Everyone at the event was amazing! They were all so nice and welcoming. Also, they listened to my terrible Spanish. Pero quiero practicar. The employees and the owner of the restaurant were very accommodating. They went out of their way to help us understand everything, which was not expected. The food was excellent and so was the wine. It was a great yelp elite event and it was a unique experience for me to have in Oaxaca. Gracias!

After that we tried the spicy pasta with bacon! Really nice and just right with the spicy part. I really liked that. After that we got fresh made Mole bread (it was still warm!!) with home made garlic butter, that combination was delicious! After that we had pork with mashed sweet patatoe, it was nice but a bit to much fat for me. The drinks were really nice also, I really enjoyed the cool Mezcal cocktail, nice and refreshing with not a overwhelming mezcal taste. The lemon-cucumber water was nice and so cool we could keep the glass! It was great to see the fellow elites and have some drinks and good food on the terrace of El Olivo! It was again a great get-together organised by Yelp, Thomas Inn and Mezcal: Cortijo. I have walked…read morepassed Thomas Inn several times and always hear live mariachi music and thought it was a simple/ typical "Cantina". I was really surprised to see the modern and sophisticated restaurant/bar. When we got sent up for the private party we walked into the second floor bar and a wonderful big roof terrace. Just amazing! Looking at the open air theatre "El Fortin" and the mountains around the city. The event was really fun with the DJ Netho Selektor who always knows how to set the vibe. We got a Indio beer and enjoyed talking to the other Yelpers. We had a cocktail, a Mezcal gusano of Cortijo and some typical Oaxaquenan food. After that we had a few fun interactions where I won a wonderful "#Mezcal" hat! Great for the Feria de Mezcal! In a few words: There was a great vibe, great people, drinks and food! I will definitly come back to Thomas Inn to sit on the roof terrace and enjoy their food and drinks.

At first it was a bit hard to find because the sign isn't very big and the first two floors of the building are offices.The restaurant is located on the third floor of the building, it has several balconies which look over a huge part of the city. While sitting in the restaurant (inside or on the balcony, really romantic btw) the view is beautiful, you can see several mountains in the distance and at night it is beautiful with the moon and all the lights below. I love the design of the restaurant, it is very simple but effective and very spacious. The staff is very polite and helpful. We tasted several different plates; a lovely fresh salad with nuts, delicious fries with smoked quesillo (Oaxaquenan cheese), tuna with apple and an apple sauce, an absolutely amazing pasta with king prawns and a cheese sauce and as dessert (2 desserts!!) a shot glass with whipped cream, coconut chunks and sauce and a wonderful brownie with ice cream. For my drink I started with a fresh Mango smoothie, nice and refreshing. After that I had a Mezcalini (a cocktail with mango, lemon juice, ice and mezcal) I really liked it, the taste was very soft and fruity and you could hardly notice that it contained mezcal, so perfect, I would highly recommend it. The chef is from France and has loads of experience working all over the world, he uses all the different techniques and recipes to make an amazing menu full of delicious starters, main courses and desserts. In short: a romantic restaurant with a great view, delicious food and cocktails and with a very fair price.

It was great to see so many people putting in the effort to dress up in the typical clothing of this area. The amount of people was exactly good for this location. There were two great DJ's, Istmeñan food, two local artisan beer brands and two local Mezcal brands. It was very well organised and a lot of fun talking, dancing, eating and drinking. I had a great time!
