We came to cento drinks and apps. My drink was sooo good and we got Burrata for the appetizer. It has a "tomato pesto" and then some fresh tomatoes. The pesto is the hit by a mile. It's so good, but the sourdough it's served with was hard as a rock and completely tore up my mouth. The complimentary bread was a focaccia with a tomato type topping, by far the best bite and then a spicy garlic garlic bread which was also good. I don't know if I'm singled out here, but I don't feel like this place justified the cost. I don't mind spending a pretty dollar for something nice and delicious, but I just feel like if all the other restaurants of his have the same things what is making this one special? Is it that it's more expensive? Maybe I'm off base. I don't know that I would return. It's giving me the similar lack luster to Valentina's. We've been to Cento a handful of times now, and it's quickly become one of our favorite spots. The outdoor patio is such a vibe in the summer, the service is always on point, and the food keeps us coming back! Our server Zach was awesome--super personable and attentive (and congrats to him on almost 2 years at Cento!). We started with the peach + arugula salad (the toasted hazelnuts were such a nice touch), then I had the branzino and my husband had the king crab tagliatelle--both were amazing. I recently visited Cento for my parent's 10 year wedding anniversary and everything was amazing, it far exceeded all my expectations. Everything from the service to the food to the atmosphere was amazing. We sat outside and despite it being 85 degrees, the outside patio was shaded with plenty of fans to keep the area cool. Our waitress Hailey was sensational, she was knowledgeable about the menu, attentive, and friendly. Eating at Cento feels like an experience from the moment you arrive in front of the restaurant. The passage where you are surrounded by plants, just lovely. The decor inside is dark and upscale. We came on a Tuesday at 5 with no reservation, but were sat in the bar area which was just fine. The two bartenders were very friendly, professional and just great. Love the little touches, like their white jackets with the C, and the C on the block of ice in my drink. No happy hour specials yet at this Cameron Mitchell restaurant, and the prices are a bit steep, but you're paying for experience, and the food is spectacular! I love that there are SO many gluten free options, my menu was as expansive as my boyfriends. Even bread that was so garlicky and good! We ordered some cocktails to start- it's a great manhattan for sure! We ordered the whipped ricotta appetizer and it came with more, different bread. We were in carb heaven. I ordered the vodka pasta dish, gf. It was soooo good! Portion size was kinda small, but I gobbled it up. He got the chicken saltimbocca and enjoyed it. We both agree we'll definitely be back. First of all, the service is top notch. Luke our waiter was outstanding. Very knowledgeable and showed up right at the perfect times. The inside and the patio is beautiful. So very inviting. It's dark and warm yet open and lovely. The thing Cameron Mitchell always does right is the gluten free menu and he does not disappoint here. If you have celiac- you honestly cannot beat his restaurants. I'd say the food last night was a 4/5, with the exception of the artichokes which were a 5/5 I had the scallops with risotto. Replacing the former G. Michael's Bistro on 3rd Street in German Village is Cento, an homage to Cameron Mitchell and their 100th restaurant. As a local resident I've been walking past here almost daily as they've slowly transformed what was once a nice restaurant into a statement venue, and made great use of that ugly "valet parking" spot located on the property. (Yes you heard that right. The patio area here at Cento was a freaking parking lot!) After a couple months post-opening my wife and I decided to stop by and give the place a try and we came away very excited about the future but with two small concerns that knock this down from an obvious 5-star to a 4-star. Let's start with the ambiance and decor. Killer. Cameron Mitchell spared no expense. From the chandeliers to the floor tiles, they nailed "fine Italian" in a great way. It's unbelievable that this is the same restaurant that housed G. Michael's Bistro. As you enter you'll walk down a really nice covered entrance to be greeted by the hosts. As you walk down the entry way take note to the left of the patio. Again. That was a parking lot folks! But take note of the outdoor bar that's first come, first-served and if you swing by when they open at 4 maybe you can grab a seat there and catch a game or two. Onward. We were seated for dinner at a table for 4 in the bar area toward the street in the main building. It's a bit of an awkward spot and we were a little confused by the usage of the space. It just doesn't feel quite right especially if you were at the restaurant for a more formal occasion as we were and you happened to get seated there. There is a mix of booths, a single high top (I think?) that lorded over our table, snd of course the bar itself. I think the booths make a lot of sense but the tables just kind of stunk. With the number of guests and the location of the tables we sometimes found ourselves waiting just a bit too long and honestly kind of felt like an afterthought. Now, our hosts and waiters staff were great, I just think it's the layout. Other options for seating are outside of course and also what I'd consider the main and proper dining area. On to the food and the menu which is my other 5 star to 4 star reason. The food we ordered was fantastic. It's much higher in quality and presentation than any other Cameron Mitchell restaurant that I've been to. From the house garlic bread that quickly finds its way to your table, to the burrata cheese that I can't recommend enough, to the pasta dish we had, each was cooked extremely well and tasted great and we have no complaints there whatsoever. Probably some of the best Italian food I've had, though I wouldn't consider myself an expert there. The wine list is big and bold. I really enjoyed it. They have a few cocktails and single glass pours of wine but noticeably they do not have beer! At least now that I saw. There's definitely an implied understanding that you should order a bottle of wine. I do wish that was more common but it's always hard for me to stomach spending 3x retail (which is common) for a bottle. Ohio needs to legalize bringing your own bottle... I was also disappointed in the lack of apéritif drinks. No whiskey. No port. No sherry. Hmmm. Ok. Ok back to dinner and maybe my chief complaint. The menu items are good. The menu is not. People understand tapas. They understand appetizers, salad, main, desert, etc. What I and I'm guessing many others don't understand is a menu full of items (great!), a server who discusses the nightly specials, and then the implication that you order a few items from the menu (sort-of tapas style), only to be asked "and for dinner?" ????? Well I've never been to a restaurant where one of the verbal "tonight's specials" isn't a main entree. It's very confusing and we felt a little taken aback by it. No blame for the server, he was great, but the flow of the menu just doesn't make sense to me. Now this could be my lack of understanding of Italian dining. If so. That's fair! But it would be nice if after being asked if we had dined here before (no) we had a little more explanation on how the menu works. This doesn't detract from the food, just the rating. If you're curious, we ordered four total items from the menu, a bottle of wine, and had some of the bread that was brought out and we were pretty full. For sharing between two people it was great and we felt like we had the perfect amount of food. Alright so if you've made it this far. Well. I'm sorry. But! Congrats as well because I'm guessing you read this review because you are considering or already have a reservation (you should get one it's busy even on Wednesday nights) and you're trying to get hyped up before you go. Good. It's a great restaurant and it's probably deserving of being a 5-star on the review. This is a new Cameron Mitchell restaurant in German village and my first time there . My daughter and I went there to check it out . The patio was beautiful , one of the best I have seen. It was covered with plants and a huge fountain . In a separate area they have a fire place and tables. It's a cozy area. We had the artichoke hearts for an appetizer which had a very nice presentation. They were really good but I was expecting more hearts and not so much the leaves tho they were eatable and good . But for 22 00 I would of like more hearts. I had the chicken saltimbocca which was good and my daughter had the l carbonara which she really liked . We had the chocolate hazelnut torte for dessert. Very nice place! Elegantly designed with food and service to match. Came in on a Monday at 4:30, as we couldn't get a reservation. Was seated immediately at the bar, but just in time as the last bar seats were taken right behind us. We had the chicken saltimbocca and the sword fish. Both were extremely good! Nice little bread and cheese to start with, and an artichoke heart to split. Finished with a double espresso and the chocolate hazelnut torte, which was Devine. Our bartender/server was extremely friendly, but a little over the top. Took him 10 minutes to get our check after I asked as he was too busy socializing with other patrons to hit the button on the register, even though he walked past it a dozen times. Reservations required, this is one hot ticket that does NOT disappoint! Be prepared to open your wallet and you will have an amazing level of service. Can I give 10/5 stars? First off Jaime and team were ready to amaze. We started with a 4:15pm reservation because again, hard to get! Drinks are amazing, lots of variety and flavors no matter your preference. I stuck with the Manhattan. Most cocktails run $15-17 each. The bourbon selection and the "Nocino spritz" at the end were fantastic. Our table was adventurous and tried Mellon and prosciutto, artichoke, and Caesar salad made tableside. So delicious, crispy, and fresh. OH and their breadbasket is a stunner as well! Garlic toasts and a focaccia style bread with a tomato puree on top! Also a side of chunked cheese was great to nibble between drinks! We also met the wine steward, and he provided some great recommendations even bringing a wine sample to my friend who wasn't sure if the blend would sit well on her palette. He was a great one to poll for his favorite meal as well. Mains were SO hard to choose, as they do request everything on the order goes in at once (apps and entrees). We went with steak, saltimbocca, veal Parm, and a special - veal piccata. Check the menu or ask, many do not come with sides of pasta or veg. There is a pasta selection of the menu, many of which are handmade, and they can add proteins. As I mentioned I did veal piccata and added a pesto pasta as a share for the table. Beautiful fresh pesto and pine nuts on a lovely corkscrew pasta. Homemade? The veal was sooooo crisp without being burnt and had several artichoke hearts on top. I brought half home since the portion was so large. We all brought some of our meals home. By dessert, we were stuffed but picked up the limoncello tart. Beautiful tart shell, crisp lemony cream, tiny meringues. Just wonderful. Just a wonderful experience again 4:15pm reservation and we probably left by 8pm? So great, can't recommend Jaime more. Cento came into with a happy hour so you know I had to try it. It's even on Saturdays and Sundays! We came right as they opened and had no issue with a seat. Their outside bar only has 6 seats, but there were at least two spots open the whole time we were there. HH is only at the bars. We started with their bread, which is giving major carbone vibes. In fact , Cento I think IS the Carbone of cbus! The bread was amazing. I would come just for that. Their cocktails are also fun. I have the blueberry lemonade and a glass of pinot Grigio. We did the calamari and bruschetta. The calamari was so Good. The shrimp it came with was perfect and felt very fresh. I was impressed. The bruschetta was also good. We then split a Caesar salad and this was delicious! I don't know why I thought it would be table side - but it wasn't. Would be cool if it was! After we split the bill, the HH is definitely pricer than others around cbus, but Cento is more of an experience or special occasion. One of my only complaints: The hostess' were very disorganized, several parties were waiting and no one was at the desk. When you enter, the restaurant is very dark inside. They like you to order everything at once. For an appetizer we had the prosciutto and figs, and endive salad, they brought out a garlic bread and focaccia with sauce on top (just ok but it was something different) I ordered the branzino and had a few bites of the bolognese. For dessert shared the lemon raspberry tart with a cafe con ponna. Everything was good, the gnocchi in the bolognese was excellent! Best I've ever had. Service was great! As soon as I was finished with a plate it was cleared immediately and replaced with new silverware and drinks always filled. It is a little pricey but reasonable if ordering pasta. What a night to remember! I highly recommend if you are looking for an upscale Italian restaurant where modern meets traditional, this is the place. My husband and I had the most incredible date night here. First off--I'm sure this place will be beautiful all 4 seasons, but during the warmer seasons will probably be top tier ESPECIALLY in the patio. Just absolutely stunning location and decoration. The entrance is so romantic and dreamy. The patio reminds me of an Italian cafe patio or something. The inside is incredible and decadent. The attention to detail was absolutely top notch, especially the original horse ring at the bar! Service was immaculate. No one rushes you, they explain the menu in detail, and super friendly and attentive. They highly recommend to put in your entire order at the same time and they will space it out as they bring it out--HIGHLY recommend. This is the traditional Italian way. Everything is meant to be shared. Now with that said, portions are not BIG nor are they small by any means, but the design of the menu is intentional to share. It's broken up by courses, like a true Italian upscale restaurant (hence also the sharing). Make your menu choices a journey! They can even help suggest courses that'll complement each other. Here is what we ordered and it was PERFECT! While the server did their best to manage a clearly busy and chaotic night due to the German Village Holiday Lights, the meal was overshadowed by slow service, with multiple courses arriving late and some questionable seafood. We also experienced a 30-minute delay for a 5pm reservation which wouldn't have been so bad if the rest of the night went more smoothly. The meal began on a promising note with a complimentary bread basket. The soft focaccia was a delight, and the crispy, spicier bread added a unique touch. Next, came daily featured appetizer--a rolled pasta with ricotta, parmesan, and lemon in a tomato sauce. While the dish was well-balanced and flavorful (we especially loved the sauce), it arrived late, continuing the pattern of service issues. The Caesar salad that followed was a highlight for me--fresh, well-dressed, and something I would definitely order again. My main course, Rigatoni with a side of meatballs, was another win. The pasta was perfectly cooked, the sauce rich, and the meatballs flavorful. However, my friends' main course--a seafood special featuring lobster, scallops, and mussels--was a disaster. The mussels were inconsistent, with some tasting off and others outright bad, carrying a strong ammonia flavor. Some of the scallops tasted gritty and I worry the seafood should've been cleaned and inspected more thoroughly. Unfortunately, this resulted in one of my friends falling ill during and after the meal. Although our server offered to have the dish comped, my friend (who is overly nice and polite) said it was okay since the other food had no issues. Still, I believe the kitchen and manager should have proactively addressed the situation more thoroughly. On a positive note, our server was a standout amidst the chaos. Friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, they did everything possible to make the experience better. The drinks were another highlight--I especially enjoyed the espresso martini, which had a bold, rich coffee flavor that set it apart from others I've tried. While there were bright spots, the delays, the inconsistent and honestly unsafe seafood dish, and the lack of proactive management leave me hesitant to recommend Cento. With some operational improvements, the restaurant could live up to its potential, but for now, it's a mixed experience at best. read more

I've heard good things, but the experience is completely worth it. Came here for an anniversary and was absolutely not disappointed. Very attentive at first with bread, water, drink orders and meal orders; attentive to bringing food out hot. Very attentive to switching out utensils. But trying to get more water was tough. And BOTH rounds of our drinks (cocktails then wine) took an inordinate amount of time to receive. My husband was halfway through his pork chop before his wine arrived. A wonderful early Valentine's Day dinner on February 13th. Grabbed a delicious martini at the bar pre dinner, the blue cheese stuffed olives were amazing and martini was perfectly shaken. Had a lovely corner booth and atmosphere was warm and calm with nice energy. Service was great and the team was wonderful. Let me be brief: go to Cento. You will not regret it. I took a client couple to Cento (everyone's first time there), and had an exceptional experience. Our server was wonderful and looked great in his velvet coat and bow tie, and his recommendations were spot on. The food was incredible. At our server's suggestion, we ordered the whipped ricotta with a couple of meatballs on the side, and created a bite out of the toasted bread, meatball and ricotta. This is a must-try. The Caesar salad is prepared table side and is fresh, light and delicious. The special was rabbit agnolotti (a dish from Italy's Piedmont region). The rabbit was braised perfectly and the dish was seasoned well. This was a well-curated experience. We'll be back soon! read more

I had the pleasure of dining at Cento last night with a group of girlfriends. I think a good experience at a restaurant is the perfect balance of the right place, the right people, the right staff and the right food. We brought the right people and Cento brought the rest! We had a table in the corner of the patio, which is beautiful. Our service was fantastic (thank you Thomas & Raymar!) and the food could not have been better. We had a selection of appetizers and entrees. Favorites included the truffled salsify, the artichoke hearts, and all of the entrees - bolognese, risotto, filet, sea bass and chicken saltimbocca. I've seen this place slowly get built over the last ~1.5 years living in German Village and what a beautiful addition! Stopped in yesterday for dinner on a Sunday evening during the first week. Was blown away by the ambiance, food and service. I know people give CMR restaurants a hard time for being too commercial at times. This felt opposite. It was transportive, and took us to some of our favorite dining experiences in Italy and France. The outdoor courtyard/patio is idyllic, and features an outdoor bar and good amount of seating. The menu is on the pricier side - but I felt the food quality and experience warranted every bit of it. First off - they bread service is housemade focaccia and garlic bread that were both delicious. You know the food is going to be good when the complimentary bread is that thoughtful. We started with prosciutto and melon which lad layers of salty and sweet and savory. I didn't want this dish to end, and considered running it back 1-2 more times as dinner. The octopus is carpaccio style (very thin slices), but is sous vide. So many incredible flavors in this dish too. The oil and pistachio and olive... so much goodness in each bite. For our "mains", my husband and I shared the risotto, a table side caesar, and a scarpinocc (mini heavenly ravioli pillows). The risotto has a truffle oil but then features chanterelle mushrooms. The table side caesar is fresh and delicious and you can add anchovies. I don't say no to anchovies! The scarpinocc were mini ravioli filled with taleggio, but had some zest with balsamic, and I think lemon too. Only critique is that service took a while... but of course it is still the first week. We would have ordered dessert but it had already been two hours. We were relaxing and enjoy ourselves but needed to get home for something so skipped dessert this time. They looked heavenly though. 2 glasses of wine, two apps, two pastas and a caesar came out to $172. So definitely more of an occasion spot, but if it's anything like what we experienced, you will have an amazing and magical meal. John and Haley were both incredible and so kind! read more
