, I am calling on behalf of your doctor to schedule your colonoscopy. When would you like to get that done? " and the they'd go on and schedule a day and time, which the whole waiting room could hear. I was waiting for one of them to say something like......'One of our nurses will call you soon about instructions on how to take the meds and poop your brains out so we can have a clear view inside your colon.' I really dont think the receptionists are given a choice to close their windows. Major HIPPA violation here. Management must have no idea what they're doing. read more
