In case nobody knew, "Cave 97.7 FM is now known as "cave classics . com" on the internet in Benson, Az. This internet station was formed several weeks after 97.7 FM was sold. "Cave Man Joaquin" (the morning dj) along with dj's Chris Moses & engineer Frank Luna (me) emerged out of the ashes from the old cave & on Mar. 2023, "cave classics . com" was born. Ever since Cave Radio station FM97.7 in Benson, AZ. was sold and is now being run by CBS I guess.? It has gone down hill. They don't give hardly any local news any more. There are wild fires burning all over Cochise County and they don't say one word on the news. Neither on the hour or half hour. I just listen to the 7 pm news June 22, 2023 and not a word about the fire burning just 7 miles west of Benson and Hwy 90 being shut down in both directions from I-10 South to Hwy 82. There is also another fire burning southeast of Sierra Vista and no reporting about that either. These fires are being talked about on the Tucson TV stations but nothing about them on our local radio station FM97.7 This station used to give up dates about what was going on at the local VFW and American Legion but not any more. I really miss the local DJ's that broadcast right from here in Benson on 5th St. Like Joaquin, Chris, Debbie and others, but now the local DJ's are gone and I guess the announcers are coming via satellite signal...........from who knows where. I don't listen to the radio like I used too because of the changes the new owners made. I try to get the news on the hour and half hour but very seldom is local news talked about. Having worked in radio, and having listened to radio since I was a baby, I think I can speak with some authority, and I think KAVV, "The Cave," is one of the very best, most listenable, most professional local radio stations I have EVER heard. Because of where I live, I don't always get a good signal, but when I can listen, I do. Seriously, even the local commercials are great! One of the sad aspects of radio generally is that too little is local. KAVV, "The Cave," is local, and the people who create the commercials are witty, capable, and entertaining. And local. I can see some folks might not like the music. That is always subjective and a very personal choice. Usually my own first choice is classical. But KAVV, "The Cave," plays a very nice mix of country, a pleasant mix, as opposed to the raucous noise so often passed off as "country." Let me repeat: It is local. The announcers are right there in the local studio, not coming via some satellite signal. The commercials are locally produced, and I wish there were more of them so I'd know the station is healthy and will be around a looooooong time. I wish Yelp would remove that ugly and erroneous more than 2-year-old gripe about "child porn." It has no connection to reality and probably could even be considered slander or libel. If Santa brings me that winning lottery ticket, and since KAVV, "The Cave," is for sale, I'd love to own something as well run, as professional as is this excellent radio station. read more

Great Radio Station, Great Music and wonderful format. ... Prior reviews seem to be misguided, the alledged PSA cited was a PSA aimed at the unfair legal issues stemming from the fact that a person can murder someone in Arizona and get a light sentence. But if a person is found to have poronography on ones computer - they lock them up and throw the key away. The PSA was clearly aimed at pointing out the inequities of the poor Arizona State legal system. ... Porn can (and often is) downloaded into peoples PCs without their knowledge. I work in IT and do consulting for Federal Agencies where it is known that pro porn groups actively insert porn into peoples PCs from simple google, yahoo and bing search engines. This is a simple feat and it is meant to clog the legal system. Everyone should know how to clean their PC - simple fact of life. .... This Radio Station is operating at a loss because some one in the north eastern US read a blog about a PSA and has mounted a campaign based on miscontrued and misleading interpretations of the facts. .... We listen to this station and are pleased with the format and music. Too bad the big city stations don't carer to their listeners like KAVV does. read more
