Big liquor store; I'm a bourbon drinker and the selection is typical of what you'd find elsewhere. Anything allocated is going to be more than secondary prices. Disappointing coming from a larger store who you know gets a good amount of allocated whiskey. It's their store so they can obviously choose their prices, but in my opinion it's shameful to ask for more than secondary. Sure a little of msrp is fine, but double or triple secondary. C'mon. Long story short: Spirit Shop is cheaper and has a larger selection of refrigerated beers. I've been shopping at the Cellar for several years now and today was probably my last day going here. My father-in-law (50), brother-in-law (24), and I (29) went in to get some beer. My brother in law forgot his ID, but he wasn't purchasing anything. My father in law and I went up to the counter with our IDs. My father in law purchased his 6-pack and I was in the process of buying mine when we were told that they also needed my brother's ID. I'm not complaining about any applicable laws that we weren't aware of. What was completely unacceptable however was the way the situation was handled and how we were treated by the woman working tonight. She was incredibly rude, unprofessional, and condescending. She said that it's illegal for my brother to touch the alcohol (when it's not, he's of age, the only thing wrong was that he didn't have his ID). Like I said, I understand that they're just doing their job and protecting their business from liability. However, this woman is going to drive business away at this rate. She obviously was on some sort of power struggle trying to establish her authority and show who's in charge). I even stayed there while she tried to stare me down and told her (and the rest of the staff there) that I understand it's a tense situation, but that's not the way to handle it. Complete lack of adequate respect and customer service, at that. Went to Spirit Shop afterwards and they have a much larger selection of refrigerated beers. If I could give zero stars, I would. Customer service was absolutely awful. My friend and I walked around looking for Zing-Zang. We found it and went straight to the counter to checkout. Once up there they asked for both our ID's my friend had left hers in the car. We were purchasing something nonalcoholic so she asked if it was necessary she go grab it the cashier was adamant she needed her ID. She went out to grab it and while she was out the cashier made me stand there and wait for her to return. While waiting for her, the cashier questioned me continuously if she truly had her ID. Once she returned (with her ID! ) they were extremely rude and laughed at us. We will not be returning. read more

So this place sold me soured wine and would not make it right. I am out $44 and will never shop there any more. The manager basically argued with me and said there wasn't anything wrong with the color or flavor after sampling it. I don't understand how the Cellar can just take my money, provide tainted wine which I had to take back to them, hear that I am wrong about the crap wine, and deny my request for a refund. Great store lots of options staff is always friendly and helpful- the store is clean

Went in NYE to pick up supplies. At the checkout counter with a 12pack shiner and a bottle of sparkling. It's my turn, I grab the shiner by 1 handle and it breaks and falls, busting some bottles. I profusely say I'm sorry, no responds from anyone. They go get cleaning stuff, again saying sorry, and again none of them saying anything to me, they just keep looking at me. So I go grab another 12pack and move to a counter with someone there, and that's when I told I will be charged for the beer that broke. Those are the only words that was said to me. I didn't even get a chance to at least grab the beer that wasn't broken and I still had to pay. So here's to a 40$ bottle of sparkling that isn't worth it. Dustin and I enjoy going here to find and satisfy all of our wine and spirits needs. They have a huge selection. It is a very large store and I encourage everyone to check it out! There is something for everyone. Prices are always more than reasonable. They have liquor and wine from almost every brand and place/country you can think of. I particularly enjoy their selection of wine and liquor from France and Italy. Each bottle reminds me of traveling and memories from Europe. It is great to find all sorts of familiar and new brands with each trip to this store. Browse the store in peace and quiet. It is always very calm and quiet inside. Guess I should have read the reviews before shopping here. I have a very nice collection of tequila and have enjoyed coming here over the past four years to find bottles I can't find at home. No more. Bought a nice bottle of tequila on Friday for my daughter's graduation from OU. When we went to open it Saturday night the cork broke as I was pulling it out and then disintegrated into the bottle, leaving floating pieces of cork in the bottle. When I came to exchange the bottle I was told no returns or exchanges. Apparently customer service is not important at Cellar Wine and Spirits in Norman. Was further told that they would let the distributor know and would take the last bottles off the shelf. That's great for them but doesn't help a customer. I can understand if I just didn't like the tequila and they said "too bad". However, with the cork being defective and making it undrinkable, though no fault of my own, good customer service would have worked with the customer to make things right. The clerk who helped was apologetic but either the manager or the owner (not sure which) refused to take care of a customer. BUYER BEWARE!! read more

Terrible customer service! Highest prices in Norman! I went in, grabbed a basket with one of my kids and her friend. We walked the entire store pushing and filling this basket. I pointed out bottles that this person I knew loved or I've tried and I didn't like etc etc. Meanwhile the kids were amazed by all the cool packages and funny names for merchandise. Liquor companies are like tobacco companies; they market to young people. Hence, pirate logos, bright color's and really cool shaped bottles. The kids and I both were touching items I had no intention of buying. Finally, we made our way to the register and I alone began to unload the basket and immediately a very tall, bald, bearded employee asked me, very rudely, for the kids I.D.'s. I responded, that I'm buying these items not the children. He informed me that they were touching things in the store that means they need I.D. I walked around that store a good 45 minutes with them knowing they couldn't sell to me. I think that's terrible consumer service. I think the policy itself is ridiculous but if they are going to have the policy they need to either not allow children in the store, or have it clearly posted where the policy can easily be assessable to the public. Lastly, if they witness your child violating this policy, at the minimum they could at least approach you and inform you that they can't sell to you. Instead of standing around waiting for you to fill a cart and try to check out, before they address it. After reading other reviews, it seems like the way they treat their customers is an ongoing issue for this store. I almost never go there because they are so over priced and now I'll never go back. I only gave them 1 star instead of Zero because this board requires a minimum of 1 star. read more

Was guided to this spot by the bartender at the Abner pub. Was so happy to find all of my favorite Oklahoma beers in full stock. Coming from New Orleans, I love seeing new stuff from my home state to take back with me. While shopping a bottle of rosè cider dropped and exploded near us. It was little more than a drizzle of foam but some got on us; NO BIG DEAL. A couple workers came to see if any got on us, we said yes but it wasn't a big deal. I recently purchased a bottle of liquor there, but when I went to open it I realized that the tamper seal was missing. With all of the reports of tainted alcohol in the news, I was concerned. I called and reported it to the store. A few days later I brought the bottle back. The manager was hostile to me, and refused to make it right. I left the bottle with them without an exchange or refund. I hate it because I always enjoyed shopping there, but if they care so little for their customers and their safety, I can make my purchases elsewhere. read more

I needed 2 30 gallon kegs the day before my wedding. First I went to a certain big liquor store in Uptown OKC off 23rd, and they informed me it would take at least 24-48 hours to get even a Bud Light keg in. I knew The Cellar would hook me up though. I called in, and they were able to provide a plethora of options. Shiner Bock, Michelob Ultra, all the best stuff in many different keg sizes, all ready to-go that same day. Best craft beer selection I've been able to find in Oklahoma. An abundance of singles to sample as well. Prices are average with some on the cheaper side and others a bit higher. If you insist on shopping here, check your purchase before you leave. I have never experienced such poor customer service. I purchased three bottles of liquor. When I got home, one bottle was missing from my bag. I immediately returned to the store with the receipt. The clerk who had helped me was still there. I waited for 20 minutes as management watched video footage and checked inventory. He then told me they would not give me the bottle I had purchased, as there was none missing from their inventory. I'm assuming my bottle was probably inadvertently placed in the bag of another customer after I left. Maybe I've been sheltered as a female senior citizen, but the implication that I could afford to pay $90 for three bottles and come back to try to scam them out of another bottle strikes me as incredibly ludicrous. Oh yea - now that we are back and forth to OKC area - it has been a priority to find the right purveyor of wines and spirits for us - after almost two years we finally ventured over to Norman - and we are going to be SOLID CUSTOMERS! The wine selection is bar-none the best in the OKC metro area = and the shop is bright, clean, and airy. Lots of "standard" options and plenty of diversity - a good selection of Austrian and German wines IN OKLAHOMA! Woo hoo! Truly a standout - To boot, the largest bourbon selection I have seen outside of Louisville - and maybe every better, the selection included a variety of states and "vintages" - very happy. The Cellar has a huge selection. So many of Norman's liquor stores cater to drunk frat boys. It's nice to have a place that adults can browse. The Cellar will also let you create your own 6 pack with its wide selection of small-time brews. Yet, a large selection of choices means little if you're unsure of what you want. Here is where the staff comes in. They are the most knowledgeable liquor store team of any I have encountered. Tell them what you like and they will take you shopping. This is not common. This place was recommended to us as a good place to pick up some less common NA Beer for husband with migraine issue. We came in with our 20yo son. Awesome selection of anything you could possibly want but we will never be back when in town due to the uncalled for rudeness of the cashier. I carried 2 packs of NA to the counter. My husband carried 2 packs of NA to the counter. My son carried a COASTER. While my husband was paying for his non-alcoholic beer the clerk asked for my son's ID in a very rude and confrontational manner. Bev-Mo has some stiff competition because The Cellar is a mini emporium. They have a ginormous selection of booze that stretches every single wall, nook and cranny. Don't worry, you still have ample room to stool through the abundant aisleways of wine with a push cart. I could easily spend a half hour going through the wines alone! I just feel bad for them now that Sprouts opened right next door. A lot of customers are taking their parking spaces :T I think what impressed me the most is their knowledge of booze. Parking gets a little crazy with Sprouts next door, but check out the sides of the building for extra spots. Being a warehouse of beer, wine, liquor, and everything else alcohol (did anyone else hear angels sing when they read that?), pricing is some of the best in town. Their selection is fine. I just had a problem with one particular staff member who was rude to me and my mother, who was not purchasing, for not having her ID. Telling us to go to another liquor store or pay the "$5,000" fine to purchase the $8 bottle of wine was not only unnecessarily rude, but stupid. So, I went to another liquor store as he so kindly suggested. Not good customer service. They must have been fined recently for not IDing their underage patrons. Will not be returning. This is my favorite liquor store in Norman. It's huge and everything is so cheap. I can get a big bottle of my favorite wine there for $10 while at the other stores a regular size bottle of the same wine is $12. The employees are always so nice and always seem happy to help. While their selection is large, service is lacking. I attempted a purchase for my boss using a company credit card and was turned away as the "card could be stolen." This despite our office being on the same street as the Celler, having made an identical purchase no less than ten times prior using a check, and offering my ID.
