    Schonbek A & Co

We had a REALLY bad experience with these people some years back, UNBELIEVABLY HORRIBLE, it…read moreinvolved them and they together with a lighting outlet called Carol's Lighting of Humble, Texas. We had an accident with a Schonbek leaded crystal chandelier that we had paid a LOT of money for from Carol's for a new home, it was in the many thousands of dollars. The damage we caused was that the frame became very slightly bent. This happened after several years of ownership. We called Schonbek customer service to ask what we should do to get the minor repair fixed, and they asked us to work through Carol's. They said they would gladly repair it but we needed to go through Carols. After repeated calls to Carol's, and no one calling us back, we drove in to town and to the store, and an assistant manager or supervisor promised us an immediate call to schedule a pick up of the chandelier. Well, that didn't happen. I called Schonbek back and they said that they would call Carol's. Well, a few days later a very irate man, so irate that he could barely unclench his jaw to speak - later identified as the (I think) general manager - came out to the house, picked up the chandelier frame, and TOSSED IT INTO THE BACK OF HIS TRUCK, JUMPED IN AND DROVE OFF!!! We heard nothing and could get no information after that, and so, after several phone calls back and forth with Mr. Schonbek (Andrew? I don't remember his name) he promised that Carol's would work with them to complete the repair. Well, some time after that, someone dropped the chandelier frame off at our house, and it was nearly destroyed! It looked like it had been kicked and dragged, there were scratches, pits, the whole thing was bent, it was just trashed. I called Schonbek back but could never get him on the phone or any kind of response. Together, Schonbek Lighing and Carol's Lighting rank at the bottom of any service I have seen in my 59 years. I wrote a long letter to Schonbek detailing the whole affair but never heard back. Our only choice was to sue Schonbek, but, after talking with a lawyer, we chose not to do so, it would have been too expensive. A few notes: someone associated with Carol's later told me that they - and Schonbek - really are in the business of providing new sales and don't have time or desire to address service issues. It just isn't in their interest to do so. They stay busy enough providing new sales and having a service department is too expensive and not worth the cost. Also, interestingly, someone at Schonbek faxed something to my wife at her workplace that they had apparently intended for Carol's. It was to the attention of their sales manager, and it gave the wholesale replacement cost of the chandelier. It was peanuts, a fraction of what we paid. So we learned that the retail markup, that we had paid, between Schonbeck and Carol's, was literally 10 times the replacement cost. But, we never could get it repaired or replaced. I would advise avoiding Schonbek. I myself despise them.

Ace has done a lot of residential electrical work for me over the last two years since I bought…read morethis 1935 house. Owner Tom Roberts personally did the first estimate before any electrical work was done. Prices are fair and work has never had to be redone because they do it right the first time. Fred & Burt did a lot of the work replacing old 2 wire outlets and upgrading the electrical panel and replacing and updating outdated switch arrangements. Because this is an old house with 1935 General Electric octopus-style overhead wiring configurations (not horizontal outlet to outlet) they had to figure a lot out using logic and troubleshooting. I had researched construction and design information about this house in a 1930's architecture publication online. These electricians figured out complex stuff that was not obvious or traditional wiring patterns. Owner Tom Roberts was a gentlemen, was patient, and took the time to explain anything that I had questions about, so I think the other review here that is very negative was written by a competitor who is trying to make Ace Electric look bad. That is dishonest. Additionally, Jada, the office manager, is efficient, pleasant, and takes care of things in a prompt matter. I would recommend Ace Electric to anyone.

Their owner Tom is completely disrespectful and extremely unprofessional I had an issue in my home…read moreregarding the electric, my home was built In 2017 and the manufactures of my home asked me to reach out to ace electrical to see if they could figure out what the problem is. Long story short ace electrical was trying to figure it out and then someone Other than Ace came to my home and fix the electric two days later. Needless to say ace electric created an invoice for the two hours of research which should be expected however I personally am not responsible for the invoice as it belongs to the third-party meaning being The builders responsibility as it was sold with a technical issue which they are aware of and are taking responsibility for. I had reached out to Scott from ace electrical to see if he can install two ceiling fans and fix some wiring which is wrong he agreed however the owner decided that he cannot come out to my home to do any work until the previous bill is paid for which is completely understandable however I never received a bill and unsure if the company has ever received one as well when I had told him that I did not receive a bill And did not have one he called me a liar that's when our conversation took a turn for the worst. Scott which is one of his employees just in for me on the phone that it went to the wrong address and that the address was just recently corrected in their system. I had told Tom that if Scott came to my house to do the work that I would provide him cash upon completion of the work As I am responsible and I pay my bills and I shouldn't be penalized for a bill that wasn't sent to me or a bill that I do not have And cannot give it to the appropriate party for payment. He then called me a liar again and said I just sent it out to you on May 24 and I repeated I don't have a bill and he said it only takes one day to get mail. What kind of person and what kindof business owner talks to a person that way? after I was disrespected I told him I wouldn't even want his company to do any work for me and he says I don't care I don't give a shit are you kidding me in a small town and not much competition do you feel superior to treat people like crap. Never in my life have I ever experience anything Like this Especially by the owner of the company just a pure disrespect and the mannerism of the owner is just unreal. Our conversation Was so rude and disrespectful that I really felt the need to create a yelp account and write a review of this business owner just because of his poor communication skills as well as his lack of respect for potential clients. Tom shame on you You can do better.
