First, this is one of three Carnegie libraries here in the Springs. Carnegie was a philanthropist and one of the things he built were libraries. His foundation would allow cities to apply for grants and agree to certain requirements and made sure they would remain public. Supposedly, he was inspired by the reading rooms that women were organizing throughout the country. The collection of books are only on the main floor of the building, but this library (like with most libraries in the Springs) is part of the Pikes Peak Library District so you can order, borrow, and drop off books at any of the locations within the system. This library will celebrate 120 years this Saturday on Dec 7, 2024. They will be offering a swap out of your library card with a limited edition card if you drop in on Saturday. Never stop exploring!

It's right across from the park so I'm usually running multiple errands at once and only have to park in one spot. They do have their own parking lot as well which is super convenient especially if you're just doing a quick book drop off. I just saw that they are expanding their hours as well, and they are open till 7 PM most evenings to make it more accessible for those that work until 5 PM.

A ten minute wait, and the manager came out to tell us that the wait might be hours without this appointment. he offered an alternative, i.e., line up and tell him what our purpose is. Since mine was to drop off a Medicare form, he initialed the form and told me I could place the form into a drop-box and it would be addressed. I did so, and left. Let's see if that is true. Five stars for not spending hours.

It is a very clean city and beautiful city. I took a day trip up here from Denver. The highest mountain in Colorado, Pike's Peak, is located just outside the city and is a must see. It is amazing, if the weather allows you to go all the way up to the top. Now there is a little town called Manitou Springs that is also right outside of Colorado Springs. That has some very nice shops and restaurants to stop and visit on your way to Pikes Peak. It also has flowing springs located along the sidewalk that you can taste the water. Now, I will admit that the water is an acquired taste and had too much of a calcium taste for me, but hey, at least I gave it a shot. Other attractions in or very near the city include the National Museum of WWII Aviation and Helen Hunt Falls. I have been here a few times and have always been amazed by the cities beauty and it Red Rock formations. This should be on the top of your list to visit in Colorado.

Most of the houses in Colorado Springs have a shut off valve that turns off the water to the dishwasher and your kitchen sink. They now want a shut valve for your sink and another one for your dishwasher. This requires a plumber shut off the water to your house and install the extra valve. WHY! Who got paid off to pass this law so plumbers can make more money?

When I finally called, I was told the report had supposedly been emailed the day after I applied, but I never received it. Instead of investigating, I was told to check my spam folder--even though those emails are automatically deleted after 30 days, and the sender was already saved as a contact. When they resent the report, it came through immediately, making it hard to believe the original email was ever sent. The entire process was frustrating and inefficient. Requiring customers to wait four weeks before they can even ask about a missing report only delays resolving issues like this. It's 2026, there should be a better system for tracking requests and confirming delivery.

The tents and trailers are arranged on both sides of the sidewalks so you can meander up and down looking at what's available. It's relatively compact so we were able to walk through the first time to see what's available and then go to the specific vendors that we wanted to purchase from on a second pass after we had seen everything. The only downside is that parking is challenging on the streets surrounding the park but on the positive side the meters don't start charging until 1PM where we parked so we didn't need to pay for parking.
