Every time I call they all seem to be in a very bad mood or that I'm 'interrupting their day'. In all my years of owning cars and having them serviced at the dealerships, Cavender Chevrolet in Boerne is the worst service I have ever had. First of all, I always thought that when you made an appointment that's when your car was looked at. Not there. That's just when they put it in line. They still wait up to 72 hours before they even look at it. They finally start to look at it after 3 days. Then I'm told the technician doesn't come in on Saturday. Come Monday he's getting ready to look at it. Come Wednesday he's out so it still doesn't get looked at. The car has been in the shop a week and still don't know when I'll get it. I took my wife's vehicle to our regular repair place for some routine maintenance. When we went to pick it up, they advised that they noticed an oil leak from the turbocharger and that it might still be covered under warranty. I called the dealer that it came from, and they would not schedule an appointment unless we had warning lights come on in the dash. My repair place hearing that conversation said they could not recommend North Park for any service. However, they highly recommended Cavender and Ancira. As Cavender was nearer to me, I called them. The day of the appointment, we showed up a little early. However, they got us in to see Terry quickly. We went over everything with him, and he said they would look at it and call with what they found. They also found an open recall on the diesel and said they would fix that at the same time. The next day, Terry called and advised the vehicle was ready to pick up. They fixed the recall issue, and they said they found some residual oil at the intercooler, but that it was not leaking now. They advised that I should drive the vehicle until the next oil change, bring it back to them for that service, and they would reinspect the turbo and intercooler. Cost for the service was $0. All my experience with vehicles has been with gas V8 or V6 non-turbocharged engines. Having no experience with diesel or turbocharged engines makes me a novice on their repair records or longevity. I'll be checking the oil at each refueling until the next oil change as they said a major oil leak could lead to catastrophic failure. Luckily, we purchased an extended warranty when we purchased the vehicle. Will I return? Definitely in 5,000 miles for a recheck and oil change. Terry did a good job of calming my fears about catastrophic failure but confirming that there was no issue (or fixed issue) would have made me feel a lot better. read more

Misleading timelines and undisclosed fees I chose this location specifically because I was promised a 1 to 24-hour diagnostic for $189.95. Living in San Antonio, it is hard to find timely service, so I drove an hour out of my way to come here. Unfortunately, the experience did not match the promises. Upon arrival, the "1-hour" estimate changed to 72 hours. Ultimately, I didn't receive the diagnostic until 6 days later. I was told the delay was due to a shortage of EV-certified technicians, which is understandable but I could have been warned earlier that may be the case. The most frustrating part was the final bill. The $189.95 quote turned into $228.10 due to a $7.25 refrigerant charge and a $27.45 "misc shop fee" that was not disclosed upfront. When I questioned these, the representative was dismissive, acting as if an extra $35 is insignificant. For a student on a tight budget, every dollar counts, and being treated like my concerns were "just" about a small amount was poor customer service. Between the poor communication and the hidden fees, I would recommend getting every single detail in writing before leaving your vehicle here. read more

Less than 24hrs of having it started to leak oil and took it back to the dealership on Christmas Eve and has been there since. I was told it should have been finished the Monday after Christmas then by the end of that week and then today but now was given until Monday. This is only about my experience with the salesperson I dealt with; Kristen Cordoni. She was excellent in her Customer Service. This I hold strongly for any business; that they have Excellent Customer Service, and Kristen does. I had a lot of issues with my vehicle, that's for another review, but Kristen had to deal with each issue. She became my contact point and she had to deal with the service department, which I understood but at the same time didn't understand why she was my contact every time for them. Kristen dealt with everything with the professionalism one would expect and hope for in dealing with any business. I felt she had to go above and beyond for me, and I believe she did just that. She cares! Period! One doesn't see this enough today, especially in the last 5 years. I felt that when Kristen had to deal with me she wasn't giving proper care to her sales customers. In May 2025, my husband after diligent research decided to buy a car from Cavender Chevrolet for our son. It was a used 2017 Nissan Altima. When we went in, we were assured that it was in great shape and that the used card manager diligently goes every car with a fine tooth comb. We purchased the car and brought it home. Immediately following, we started experiencing some transmission problems. Didn't bother the dealership because we figured oh well we didn't do our due diligence. Then about a month later (early July) the air conditioning went out. After this happened, again we thought well we did not do our due diligence and decided to sell the car and just get rid of it. Hoping to get close to the purchase price from Cavender for selling this car we quickly learned that we were totally ripped off. We purchased the car for over $12,000 and we're offered only $4000 from Carmax. I then went and emailed our sales person (Jacob) and asked if there's anyway we can work this out. No response. I then emailed our sales person and the manager of the used car division. No answer. I then emailed the general manager of the entire dealership and never received an answer. I just can't believe that a reputable dealership in San Antonio would do this. Really sad would not encourage buying a used car from this dealership. read more

My friend brought her UNDER WARRANTY vehicle to them for a locked steering wheel issue. They proceeded to tell her it would not be covered by her warranty for no reason and tried to return her vehicle with more issues then when she dropped it off. She even has documentation of the vehicle's condition when it was dropped off. This dealership is refusing to show her their intake form of her vehicle. They got GM Legal involved who told her she could not speak of this issue, despite her not having signed anything to that effect. Additionally, she said she wanted to bring her vehicle somewhere else for a second opinion. Alan proceeded to explain that they work for commission and that it was rude to take her vehicle somewhere else after their work. Extremely slow work , 2 days to change a fan clutch , over $1800 and did not even resolve our overheating issue- they were supposed to change the belt too they charged us the hourly rate to remove it to discover that they ordered the wrong one then it was too late to order a new one- We still had to pay for their mistake.
